Guest sek69 Report post Posted January 23, 2005 Cornette must really like his job, I can't imagine him not going apeshit when WWE called up the 2 guys in one of their biggest feuds (Damaja and Basham) only to make them a tag team, and a lame one at that. Seriously, why does Cornette even bother showing them how to work good matches and cut good promos when all they end up doing is WWE kick n' punch matches? Doesn't make sense for a fed that wants to tone things down to have a development fed that goes balls out. It only breeds disappointment.

Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2005 Then again, sometimes WWE improves on someone........ Except it took WWE over 2 years to start booking Batista half as good as he was booked in OVW, and they took some of his specialness away by having him grow out his hair. Guest sek69 Report post Posted January 23, 2005 True, especially since we had to suffer the silly "Deacon Bautista" bullshit, but once they found the power of the Pimp Suit he's gotten pretty over. Then again, they pretty much backed into it just like they did with Snitsky. God forbid they actually try to get someone over and not make them pay their dues with silly gimmicks. I think letting him grow his hair out was a bonus, considering it seems like everyone is shaving their heads to stave off male pattern baldness.

Name one demon who has hair like he does ? Or even has hair ? Demons don't have hair. They have weird looking heads that are devoid of the smallest of follicles. It's a shame that Kane lost the mask, because it would have been a great angle to add some spark to Batista during his inevitable downturn if they had done something where he got shaved bald. He looks so much more intimidating without hair.

Fro 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2005 Here's this week's results, from yours truely. OVW TV Report for 1/22/2005 by Jeff "Fro" Wahlman Email: [email protected] OVW Valley Wrestling Taped from the Davis Arena in Louisville, KY on 1/19/2005 Commentators: Jim Cornette and "Daredevil" Dean Hill Let the bodies hit the floor... let the bodies hit the floor (It's the OVW intro package with lots of shots of Doug Basham, Danny "Damaja" Basham, Nick "Eugene" Dinsmore, Nova, Kanyon, Benoit, Bob Holly, Kurt Angle, Johnny Jeter, and Matt Morgan. It's a little out of date, I think.) "The Shooter" Brent Albright v.s. Mike Taylor Nice to see Albright back after his injury. Chris Kay is ref. Taylor and Albright trade waistlocks. Taylor leapsfrogs and hits Albright with a clothesline. He follows that up with a Muta-style elbow. Albright gets dumped out of the ring but skins the cat and takes control. Albright works on the left arm, setting up for his finisher, the crowbar for a few minutes. Albright hits a nice dropkick on Taylor's arm in the corner which gets 2. Albright hits a hammerlock and then tries to ram Taylor's shoulder into the buckle again but Taylor reverses. Taylor makes the comeback with one arm and hits a nice kneelift and an Angle Slam which Cornette calls a "modified Samoan Drop" for 2. Taylor's going to have a rude awakening if he ever moves up to WWE when he can't do half his moves. Taylor hits an elbow off the 2nd rope for 2. Albright goes for the Crowbar (basically an armbar) but it gets reversed into a fireman's carry. Albright hits a wristlock and drops Taylor's arm across his shoulder. He then locks in the Crowbar. Taylor quickly taps. Fun little match and both guys looked good. Winner: Brent Albright Rating: ** 1/4 Up next, an interview with Matt Morgan. - OVW returns to the Derby Park Expo Sunday Jan. 30th at 6 p.m. OVW Fundraiser Promo - Last week, Matt Morgan got a title shot with OVW Champion Elijah Burke. The last couple minutes of last week's match are shown. We pick up with Morgan making his comeback and walking into a Black Hole Slam from Morgan for 2. Burke with a DDT for 2. Burke goes up top and drops an elbow for 2. Elijah puts a sleeper on the much bigger Morgan but Morgan knocks over the ref and drops Burke backwards (the Vader/Foley spot)! Morgan goes outside the ring and grabs the OVW Title, but Burke ducks the belt shot, grabs the title and hits an X-Factor on the belt for 3. Cornette introduces Matt Morgan for an interview. Matt has a mask that looks a bit too much like the Punisher's logo for the WWE legal team's liking. Cornette says Morgan lost his temper last week. Footage is shown after the show ended last week of Morgan beating up several referees and security members. Cornette mentions that Morgan caused several injuries and Morgan is fined $3000 for his actions, one of the biggest fines in OVW history. This causes Morgan to be quite angry. Morgan says he didn't lose his cool last week, Cornette should pay him $3000 for taking out those loser refs. Morgan says Cornette made him into a monster. Cornette mentions the angle that led to Morgan getting his mask and how Morgan is dishonest. Morgan says the OVW title belongs around his waist. Morgan says he's the only heavyweight around OVW and Chris Cage and Elijah Burke were lucky to beat him. He threatens to go after a fan. Matt says he's the "Blueprint" and he doesn't care what he does. Morgan demands to be fined $5000. Cornette asks him why in the hell he wants to be fined more. Morgan says deserves $2000 more for chokeslamming Cornette! He grabs Cornette by the throat and goes for the chokeslam! Elijah Burke makes the save with a steel chair and clears Morgan from the ring with a few chairshots. Cornette, once he recovers says that Morgan is "a big son of a bitch" and he's not going to be fined one red cent, but he's going to be suspended indefinitely!! Hot angle. -- Feb. 12, OVW in E-Town Kentucky -- Blaster Lasheley (/w "The Giant Killer" Mike Mondo and Kenny "Starmaker" Bolin) v.s. Bam Bam Pender This match is a $100 a minute challenge, where Kenny Bolin pays $100 for every minute the opponent can last with Lasheley. Mondo seems to have inherited Fonzie's whistle. Both he and Blaster are dresssed in army fatigues. Pender has an Eagles jersey on which the Louisville crowd doesn't care about. Blaster looks a little bit like and is built like a slightly taller Monty Brown. Bam Bam tries to waistlock Blaster to no effect. Blaster spears Lasheley and then slaps Bam Bam around a bit. Hill announces 45 seconds elapsed. Blaster hits a powerslam for 3 in 53 seconds. He's definitely getting a monster push but he didn't show much here. Squash. Winner: Blaster Lasheley Rating: 1/4 * Last week, Mark Henry unfortunately returned to OVW and tossed around Chad Toland. At least we'll only have to suffer through the guy another year in OVW and WWE since his ridiclous contract is close to being up. Crowd chants "midget" at Chad, which lets you know what his prospects are of getting called up even though he's worked for New Japan and is great. Chad hits the Ric Flair low blow and shoulderblocks down Henry. This was funny because Chad was dressed up like he's Ric Flair this week. Chris Cage steals Tank Toland's crutch and hits Chad! Henry splashes Chad for 3! This was supposed to be a handicap match but Tank Toland never tagged in, selling his "injury" he got from Chris Cage punching him about 6 weeks ago. Cornette says the Tolands have run this charade with Tank faking being injured for too long. Cornette says the Tolands have contacted a Louisville attorney and have filed a lawsuit against OVW for an unsafe working environment. Due to the legal case, both the Tolands and Chris Cage will be off OVW until the case is resolved. Up next, Aaron "The Idol" Stevens. -- OVW in London, KY Feb 19 -- Aaron Stevens, former member of the Jersey Shore Crew with Nova and Danny Inferno, is out for a promo. Stevens has a new Ric Flair robe to complete his repacking. Stevens says he is "Free At Last" and for 15 months he worried about a bunch of dirtballs and carried them on his back. Now he's looking out for himself. He's not a dirtball. He says he's the best looking human on the planet. Stevens says without him, Danny Inferno would be making pizza on the Boardwalk in Jersey and Trudi DeNucci would be doing things under the Boardwalk. He says