The answer to the Battle Royal dilemma

Recommended Posts

- HHH gets gained up on and thrown out at the beginning

- Flair cheats to win the Battle Royal (with HHH screwing Benoit, Jericho, or Orton out of the title)

- Next week, at Raw in Charlotte, Flair lies down for HHH (or they have a match and HHH wins the title back).

No faces have to look like idiots, HHH doesn't have to job and gets to do something to get himself over, the faces get screwed (and keep their heat for a feud/title win down the line), crowd is happy because Flair is really popular and they feel like they saw something special, Flair and HHH both get more title reigns to pad their stats.

Ric Flair isn't a viable World Champion anymore simply by how eroded he has become and how much of a joke he is today. Is he over? Absolutely. So were the Bushwhackers in their heyday, they didn't get the titles because their jobs were entertainment players.

Ric Flair is no longer Ric Flair the wrestler. He's Ric Flair the entertainer and behind the microphone cutting the promos, he's still top of the line.

So is Jesse Ventura. He's old and can still cut a mean promo. He isn't getting the title.

Sadly, Flair's chances are more realistic then almost everyone in the rumble save for Chris Jericho and Batista.

15 of Flair's 16 reigns are credible. #16 was a joke. #17 would be simply...a tragedy.

I kinda like this idea. One of the unwritten rules of wrestling is that you're expected to put someone over on your way out, so I'd have next week's RAW be Flair's final night as an actual wrestler. Face it, a lot of younger views perceive Flair as someone who older folks practically worship. But, they don't see Flair as a champion. Understandably, I might add. But, still, give him the title, let him have a championship homecoming, put over someone on his last night, and farewell to active wrestling. Let him be a manager or whatever from that point on.

What does that say for guys that are half his age though? A 55 year old man can win the title, but a younger, better conditioned athlete can't? That would be worse than if HHH keeps the belt after tonight.

Too bad Ric Flair already put Triple H over last year in Carolina. Too bad Ric Flair's value is obscenely low.

You want to talk about killing the morale? Yes, they respect Flair for what he has done. They won't be happy to see him; a lame duck at age 55 win over 19 other people half his age and ripe with the opportunity.

Ric Flair winning tonight would be nice for about 5 minutes before it sinks into you how low they would have reached and completely devauled the title after Shawn(yes he never held it but he chased it for 7 months) Benoit and HHH and Orton made it worth something this year.

I'd like to see Flair get one last reign. Not a serious one, but something to stir it all up.

Shawn held it in December of 02, remember?

Yes, but i was talking bout how those 4 made the title valuable this year.

The title was still a complete joke in 2002/2003.

Since this has moved into a discussion of Flair, it can stay open... but stop making threads about the battle royale please?!

I would never watch RAW again. Ric Flair doesn't even deserve winning the IC Title on a fluke at this point of his career. Stevie Richards has a better case than Flair, simply by the fact he can still deliver in the ring without making a fool out of himself.

I can't even view Flair as a champion. He's far too old to make it viable.

As for turning him against Triple H, they should have done that back when they had their match. They could have made that his farewell. Really, that was their best opportunity, with Triple H telling him what to do and Flair being his own man. He's coming off far too domesticated to turn on Trips again.
