Guest Coffey Report post Posted November 29, 2004 GM ORTON CREATES HISTORIC BATTLE NOV. 29, 2004 This week is Randy Orton’s chance in the General Manager’s position, which is certainly far from good news for Triple H. With the World Heavyweight Championship on the line in a battle royal, any one of more than 20 Superstars have a chance to walk out of Raw with Triple H’s title in tow. That includes Batista and Ric Flair, Triple H’s two Evolution stable-mates! Flair perhaps has a unique advantage in the battle royal. He is the only Superstar participating who has walked out of such a match with the gold around his waist. Will the Nature Boy be able to make it 17 World Championships? Click Here For competitors like Steven Richards, Val Venis, Tyson Tomko and others, the battle royal represents a unique opportunity they might have otherwise had to wait years to achieve. And for the likes of Chris Jericho, Shelton Benjamin, Maven and so many other Superstars who have a bone to pick with the Cerebral Assassin, the match is the ultimate chance for payback. Plus, what might Trish Stratus do to avenge the humiliation and pain she suffered at the hands of Lita? Who will be the next unfortunate victim in Gene Snitsky’s path? And what more might we find out about the bitter and dangerous Muhhammad Hassan? Tune in to RAW Monday (9/8 CT on Spike TV) to find out. We might as well start putting all the battle royal talk in here instead of having several threads devoted to it. Here's a couple of links to related topics: Will the battle royal ruin Edge's gimmick/character? Will Triple H retain the title tonight? When did the World Title last change hands on TV? Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted November 29, 2004 If Orton was smart, he'd book the Battle Royale to happen 1st. When HHH wins, he books HHH vs. (Name Here). If HHH wins, then he books HHH vs. (Name Here) until HHH loses the title. Of course, that's actually smart planning.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted November 29, 2004 I'm surprised that Triple H hasn't pulled out the "I only have to defend my title once every thirty days" rule that randomly shows up every now and then.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2004 So, is this going to be a two-hour battle royal? Or are the wrestlers going to work seperate matches and still compete? Is it going to be done Royal Rumble-style or everybody in the ring at the same time? Probably not that way, so I see guys like Richards, Venis, Tomko, Dean etc. lasting under a minute before they're tossed.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2004 Simon Dean won't be in it.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2004 Royal Rumble style would have been a great idea with Triple H getting number 1...

If Orton were smart, battle royal would go on first, and then if HHH lost he could get a world title shot on the same night.

clean rob 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2004 According to wwe.com, it's not Royal Rumble style, just a regular battle royal with the following competitors, who I have handily grouped: FAVOURITES: Triple H (Obviously.) Chris Jericho (It's his Raw the following week, he's a good bet to feud with Trips between now and Mania, and he's very over right now. ) OUTSIDE CHANCES: Batista (We've seen it teased, he's in Evolution...it'd be too early, but it could happen.) Chris Benoit (Recent history with HHH, who might want his singles win back soon) Edge (Hanging around the ME scene, made it clear he wants the title) Gene Snitsky (If they're going for a SWERVE~! winner, this is my bet.) Ric Flair (We all know HHH loves Flair - and it does open up some interesting storyline possibilities.) NO-HOPERS: Christian Eugene Jonathon Coachman Maven Rhyno Robert Conway Rosey Shelton Benjamin Steven Richards Sylvain Grenier Tyson Tomko Val Venis Viscera William Regal Agree/disagree? It's a shame that out of 20 men there's just one I'd give a decent chance of taking Trips' title. And I don't really expect that to happen either. Still, here's hoping I eat my words and Stevie Richards gets the 7-day reign he deserves.

Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted November 29, 2004 Hulk Hogan for World Champion! Hey, if someone could hope for The Rock, I'll hope for Hogan.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2004 Mick Foley for World Champion! That would be a kind of kick in the teeth for the people who used to run WCW. (yes, I know the title isn't exactly the same as the old WCW Title, but it looks close enough for it.)
Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted November 29, 2004 If the Show was in Florida or California, I'd buy the realistic opportunity of The Rock making a surprise apperence in the rumble.

Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted November 30, 2004 Thats something I'm completely curious and excited about. On some sick level, I'll have to appreciate HHH if he finds a way to go over 20 men in ONE night. All logic points that he shouldn't even be in the ring after 20 seconds have passed. Either they got some brilliant plan set up here or HHH just expects the fans to buy that 17 other people (flair and Batista are excluded) wouldn't try to instantly eliminate him. It's possible you could show HHH paying off Viscera and Le Resistance to watch his back but there's still 10-15 guys who should easily get rid of him. Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 Did any of you guys see Heat last night? I actually sat down to watch the Val Venis match, and holy lord was he over. The fans were on their feet going fucking insane for the guy. I really wish he could get a serious push already.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 I actually sorta hope HHH wins, just so everyone can go crazy how he beat everyone in a single night. I'd be more concerned about how nonsensical it would be for the other wrestlers to not beat the hell out of HHH/Evolution. Before Bisch turned, yah, you could argue that the faces and tweeners were intimidated about the sway HHH held over Bisch, but now they wouldn't have anything to lose by ganging up on them. However, despite the buildup of Raw faces teaming up to combat Evolution and despite the consistant pattern of heels kissing HHH's ass just because he's the top heel, it will likely be, as already mentioned in the other thread, it will be "every man for himself" regardless. I predict HBK to show up for the Battle Royale, turn heel, and join Evolution after pretending to team up on Trips, then catching a face (likely Orton) by surprise and dumping him when HHH is about to be tossed. Venis does this week in and week out with no fanfare whatsoever. He even carried TEST to *** early this year and his match with Orton on Heat was Orton's 3rd best singles match of his career (behind the foley and Benoit matches)
Guest BDC Report post Posted November 30, 2004 If they had something for Val other than the stupid porn gimmick, he'd get somewhere. Even his run with Trish in his white ring gear worked pretty well. The problem there was... well, he was bland. He was mean, he worked well, but he was markedly bland. And yet he still ran a pretty good feud with Rikishi. I think I'd end up liking the guy if they gave him something good (as in not "Chief Morley") to run with.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 I've seen Venis before on Heat, I used to watch it every single Sunday night up until a few weeks ago, and I can't remember him EVER having an ovation like he did on Sunday night. He was more over than any other face on RAW last night. Ever since he debuted, I've seen superstar written all over this guy. If ever I've wanted someone to get a push who has never really had one, it's him.

I don't get why Val has never been seriously pushed. Must be the HHH syndrome.