Trudi is a "Jersey Shore whore" and proclaims it the year of the Idol. This brings out Danny Inferno w/ Trudi Denucci. Inferno says the breakup was supposed to be mutual. Inferno is mad because Stevens claimed he was the leader of the crew and says Stevens isn't even from Jersey. Inferno says a leader doesn't have someone fight their battles for them. Inferno says Stevens couldn't couldn't carry him for 15 minutes and says Inferno is for real. Inferno calls Stevens a rich kid from New England while Inferno has had to work for everything. Inferno says Trudi could whip Stevens' ass in 15 seconds. Stevens says "before the operation, Trudi was a guy" which causes Trudi to slap Stevens. Stevens hits Inferno with a swinging neckbreaker and goes after Trudi and then beats up on Danny Inferno before the refs break all three up. Another good segment, with both Stevens and Inferno showing much better than expected promo ability. -- Next week, the "Beat the Champ TV Title" debuts. Apparently there will be a TV Title awarded in a match with two randomly drawn members of the OVW roster. For every successful defense each week against a random opponent, the champ will win $1000. If he loses the belt, the challenger wins $1000. -- Mo Greene is in the ring. He was formerly known as Lamont in WWE (The Cat's sidekick) and Morrus in OVW and rumors of his demise have been greatly exaggerated. He's dressed up like he's mini-Godfather down to the cane and hat.. He introduces his tag team, the Heartbreakers. The Heartbreakers are sort of a Christopher Street Connection type gimmick, down to running out and coming out to "It's Raining Men" with red boas and pink headbands. They actually get on on the announce table and start grinding on Cornette and Dean Hill and throwing confetti on them which is hilarious for the announcers' reactions. Hill says "Just Say No to Crack" and COrnette says "I've been stuck blind for life". Cornette actually says "they're trying to sexually assault Chris Kay". The confused women in the crowd actually pop. "The Heartbreakers" Romeo Rosallei (sp?) & "The Promise" Antonio Thomas v.s. Steve Lewington & Ken Donne Lewington and Thomas start, Thomas grabs a handful Lewington's buttocks after a lockup. We can tell Lewington is British because he wears British Flag Tights. Lewington then kicks him after an exchange. Donne comes in off the top with a big sledge. Donne is only 18 and is built like Randy Orton. Donne hits an armdrag into an armbar. Romeo in now and Lewington as well. Atomic drop and the Heartbreakers hit each other. Mo trips Lewington and Romeo clips Lewington's knee. Romeo and Thomas wishbone him. They work on Lewington's knee. Cornette says the Heartbreakers are of "questionable sexual orientation". Romeo back in, ducks an enziguri but Lewington kicks Romeo off and Donne is in. Donne is a house of fire with elbows and a split-legged moonsault!! This only gets two. Dropkick where Donne gets about 6 feet in the air. Donne hits his finisher, but Greene runs interference. The Heartbreakers hit their finisher, now called "erectile dysfunction" which is a Double Rock Bottom with a double leg trip for a 3 count. Crowd chants "you're still gay"! at them. Winners: The Heartbreakers Rating: * 1/2 Up Next: The OVW Southern Tag Titles are on the line -- MNM (the OVW Southern Tag Team Champions) come out with their awesome entrance. Their entrance is pretty great, with a bunch of photographers coming out and snapping photos and a couple entourage guys holding signs. Matthews and Nitro have the title belts attached to belts around their waist, so they're dangling between their legs, which is probably all you need to know about that. Matthews dangles his "title belt" near a photographer's mouth again this week. Matthews fake reels Melina in the ring who does the splits as she goes under the bottom rope, then she stands up and Nitro slides into the ring ala Edge but face up under her. As people have said, pretty risque for OVW. They make some crotch chops to their belts. Cornette grabs the microphone and says Seth Skyfire and Mac Johnson were supposed to get a rematch this week. Cornette says Mac Johnson was injured last week due to the actions of Matthews and Nitro and will be out 4-6 weeks with an abdominal injury. Cornette says those two can't wrestle this week. Cornette says "that belt's the longest thing you have down there". Cornette says he has a replacement tag team that will be out in about five seconds. "MNM" Johnny Nitro and Joey Matthews (w/ Melina) v.s. "The Thrillseekers" Johnny Jeter and Matt Capotelli Faces hit the ring immediately and clear the ring. The Thrillseekers pose with the belts and with MNM's coats as Dean Hill finally introduce them. Robert Brisko is the ref. Says Melina is wearing a "handkerchief and a hair tie" for a skirt and top. MNM beats up one of their photographers for taking pictures of Jeter and Matt. Jeter and Capotelli come out and strart brawling outside the ring with MNM. Jeter and Nitro start as the bell finally rings. Jeter hits a flying formarm and goes for the Jericho springboard dropkcick spot which he blows totally after slipping on the 2nd rope. Double kick, double boot, double punch. Matt and Joey in. Matt fights out of the heel corner and hits a neckbreaker and then a swinging neckbreaker on Matthews. He hits a flapjack when Nitro runs in, throwing him on Matthews! Capotelli goes up top and gets crotched when Nitro trips him. Matthews destracts the ref while Nitro chokes him on the ring apron. Matthews hits a low blow. Matthews goes for the cover for two as we hit the ad break. -- OVW in London Kentucky and Derby Park Expo! -- Matt is trapped in the ropes when we come back. Matthews and Nitro double -team Matt. Nitro gets in Matt's face and chokes him. Stomp, punch in and shoulders in the corner. Matthews back in and revs back and runs into the corner with a shoulder to the gut. This causes Matt to get bounced outside the ring and Melina stomps away on him. 2-count when Matt is rolled back into the ring. Both MNM members kick Matt in the gut as Nitro is back in and ties Matt in the ropes again! They go for the same whip double team but it backfires and Jeter is in. 2 dropkicks, elbow, spinning kick, Nitro saves Matthews from getting pinned. Matt up top and hits a double crossbody on both MNM members! Jeter takes down Matthews but gets 2.999. Jeter signals and goes up top. He kicks Nitro off the apron, who is trying to crotch him on the top rope. You never realize how much psychology is in OVW until you have to type up what happens in the matches. Jeter hits a spinning kick from the top on Matthews but Melina distracts the ref, allowing Matthews to recover. It's pretty sad when OVW's tag team division is better than WWE's. Melina grabs a chair but Skyfire throws the chair away and carries Melina to the back. Matthews and Jeter in the ring, Jeter hits an enziguri. Nitro gets Jeter now, Nitro misses with a move and flies over the top rope. The Thrill Seekers hit a double superkick on Matthews. 1-2-3! New Champs. Good match! Winners: The Thrillseekers (new OVW Southern Tag Team Champions) Rating: *** 1/4 Crowd gives Jeter and Capotelli a standing ovation. Cornette says a new era in OVW Tag Team wrestling has begun. The ref raises their hands and the Thrillseekers go into the crowd with the titles as the show fades out. Not a really great show this week but definitely better than average and fun to watch. Definitely has a potential WWE look. As much as I hate gay gimmicks, this one's so over the top it works, especially with the confused OVW ringrat portion of the fans cheering for them. And Morrus is a great manager for them, building them up every week talking about how much the "ladies love them" and then they come out prancing around. They're not just a comedy team either. It's a potentially bad gimmick that's been very well executed at this point. Right now, the tag teams in OVW are the main event guys, so I'd look for them to be in line to feud with The Thrillseekers very soon. I wouldn't worry about Thomas because he'll make the jump to singles and get repackaged at some point down the line.

