Guest Jason Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 I think it's fairly obvious that either Orton or Cena will win this year's Royal Rumble. Who do you think will win it? I think Cena should win, because we all know we'll see Orton vs. HHH at Wrestlemania, it's just that obvious. And though RR's have been very predictable over the years, I think that this year it should be different. I think Cena should win it. What are your thoughts?
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 I think Taker could be taken into consideration as well. Cause, well, you know... he hasn't won it yet.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 It completely depends on if WWE is really willing to do the Angle/HBK program which leaves JBL/Cena on the table for the title match. A Surprise for once would be nice. But orton, cena and Taker are the clear cut favorites.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Orton. At this point, to me atleast, there isn't much doubt.
MikeJordan23 Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Orton, because that's probably the most logical way they can excuse him getting around the stipulation of him not getting a title shot with HHH as champ.
slimm44 Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 My pick is the coolest guy on Smackdown: Carlito Carribbean Cool! Haha, he has about as good a chance as Snitsky. I think it will be Orton. They have so many possibilities this year. But it comes down to storyline i.e "you will be number one" or "you wont get another shot if you don't win the rumble"
Guest LooneyTune Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Cena is still solidly in the Mid-Card, so I say Orton and I'm willing to bet money on that. 2004: Benoit was already considered part of the Main Event 2003: Brock was already considered part of the Main Event 2002: HHH was already part of the Main Event 2001: Austin was already part of the Main Event 2000: The Rock was already part of the Main Event 1999: McMahon...fuck this one. The last time a Midcarder won, it was in 1997, and even then Austin was being pushed in a top program with Bret Hart.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 No. The Most logical way is taking the title OFF Triple H; which breaks the stipulation ruling.
Lord of The Curry Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 They've booked the same "You never get another title shot" storyline with Orton. Unless they take the title off of HHH before WM (good luck) Orton has to win to get the match at WM. It's been the same like 5 of the last 7 years or some crap like that Damn got beat to it Didn't you get the memo? Chris Jericho is winning the world title this Monday.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Since we're talking about who wins; Who gets the meaningless but nice novel "Iron-Man" status here? I'm betting Shelton Benjamin does it from #4 and is among the final 5.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 The last time a Midcarder won, it was in 1997, and even then Austin was being pushed in a top program with Bret Hart. Austin 1997 verison was pretty much in the same postion as Cena. I personally wanna see Cena Vs. Eddie for the title, with Cena as a heel.
Guest Shutterspeed Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 It's possible that Undertaker goes over at Armageddon, Kurt wins the Rumble (SmackDown! guy this time) and there's the one-on-one.
Lord of The Curry Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Benoit was a Smackdown guy when he won it last year. Ditto for Lesnar the year before.
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 *BUT* _Raw_ had the Main Event last year, and they also had the Summerslam Main Event. And they'll probably have the RR Main Event as well. I like the Taker/Royal Rumble winner/WM streak possibilities.
Guest LooneyTune Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 RAW can't win a Royal Rumble Match until 2007. It was in the contract when HHH was traded back when he went to Smackdown.
cbacon Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 There's no reason to believe that we won't be seeing Orton win the Rumble and Orton raising the World Title to end WrestleMania 21. I don't think the RR/WM scenario has ever been more predictible than this year.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 *BUT* _Raw_ had the Main Event last year, and they also had the Summerslam Main Event. And they'll probably have the RR Main Event as well. I like the Taker/Royal Rumble winner/WM streak possibilities. Actually Rudo, Raw has main evented the last 6 joint brand PPVs.
Kahran Ramsus Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 It is pretty much inevitible that Orton wins, but I would much much prefer Cena or even Taker. Or hell, just ditch the whole Orton thing, be unpredictable, and have Batista win it. It would at least get people talking.
Vyce Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 I think Taker could be taken into consideration as well. Cause, well, you know... he hasn't won it yet. Jesus, why? ENOUGH has been done for Taker. Far, far more than he EVER should have received. Who should win: Cena. He "needs" it more than Orton. Who will win: Orton, of course.
Guest LooneyTune Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Cena "needs" it? He needs to ditch the stupid white boy rapper gimmick, and attempt to improve in the ring unless he likes being called this generations Lex Luger (who didn't think he needed to improve either past 1987).
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 He needs to turn. His character is so bland now.
Downhome Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 I'd rather Taker win it than Orton and Cena. To this day I just don't buy either one one as a main event guy, much less a headliner for a WM. I hope it'll be someone like Taker, Angle, etc...
Lord of The Curry Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Angle probably won't win it considering the lengthy record of faces being the ones to win the Rumble. Having said that, I think it would be awesome if Angle won the Rumble and then used that as a springboard to his feud with Taker.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 How about they silently drop the "title shot" ruling? That way Orton gets his shot because when HHH loses the tom. night to Jericho/Benoit, the "no shot" ruling was lifted and whatever main events SD! happens naturally... Have Shelton Benjamin win it and make up a stupid "since you have a title, you aren't getting a World Title Match".
The Niggardly King Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Batista would be a nice surprise
ChrisMWaters Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Eugene will win it. Seriously, I would kinda like Cena to win it...and not get traded, making the Royal Rumble win 2 1/2 times since the brand extension Smackdown wins the Rumble. I think you know why I say 2 1/2
Guest Coffey Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Batista would be a nice surprise I concur. I just wanna see a high number win it. Number one has won it multiple times, but number thirty has never won it? C'mon! I'd be pretty happy to see someone like Batista or Kane win too. Since being a big man in a Rumble is ALWAYS played up...you'd think they'd win it. I'm not real big on the Kane bandwagon, but his segments on Raw generally tend to be a little bit higher in ratings, and it'd make a good way for him to comeback to Raw. Then he could get his revenge on Snitsky before Wrestlemania. A big man with a high number would make sense. Like Batista with number twenty-seven. Something like that. A lot better than Shawn Michaels with number one. There's no reason to believe that we won't be seeing Orton win the Rumble and Orton raising the World Title to end WrestleMania 21. I don't think the RR/WM scenario has ever been more predictible than this year. I don't know, dude. Triple H's Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania wins were pretty predictable.... I'd rather Taker win it than Orton and Cena. To this day I just don't buy either one one as a main event guy, much less a headliner for a WM. I agree with this, although I'm not too keen on The Undertaker being the man of choice. Of course, he's never won the Royal Rumble, so I guess it would be the "nice" thing to do. If it fit into my above equation, and he was like, number twenty-eight or so...I wouldn't mind too much. Of course, The Undertaker has been number thirty in the past and didn't win it then....
Vyce Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Cena "needs" it? He needs to ditch the stupid white boy rapper gimmick, and attempt to improve in the ring unless he likes being called this generations Lex Luger (who didn't think he needed to improve either past 1987). Cena is, arguably, the most over face on the entire Smackdown roster. Of all the guys on that roster who aren't yet in the main event (or in some cases, who are in it now), Cena really should be the top face.
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 I'd like to see everyone get eliminated after #29, so that the 30th guy automatically wins. It would kill the town and the ppv, but it would be great.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 I completely agree. I'm tired of #1 and #27 winning all the damn time too.