Skyfire and Albright have been selected by a random drawing and the winner of the match will receive $1000 dollars and be crowned the "Beat the Champ" OVW TV Title holder. This should be good. Collar and Elbow tieup, Skyfire puts on a wristlock which Albright quickly reverses into a wristlock of his own and throws Skyfire down. Skyfire nips and rolls up and reverses the wristlock and throws Albright down. Albright kicks Skyfire down from the floor to break the hold. Double nipup, and Skyfire does a front roll afterwards to show off. They exchange shoves, Skyfire ducks a clothesline and hops on Albright's back and goes for a crucifix rollup, then spins around into a rana that takes Albright out of the ring! Goes for the wheelbarrow powerbomb counter again, but Albright german suplexes him and he does the Kurt Angle moonsault sell!! Albright steps on Skyfire's arm and revs back on it. Overhead hammerlock suplex by Albright gets a couple two counts. Albright jaws with the ref, allowing Skyfire to get a couple shots in. Albright recovers and throws Skyfire shoulder first into the ring post and flies out of the ring! Albright uses the floor and the guardrail outside the ring to work on Skyfire's arm. Hammerlock on Skyfire. Skyfire breaks the hold but Albright puts the hammerlock back on and hits a belly-to-back suplex with the arm still hammerlocked! The OVW trainer comes out and throws in the towel! Crowd chants "bullshit". Skyfire is seriously hurt. Cornette sells it as a possible dislocated shoulder. Nice opener with a lot of very crisp wrestling. I think these guys are capable of having a really great match with each other down the road. The Thrillseekers are in the ring. Cornette says those belts look good around the Thrillseekers. Jeter says he's never been tag team champion before and has never even been in a tag team before. Jeter says the titles have belonged to a lot of great teams and he's honored to be champion. Matt says he and Jeter have known each other a long time and have been through a lot of highs and lows. Matt says the Thrillseekers are on top of their game and I feel a heel run-in coming on. Matt says a lot of people helped us get there and they are the Davis Arena fans. Matt SHOOTS and thanks the matchmaker Jim Cornette for booking them in the match last week. He thanks Skyfire for taking care of Melina. Jeter says they're going to stay on top for a long time and you can put money on it. I didn't know Vegas had a line on OVW matches. This brings out MNM (w/ entourage). Cornette says "they're trying to upstage the new OVW champions". Melina's seems to have raided Jimmy Jacobs' closet and stolen a pair of his boots. Cornette says you're missing something that used to be hanging between your legs, of course I'm talking about your Southern Tag Team Titles. Matthews says "let me tell you something BROTHER", and says even though the Thrillseekers won the belts, they're still the stars of the show, they still draw the ratings and they're still the champions of OVW. "You Still Suck Chant". Cornette says it's a challenge for a rematch. Matt mocks Matthews' mocking Hogan and says MNM hid behind a 30 day clause to stop from defending the belts. Matt says they don't have to give MNM a rematch, and they don't have to defend the titles for 30 days. Melina says "No way, you stole our belts". Both teams huddle as Cornette says if you guys want to meet with each other "I'll just sit here and play solitaire". Jeter says MNM have a shot at the titles if they beat a top rated, top contending tag team. Melina asks what tag team? Cornette says he can't lay a tag team like an egg, but he will produce a tag team next week that MNM will have to beat to get another title shot. Nitro calls Jeter/Matt cowardly for hiding behind their 30 day clause and hiding behind loopholes in their contract. He says they are only postponing the inevitable and they can't cheat MNM out of the rematch. Nitro says the fire department better come hose down the Thrillseekers after MNM get their rematch, because they're going to get burned. He leaves the Thrillseekers with a proverb, "Seek and thou shalt get thy asses kicked by MNM". Decent segment after a slow start. -- OVW live in E-Town Kentucky -- Before we see Aaron "The Idol" Stevens in action, let us take you back to last week... --- (Aaron Stevens) says he's the best looking human on the planet. Winner: Aaron "The Idol" Stevens Rating: 1/4 * (Match only lasted about 30 seconds) Inferno pulls out a chain and blisters Idol in the head. Taylor backs off and just watches in the corner. Crowd chants "Kick his Ass". Inferno produces a noose and sticks it around Idol's neck and throws him over the top rope and "hangs him"! Cornette calls for help from the back and a couple refs come out. Inferno slams Idol's head into the announce table repeatedly and then throws him over the guard rail and they brawl out the arena door. Cornette says he has "no idea what the hell is going here", but we'll be back in a minute. Wild angle by OVW standards -- Steve Lewington v.s. Blaster Lasheley (w/ "Giant Killer" Mike Mondo & Kenny "Starmaker" Bolin & "God of Thunder - Kiss" music) Lasheley actually has a challenger who's been pushed a bit, so this will be interesting. Cornette says Lewington is a step above the competition Blaster has faced thus far in OVW. This is the $100 a minute challenge. Kenny Bolin will pay Lewington $100 for each minute he can last with Blaster Mondo is paying tribute to Jimmy Hart this week with a megaphone which seems not to be working. Lewington comes agressively at Lasheley. Lasheley squashes Lewington in the corner and then clotheslines him. 30 seconds announced. Lasheley shoves Lewington and hits a European Uppercut. 45 seconds gone. Lasheley goes for a powerslam but Lewington reverses and hits a shoulderblock! Lasheley goes down for the first time ever in OVW! Lewington gets a 1 count. Hill announces 1 minute gone by. Bolin freaks out at ringside, being the ultimate cheapskate. Lewington goes up top and gets caught by Lasheley. Belly-to-belly, then a double arm underhook overhead suplex by Lasheley and Lasheley kicks the downed Lewington in the head. Lasheley goes for an elbow drop which misses. Lewington rolls out of the ring and runs around the ring area as 1:45 is announced, then 2 minutes. Cornette says Lasheley is blowing up. Lewington attacks Blaster as he enters the ring but Lasheley comes back with a clothesline and a powerslam for 3. Winner: Blaster Lasheley in 2:28 Rating: * 1/4 Bolin calls for another powerslam and this one is a running one. Bolin stuffs the $200 Lewington won into Lewington's throat. Up Next: A special guest on OVW! -- Cornette says we'll update you on Matt Morgan, but first let's show you the clip from last week! --- Matt says he's the "Blueprint" and he doesn't care what he does. Hot angle. --- We cut to a promo sent in via tape from Matt Morgan at home (thus sans mask). Morgan says Cornette is trying to keep Morgan from winning the title back, and says Cornette is trying to protect his boy Burke. Cornette knows if he lets Morgan get another shot he knows that Cornette will never be able to get the title off Morgan again. Morgan says he's got a little extra cash in his pocket since Cornette never fined him, so he's putting a $5000 bounty on Burke's head! Morgan says he's going to wreck OVW if he can't run it, and Burke will face his friend, no his Vengeance this week. --- Here's our special guest who is a new OVW trainer... it's AL SNOW! Cornette and Snow shake hands and Snow sucks up to the fans and it's "damn fine" to be in OVW with the "damn fine" fans. Snow says he begged WWE to let him come to OVW. Snow says he's going to take a real close look at Elijah Burke. Snow says he's going to take over at the announce table and take a look if Dean doesn't mind and then tells Dean to "move his ass over". Snow says "don't change the channel, don't move, we know where you live" and I hear Mick Foley fake laughing somewhere. -- Elijah Burke and slaps everyone's hands at ringside. Cornette gives the impression Snow may be taking over as commentator permanently as he says Snow is his "new broadcast partner". OVW Heavyweight Champion Elijah Burke v.s. Vengeance (n. WWE PPV) - Nontitle Match It's a hoss in a mask, Vengeance (aka Kevin Fertig aka Seven aka Mordecai). Ven is wearing a mask inspired by the comic book character Spawn, andis wearing a chest protector ala D'Lo Brown. I really couldn't tell who it was if I didn't know, so they did a good job dressing Mordecai up. Ven jumps Burke before the bell and stomps him. Burke tries to punch Vengeance in the chest and hurts his hand. Ven misses a splash in the corner, and Burke comes back. An Inverted Atomic Drop 2x, clothesline by Burke. 10-punch count in the corner. Snow says he'd do anything for $500, let alone $5000. Vengeance Vader attacks Burke in the corner. 2 count. Cornette and Snow need a little work meshing together (Snow talks a bit too much since Cornette can talk forever) but that will come quickly. Grapevine and a "fishhook" on Burke. Snow says Burke looks like a "large mouth bass" about now. Ven punches away on Burke, Burke breaks out. Ven goes for the Vader attack and misses and hurts himself with his chest protector. Burke forearm, dropkick. 1-count. Russian legsweep for 2. Cornette says the OVW title isn't on the line. Burke goes for his finisher, but Ven blocks with a thumb to the eye. Ven sticks something up his mask and headbutts Burke. 1-2-3. Winner; Vengeance. Mordecai looked better in that match. Al SNow is on the ring apron and tells Briscoe about Ven cheating. Briscoe asked the audience what happened. Briscoe decides to restart the match! Vengeance runs after Al Snow, who jumps off the apron. Burke hits the facebuster (X-Factor) on Ven, who still has the object in his mask and is knocked out cold! 1-2-3! Winner: Elijah Burke Rating: * 1/2 Snow gets in the ring and raises Burke's hand and congratulates him. Not a great show like last week but still very solid, especially the opening match. Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2005 First Morgan gets given the Blue Print angle since they were grooming a masked heel for 'Taker, now Mordecai as Vengeance. Still, both angles sound good. Can't wait to snag this tape.

Guest sek69 Report post Posted February 1, 2005 Did Fertig suck as bad in OVW as he did as Mordecai in WWE, or was he another case of them training a guy one way then making him work a completely different style once they call him up?

Fro 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2005 Firstly, unfortunately there's going to be no OVW recap this week because my cable company is having problems picking up the signal from the bush league station it airs on. Fertig wasn't any better in OVW, but he was in a tag team with Tomko so it kind of hid both of them. They also rarely wrestled on TV. As far as Burchill goes, he's supposed to be on the way to OVW. May be months before he debuts on TV though.

Guest DeputyHawk Report post Posted February 8, 2005 Great write-ups, Fro. ovwrestling.com has now gone almost a full month without any updates. And they have the nerve to have this legend emblazoned on their site: If you want to find out what's the latest news with Ohio Valley Wrestling and our OVW Superstars, you could go to www.mommygotmeacomputerforchristmassoInowrunawrestlingnewsboard.net or you could simply come to the best place with all the latest news and updates... OVWrestling.com. Kickin' ass in the ring and on the Web! EDIT: Insert of the 2/5/05 show report from ovwrestling.com. To their credit, they've just done a huge bumper update of show reports, just takes them a while to get there sometimes. I wonder if this is Lance/Garrison Cade being permanently demoted back down the roster - has he been on Heat at all recently? Injured? I think the last time I can remember seeing him was that PPV match with Coach against Tajiri & Rhyno, back at Vengeance last year I think. 02/05/2005 - DAVIS ARENA TV CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH BRENT ALBRIGHT VS. KEN DOANE REF: Chris Kay In this opening bout, "The Shooter" Brent Albright defends his newly won title of Television Champion against Ken Doane to continue his bragging rights as well as receive this week's prize of $1,000. And Albright is as determined as he has ever been in the first five minutes of the match by wearing Doane down with chin locks and other subtle submission-type moves before going on to his finisher, The Crowbar. In fact, Albright manages to get The Crowbar on around the five minute mark in a repeat of last week's match, but Doane, who isn't close enough to reach a ringrope with his hand, manages to catch his foot across it breaking the hold. That break may have been what gives Doane his burst of momentum for the next two minutes as he comes back with clotheslines, a couple of right hands, and then puts on The Doanation from the top rope. His cover on Albright gets him about two and four-fifths. He then whips on Albright from the ropes in an attempt at a sunset flip, but Albright scouts the move and is able to slip out, pull Doane's legs up in the air, and flip him back on his shoulders especially with his handful of Doane's tights! The referee counts three, and Albright remains the Television Champion for a second week claiming the $1,000. INTERVIEW WITH M-N-M Jim Cornette brings to the ring Joey Matthews, Johnny Nitro, and Melina to inform them he has found a suitable tag team for them to face in next week's show so that they may earn a title shot for the OVW Southern Tag Team belts. Before Cornette makes his announcement however, Matthews and Nitro decide to get cute and try to guess who Cornette may have picked. They go through the OVW tag roster and determine they have beat everyone if they aren't on the disabled list already like Mac Johnson. Cornette says he went outside of the OVW talent roster for a team. "What?! Did you go to the old folks' home and dust off The Midnight Express?!" mused Matthews. Cornette responds that the team he has picked as been WWE World Tag Team Champions on several occasions and could give M-N-M a run for their money... The Dudley Boys! Nitro nearly has a stroke at the mention of the name, but Matthews, ever the confident one, says it won't be much of a challenge. "It's okay if Bubby asks Devon to get the table, cause we ain't never had a problem gettin' wood!" DANNY INFERNO W/TRUDI DENUCCI VS. VIC DELICIOUS REF: Ray Ramsey After coming off the momentum of the attack on Idol last week, Danny Inferno comes to the ring to take out some more aggression on newcomer Vic Delicious. And while Delicious gives up some height and weight to Inferno, he makes up the loss in determination. The first part of the match is spent trading right hands, clotheslines, and chest chops. Delicious seems to give as good as he gets in almost equal measure. But Inferno has a bit of a mean streak in him that Delicious just can't compensate for. Delicious comes off the ropes with an attempt at a clothesline, but Inferno hooks his arm, puts him in a move like a full nelson, and then slams him face first into the canvas. His pin on Delicious is only a technicality at this point as it would take an act of God to get Delicious' shoulders off the mat. SPECIAL LOOK AT THE HEARTBREAKERS A unique video of The Heartbreakers is shown to the studio audience as well as the folks at home detailing an afternoon with Romeo Roselli and Antonio "The Promise" Thomas. Mo' Green walks in on them where they're crying over the death of Bambi's mother from the Walt Disney cartoon. Green tells them it's time to get out, circulate, and spend some currency on clothes. But they have to get dressed for the day out and head into the closet. Seconds later, Green opens the closet door, they come out of the closet (ahem), and are ready with their red feather boas and pink headbands. The rest of the video is set to the tune of "It's Raining Men" as they go about strutting their stuff through one of the local malls. They try a few suits finally settling on some decent threads despite the pastel sport coats. They end their shopping spree at the food court where they are presented two separate drinks. Thomas throws his away keeping the straw. He gladly sticks his straw in Roselli's cup, and they share the beverage as the video ends. The spaghetti scene from Lady and The Tramp this ain't! As the video ends, we go back live to the arena where Aaron "The Idol" Stevens comes out of the back forcefully dragging Trudi Denucci to the ring. He hauls her in the squared circle, hollers that what were about to see is what will happen to Danny Inferno, and then puts his patented twisting neck breaker on Denucci with such force as she almost bounces off the canvas!!! He saunters to the back as officials come out to Denucci's aid. Seconds later, Danny Inferno runs out all covered with soap as he apparently was in the shower only seconds before and runs Stevens off. INTERVIEW WITH BOLIN SERVICES Jim Cornette, evidently a glutton for punishment this week, puts himself through the task of talking to Kenny "Starmaker" Bolin about the lost of $200 he suffered last week when Steve Lewington went two full minutes with Blaster Lasheley. But Bolin doesn't see it like that. He claims Lewington stole the money because he spent time running from Lasheley eating up seconds that cost Bolin money instead of actually wrestling. Bolin says he thinks Lewington ought to give the money back and even apologize for taking it last week. He says he, Lasheley, and Mike Mondo will not leave the ring until Lewington comes out and apologizes. Lewington does indeed come out and brings the $200 with him. He gets on the mic and with a subtle British accent says he's not out to apologize but issue a challenge of his own. He challenges Lasheley to another match, but this time, double or nothing! If Lasheley wins, Lewington has to give the money back, but if Lewington wins, Bolin has to shell out $200 for every minute that Lewington lasts in the ring. After much careful thought and consideration, Bolin accepts the challenge! STEVE LEWINGTON VS. BLASTER LASHELEY W/BOLIN SERVICES REF: Chris Kay Chris Kay comes to the ring to officiate the match, and as he's telling Bolin to leave the ring, Mondo takes the kevlar army helmet he wears and clips Lewington in the back of the knee with it! Kay never sees the attack and calls for the bell. Lasheley goes berserk, grabs Lewington up, and then takes a running powerslam on the helpless Brit. He then lays his hands on Lewington's chest pinning him to the mat. From the opening bell to the closing bell, the match lasts all of nine seconds! Bolin gleefully takes his money as the rest of Bolin Services looks on at the vanquished. $5,000 BOUNTY MATCH ELIJAH BURKE VS. LANCE CADE REF: Robert Brisko In a second attempt to put OVW Champion Elijah Burke out of his career, Matt Morgan sends WWE Superstar Lance Cade to try and take out the newest OVW fan favorite and win $5,000 in the process. The deceptively big Cade goes toe to toe with Burke for several minutes as the momentum goes back and forth between the two men. But Cade is able to turn the match decidedly in his favor when he clotheslines Burke over the top rope. Brisko makes a judgment call in not disqualifying Cade for putting Burke over the top rope citing that Burke's momentum is what carried him over. Nonetheless, Cade has taken control of the match as he heads outside the ring. He picks Burke up and bodyslams him on the concrete floor below sending shockwaves of pain through Burke's back! Cade then enters the ring bringing Burke with him. He suplexes Burke over the top rope putting more punishment on the screaming back of the OVW Champion. But somehow, Burke musters some strength to mount a meager offense for a few seconds. A big boot to the side of the head from Cade stops that idea as he then wears Burke down with a headlock close to the canvas. Burke breaks out by lifting Cade back and putting a back suplex on him. Cade gets up and tries to close in on Burke, but Burke meets him with rights hands to the gut each time. He then puts his fists to Cade's face and starts in again with an offense. Burke catches Cade with a spinebuster, but his try at a pin only goes to a count of two. Cade puts a thumb to the eye of Burke and then puts him down with a bodyslam. Cade goes to the top turnbuckle for a flying elbow, but Burke rolls out of the way so that all Cade catches is canvas. Burke follows up with a facebuster to the delirious Cade, hooks the leg, and gets a count of three! While the action would normally end there, evidently Morgan would not be satisfied with another win by Burke. Out comes Morgan's bounty hunter from last time, Vengeance! He runs in and starts beating up on Burke. Very soon, Morgan himself comes to the ring! Despite the indefinite suspension, the former OVW Champion assists Vengeance in beating up on the current OVW Champion! Vengeance seems to do the most damage when he lands across the prone Burke with that chest protector of his. Referees come out of the back to Burke's defense, but the two masked men run them out as fast as they run in. A few OVW rookies come out to help, but they seem even less effective than the referees. Finally, to the delight of the crowd, "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry rushes out of the back and runs off Morgan, Vengeance, and Cade with a simple, but effective, right fist to the side of the head of each man! Guest DeputyHawk Report post Posted February 11, 2005 Spoilers from the most recent show. Hopefully comes across as well on TV as it sounds live. OVW TV taping spoilers with Dudleys return by Vicki Lynn Brown Please credit http://www.jimmyvan.com if using these results OVW TV Taping Results (2/9/05) Taped in Louisville, Kentucky Report by Vicki Lynn Brown of JimmyVan.com Here are the spoilers for the show that will air on 2/12/05: Match 1 - Seth Skyfire/Mike Taylor vs. Vik Delicious/Deuce Shade (not televised) Taylor and Shade started the match with a lockup. Taylor with a scoop slam for a one count, then Shade tagged Delicious. Delicious went for an elbow drop after some showboating and dancing but gave Taylor too much time, and missed the drop. Taylor got an arm wringer on Delicious, who tagged Shade. Shade in but Taylor got a drop toe hold and Skyfire came in to help out. Taylor used a wheel barrow suplex, only reversed it using Skyfire as a weapon, and nailed Shade with Skyfire. All four men in the ring, and both teams doubleteaming each other. Shade delivered a hard insiguri to Taylor, and he wasn't even the legal man. Delicious tagged Shade in and Shade and Taylor traded punches. Shade and Delicious, once again, doubleteamed Taylor. Taylor came back with a big back body drop and was able to get to his corner to tag in Skyfire. Skyfire came in with two big clotheslines to Delicious and a spinning heel kick. He followed with a moonsault DDT and an insiguri. Shade came in for the save and got what I can only call a springboard leg drop on Skyfire's arm. But Skyfire was able to come back and pin Delicious while Shade was trying to make the save, but missed and put his shoulder right into the ring post. Winners: Seth Skyfire/Mike Taylor Match 2 - Alexis Laree vs. Jillian Hall (not televised) Neither of these ladies has been in the public eye lately. We all knew that Laree was out having a breast enhancement for her eventual WWE debut. But it would appear that Hall had another one as well. Mind you, it only appears that Hall has had another enhancement - I know nothing for sure. The match started out with a lock up and Hall got an arm wringer on Laree. Laree reversed into an arm wringer on Hall. Laree delivered a very sloppy flying head scissors to Hall, who sold it just as sloppily. Laree followed that up with an equally sloppy drop kick. She then got another flying headscissors on Hall out of the corner. Hall threw Laree out of the ring, and went out after her to work her over. Hall eventually rolled Laree back into the ring and delivered a big elbow to Laree after whipping her into the ropes. Hall nailed Laree with a strong backbreaker which looked great. Laree landed a knee to the side of Hall's head to break the hold, but Hall quickly recovered and put Laree with a big sidewalk slam. She followed with a scoop slam for a two count. Hall used the hair for a five count to get what looked to be a modified camel clutch. Laree managed to come backwith two big rights and an Irish whip off the ropes, followed by a botched spot. After the blunder, they both got a bit sloppy. Laree went for a DDT and Hall blocked it, which allowed Laree to attempt the submission Gail Kim was using toward the end of her time with WWE. Hall simply fell on Laree and went for the pin, but Laree broke it, and got Hall with a big DDT for the pin and the win. Winner: Alexis Laree Match 3 - "The Thrill Seekers" Johnny Jeter/Matt Cappotelli (Southern Tag Team Champions) vs. "The Heartbreakers" Antonio 'The Promise' Thomas/Romeo Roselli w/Mo Green (non-title match) Cappotelli and Thomas started the match. Thomas danced and Cappotelli, not impressed, got Thomas in an arm wringer, followed by an arm drag. Thomas returned the favor with a scoop slam. Thomas went for a leg drop and missed. Cappotelli didn't miss his leg drop and then tagged in Jeter. Thomas tagged Roselli. Jeter played a few head games with Roselli then tagged in Cappotelli. Thomas and Roselli both rolled out of the ring, and Jeter & Cappotelli went right after them with double baseball slides. Cappotelli delivered an effective noggin knocker to Roselli and Thomas, but Thomas and Roselli doubleteamed Cappotelli with a little help from Mo Green. They doubleteamed Cappotelli again and then Roselli tagged in Thomas. They isolated Cappotelli for quite some time, making quick tags by staying close to their corner. Roselli tagged back in just as Cappotelli got to his corner for the tag to Jeter, but Thomas pulled Jeter off the apron from outside the ring so he wasn't available for the tag. Another doubleteam on Cappotelli by Roselli and Thomas and Thomas tagged back in. The doubleteaming and tagging continued for about two minutes when finally Roselli allowed Cappotelli to get the tag to Jeter. Jeter in with a back body drop, spinning heel kick, and atomic drop to anyone moving. Mo Green came in the ring, and the ref called for the bell and the DQ. After the match, Green's "attire" was still in the ring, and Jeter picked up the hat and the glasses and did a relatively good Michael Jackson, complete with the foot movements and grabbing his crotch (which drove the little girls wild). Winners: The Thrill Seekers - Johnny Jeter/Matt Cappotelli Cornette came out in front of the desk to replay footage from last week's $100/minute match between Steve Lewington and Blaster Lashley, where Lewington agreed to a "double or nothing" stipulation, meaning that it was either $200/minute for Lewington or Kenny Bolin got his money back. Lewington lost the match due to interference from Mondo and Bolin got his money back. Match 4 - Steve Lewington vs. Mike Mondo w/ Kenny "The King" Bolin Lewington came on strong with Mondo, which, as good as Mondo is, is what you have to do to get any type of advantage with him. Lewington was going for a trip around the world to the four corners, but only made it to three. He got a big back body drop on Mondo, but that was enough to motivate Mondo. Both men ended up outside the ring and Mondo decided to work on the left leg of Lewington by wrapping it around the ring post twice. As if that wasn't enough, he decided to execute a beautiful figure four leg lock on Lewington around the ring post. This is the first time I've seen that move done since Dinsmore left. Mondo kept the figure four to the five count. Mondo continued to work on the left knee/leg of Lewington. He put Lewington in the corner and went in after him with a Harley Race/Triple H high knee, but Lewington moved and Mondo missed him and nailed the ring post instead. Lewington picked right up on the weak left knee of Mondo. Lewington and Mondo ended up knocking noggins and Lewington fell to the mat on his back, while Mondo fell into the ropes, with his arms draped over the top rope. Bolin used his brief case to shove Mondo off the ropes and he fell, conviently, on top of Lewington for a two count. Lewington rolled Mondo for the three count. Winner: Steve Lewington Cornette showed footage of the match between Lance Cade and the OVW Heavyweight Champion, Elijah Burke from last week, where Vengeance (a.k.a. The Dark Secret, a.k.a. Mordecai, a.k.a. Seven) and The Blue Print (a.k.a. Matt Morgan) came out and interfered. Match 5 - Elijah Burke/Mark Henry vs. The Blue Print/Vengeance (Note: Morgan's suspension from OVW was lifted, supposedly, because Burke demanded the match - it's my assumption that the suspension will resume next week) Vengeance and Burke started the match with a lockup and Vengeance putting Burke in the corner. Burke came out of the corner swinging and went for a whip off the ropes, but Vengeance reversed and somehow the spot got badly botched. The Blue Print tagged in and Burke tagged in Henry. Henry and Morgan trash talked one another for a minute, then they traded blows. Henry delivered a powerful clothesline to Morgan off the ropes. Henry scoop slammed Morgan then tagged Burke. Morgan quickly gained control of the match, even more so after Burke put Morgan into the ropes going for a drop kick off the ropes, but Vengeance held onto Morgan and Burke went down hard. Vengeance and Morgan doubleteamed Burke, putting him out of the ring. Morgan tagged in Vengeance. Burke made it to his corner for the tag to Henry. All four men ended up in the ring after Morgan made the save on a pin on Vengeance by Henry. Henry delivered a big splash to Vengeance and Morgan ended up nutting himself on the top rope. Henry tagged in Burke, who got the pin and the win. Lance Cade came out after the bell and Cade, Morgan and Vengeance started to beat down on Henry and Burke. Lance Storm came out with a kindo stick to make the save. The crowd went WILD and started to chant "ECW". Storm took his bows and helped to escort Burke and Henry out of the ring. Winners: Elijah Burke/Mark Henry (Note - I spoke with Lance Storm after the show and asked him if this was a tease for us to prepare us for a possible return to the ring for him. He said that there were no plans for that right now. I asked him couldn't he tell how much we had all missed him in the ring by the crowd response, to which he just turned and smiled a very genuine smile then left. Very nice guy.) Match 6 - The Dudley Boyz vs. MNM (Joey Matthews/Johnny Nitro w/Melina) Matthews and DVon started the match with a lockup which moved to a side headlock on Matthews by DVon. Matthews broke the hold and really took it to DVon, but not for long. DVon back with a big shoulder off the ropes and a leg drop then tagged in Bubba. Bubba scoop slammed Matthews, and Matthews had all he could take, so he tagged in Nitro. Nitro called Bubba out asking for the test of strength. The audience was chanting for tables, and Bubba asked the crowd to calm down. He met Nitro in the middle of the ring, where Nitro was waiting. Bubba held up his hand. When Nitro held his hand up and was about to connect, Bubba switched hands. Nitro went with the other hand, and Bubba switched again. It got faster and faster til Bubba turned around and danced to the crowd. He turned back around, got a neckbreaker on Nitro and followed it with, I believe, a fisherman's suplex (the guy in front of me was tall). Things turned around, though, and Nitro was in control and was distracting the ref while Matthews and Melina both grabbed a leg of Bubba's and made a wish with him, nutting him with the ring post. Nitro tagged in Matthews. MNM isolated Bubba for a good amount of time. They doubleteamed him for a huge back body, then Matthews tagged in Nitro. Bubba managed a spear to Nitro from his knees, and was able to tag in his brother. DVon in with a huge shoulder to Matthews and a neckbreaker to Nitro. They doubleteamed DVon but Bubba got the blind tag when MNM put DVon into the ropes. Matthews, who was the legal man, got the star treatment from Bubba because Bubba did the Curly Shuffle for Matthews. Then we all got a treat when DVon went for the "Wazzzup" shot on Matthews. Bubba called for the tables and delivered a full nelson sit down slam to Matthews. He had the pin but Melina distracted the ref. Bubba went over to Melina at the ropes, and Matthews was going for Bubba from behind, when Bubba moved, causing Matthews to put Melina down. Bubba got a sidewalk slam on Matthews for a pin, but Nitro came in for the save, and when he did, Matthews low blowed Bubba. Matthews went for a chair shot on Bubba and missed. Bubba was going to use the chair, but Brisco took it from him. Matthews pulled brass knucks out of his pants while the ref was busy with Bubba and he nailed Bubba with them for the pin and the win. Nitro nailed DVon from behind and MNM set up a table. The Dudleys were playing possum, and came back and Bubba put Nitro out of the ring, then DVon and Bubba 3-D'd Matthews through the table and DVon testified. After that, they broke up the table and Bubba and DVon autographed a piece, got a little boy in the ring and gave it to him. Then they took the mic and told the crowd that it's nice and a rush to come out to the ring in front of 20,000 people, but to come out in front of a bunch of crazy asses like us was just as much of a rush. DVon said he had seen a sign in the crowd that said "Welcome to Dudleyville" and he said that as far as he was concerned Louisville was Dudleyville and that he and Bubba had just testified. Winners: MNM (Joey Matthews/Johnny Nitro w/Melina) Match 7 - Aaron "The Idol" Stevens/Brent "The Shooter" Albright vs. Nick Nemeth/Ken Doane (not televised) Idol went to the announce desk and said, basically, that he couldn't believe that he and Albright were being made to take on such amateurs, and said that if Nemeth and Doane would come on out and just give up they'd accept it. Then Albright and Idol hid on either side of the curtain. They ambushed Nemeth and Doane when they came out, but they didn't have quite the effect they had hoped for. Idol and Nemeth started the match. Idol tagged in Albright. Nemeth gave Albright his money's worth. Albright tagged in Idol. Idol choked Nemeth on the rope for a four count. Idol then threw Nemeth out of the ring, where Albright worked him over. Finally, Albright rolled Nemeth back into the ring. Idol tagged in Albright, who delivered a perfect suplex to Nemeth. Albright and Idol doubleteamed Nemeth and Albright tagged in Idol, who came in with a big elbow drop followed by a wrist lock. Tag was made to Albright, who came in with a backbreaker for Nemeth for a two count. Albright tagged Idol and Nemeth made it to his corner to tag Doane. Doane in strong. He delivered a resounding superkick to Albright, but Idol came in with a facebuster for Doane. I missed something, because the next thing I knew, Albright put someone over the top rope and the ref DQ'd Idol and Albright. Winners by DQ: Nick Nemeth/Ken Doane In attendance last night were Simon Dean, Lance Storm, Chris Masters, The Shane twins (I think that's their name), Daniel Puder and the Dudley Boyz. Puder signed posters that he was handing out, while Storm made a quiet getaway. The Shane Twins didn't say much to anyone, but that's because no one really bombarded them for autographs or conversation. Masters made himself scarce as did Simon Dean. The Dudleys came out and signed autographs outside. Bubba was very subdued, but he looked tired. DVon was extremely friendly, smiling and signing everything anyone put in front of him. I got to meet them both and got them to autograph a WWE magazine that had them on the cover. Nice guys, both of them. No announcements of note were made at the show. Fro 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2005 Spoilers from the most recent show. Didn't have time to do a report this week, but this was probably the best show workrate wise of the year. Mondo goes all Bret Hart on Lewington & Dudleys/MNM really picked up at the end after looking like it was the Dudleys phoning it in.
Guest DeathBecomesYou Report post Posted February 17, 2005 It's good to hear that Joey Matthews is now under contract to WWE now, i'm still wondering why MNM aren't on Raw or SD every week, they could give the shitty tag divisions a good boost.
Guest DeputyHawk Report post Posted February 23, 2005 Dale Sherman's 19/2/05 TV report from ovwrestling.com. The tag team scene's rocking right now, WWE would do well to have a look and make some notes. Let's Get Physical sounds gold - have to get the tape when cash-flow allows. Anyone in the know, what was with Lance Storm's run-in last week - was it just a one-off? I'd love to see Storm back in the mix if his nagging injuries are healing up. 02/19/2005 - DAVIS ARENA OVWrestling.com welcomes back Dale Sherman as he will be supplying the weekly television results keeping fans abreast with his unique perspective on Ohio Valley Wrestling action as he did for last season's Six Flags events. Sherman is an accomplished author of several books centered around the rock-n-roll genre including biographies of KISS and Alice Cooper. SIX MAN TAG-TEAM MATCH SETH SKYFIRE, KEN DOANE, & NICK NEMETH VS. VIK DELICIOUS, ROBERT FURY, & DA BEAST REF: Ray Ramsey An unseasonably warm February in Louisville could no way compare to a hot night at Davis Arena, where a night of OVW matches kicked off with a massive Six Man Tag-Team event, featuring fan-favorites Seth Skyfire and Ken Doane, with newcomer Nick Nemeth, against the powerhouse teaming of Da Beast, Vik Delicious, and Robert Fury. As the men sized their opponents up, it was agreed that Skyfire and Fury would start off the match, with Skyfire soon gaining an advantage over Fury as the match began. Skyfire tagged in Doane, who continued with the momentum Skyfire had brought into the ring and even a tag by Fury to Vik did little to change matters. That is, until Nemeth was tagged in and soon found himself at the mercy of a devastating clothesline from Da Beast at the ropes that literally had Nemeth head over heels. Whipping Nemeth into his teammates' corner, Vik tagged in Da Beast, who continued to beat down on Nemeth, with a pin attempt only stopped by a run-in from Skyfire. Fury was tagged back in to work over Nemeth some more, but a scramble in the corner led to Nemeth tossing himself into his own corner and managing to tag in Skyfire. Although not tagged in, Vik tried to take a swing at Skyfire, only to find himself heading straight back out of the ring, while Skyfire then put Fury into a pin that was thwart by Da Beast. This was enough for Doane, who jumped in to take care of Da Beast, leading to Nemeth joining Doane in double-clotheslining Da Beast. Nemeth seemed mighty proud of their work, flushed in a pride that was soon knocked out of him by Vik. Doane then superkicked Vik, followed Doane being on the receiving end of a kick to the stomach by Fury. Fury attempted to get the better of Doane, but Doane countered his always dependable neckbreaker that sent Fury flat on his back and ready to be the victim of Skyfire's patented flying legdrop. After all that action, Fury was in no position to stop Skyfire pinning him for the three-count, and anyone that watched the frenzied match would certainly understand why. INTERVIEW WITH TANK & CHAD TOLAND Before introducing Tank and Chad to the ring for an interview, Jim Cornette reminded fans that Elijah Burke will be defending the Championship Belt next week, and that Burke had promised a surprise for that match. No matter how enticing that announcement was, however, any audience enthusiasm was crushed upon seeing Tank and Chad come to the ring, no matter how blindly Tank's new blond hair was. From their comments, it appeared that a legal battle had erupted, with Tank Toland complaining about the unsafe working conditions he had suffered in OVW over the past several months. While the person Tank should have been after in those cases could clearly be pointed out in a mirror to him, he claims that he was crippled by Chris Cage in a backroom attack and that a judge had ruled in Toland's favor, barring Cage from coming within fifty feet of the Tolands. Tank swears that Cage is a menace to society, and that it took him three long months to recuperate from the injuries he suffered. The Tolands said it was a conspiracy against them (again, where's that mirror when you need it?), but no matter; they were "back and better than every before." They announced that they would be coming soon after the Tag-Team title as the Blond Bombers. TV CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH BRENT ALBRIGHT VS. STEVE LEWINGTON REF: Chris Kay It was week three of Brent Albright's domination of the TV Title and just as in the past two weeks, he faced a challenger for the weekly $1,000 prize that comes with the title. Albright's opponent this week was the skyrocketing fan-favorite, Steve Lewington, who made his way around the ring to greet fans before entering to start the match. A quick lock-up by Albright started things off, but was countered quickly by Lewington into a near-pin that saw Albright scurry out of the ring to rethink his strategy. Steve had no intention of allowing Brent any time to think and darted out of the ring to give Brent chase. Lewington became too hasty in his race to catch Albright, however, and found himself at the mercy of a rather vicious-looking clothesline from Albright. Dazed, Lewington was dragged back into the ring by Albright, but still managed to shake off the effect of the clothesline long enough to kick out of a pin attempt. Steve then gained a surprising upper-hand with a series of punches to Brent's head, leading to a pin attempt against Albright that was foiled at the last split-second. With Lewington's left arm in pain from Albright's attack, the two men began going at it to the point of exhaustion, until the two slammed into each other with such force that Lewington flew out of the ring and hit the ground hard. Suddenly, Kenny Bolin appeared out of the blue at ringside to argue with Kay, while Mike Mondo and Blaster Lashley made their way over to Lewington on the floor to rough him up a bit. Or rather, Mondo tried, only to wind up getting his head handed to him by Lewington until Lashley suckerpunched Lewington and then threw him back into the ring. Finally in the proper position, Albright put Lewington into The Crowbar, leading to Lewington submitting and Albright with the win, the title, and another $1,000. NON-SANCTIONED GRUDGE MATCH DANNY INFERNO VS. AARON "THE IDOL" STEVENS REF: Ray Ramsey After The Idol's attack on Trudi Denucci two weeks before, it was obvious that the Jersey Crew was no more and those that were the best of friends were now the worst of enemies. As a supercilious Idol made his way to the ring, Dean and Jim reminded viewers that the match was non-sanctioned and that OVW would not be held responsible for any injuries suffered in the "anything goes" match to follow. Idol entered the ring and awaited the emergence of Inferno from the entrance, but he was surprised by Inferno emerging behind him from the opposite side of the ring with a garbage can and a beatdown so fierce that The Idol soon finds himself on the floor being kicked in the stomach by Trudi. After ramming The Idol's head into the announcers' table, Inferno punches The Idol several times before slamming him into a pillar by ringside. With Idol unable to move, Inferno began pulling away the padded mat around the ring and motioning to piledrive The Idol's head into the hard cement. Seeing what was to come, The Idol managed to throw off Inferno right dab into the ringpost. The Idol followed that by slamming a full garbage can off Inferno's head and then throwing Inferno back into the ring for a pin attempt. A dazed Inferno kicked out of the pin, so the Idol grabbed the trash-can Inferno had brought to the ring and set it up between the ropes in one corner of the ring in order to whip Inferno into it. Inferno managed to stop the whip, only to find himself down on the mat with The Idol using a foot to choke him. Another pin attempt of Inferno was stopped, and the two begin punching at each other in a near dead-heat of power between the two men. Idol soon found himself at the mercy of a pin-attempt by Inferno, and maneuvered out of it, only to be whipped straight into the trash-can still lodged between the ropes in the corner. With The Idol in massive pain, Inferno once again appeared to be ready to piledrive The Idol, when Beth Phoenix ran out from the entrance to attack Trudi. Seeing Trudi in trouble, Inferno jumped out of the ring to pull Phoenix off. This allowed The Idol to attack Inferno anew on the outside of the ring and the two men traded punches as the two women locked on to each other to see who could beat in whose brains in first. At this point the match was called, but the ending of the match did not mean a thing to any of the four as they continued fighting no matter how many number of refs, wrestlers, or even Jim Cornette himself jump in to split them apart. Even when things had moved to the back, the fighting continued and spilled back out through the curtain once again. It was obvious to all that this grudge is hardly finished; just with Beth Phoenix attached as a new player on the board. Only time will tell who will end up being the last man - or woman - in this deadly feud. THE HEARTBREAKERS W/ MO' GREEN - "LET'S GET PHYSICAL" The Heartbreakers have a music video now showing them working out to the tune of Olivia Newton John's "Let's Get Physical." Frankly, the video has to be seen to be believed, as it is impossible to describe. It was obvious that the boys certainly did seem to enjoy bouncing on balls a lot, though. SOUTHERN TAG TITLE THE THRILLSEEKERS VS. M-N-M REF: Robert Brisko The M-N-M Entourage made their way to the ring in their unimitatable style, yet hardly to match the cheers and applause that the audience gave Johnny Jeter and Matt Capotelli as they made their way to the ring with the Southern Tag-Team Belts around their waists. A quick determination led to Joey and Matt starting off the match, and the two mouthed off to each other for a few seconds before Joey slapped Matt several times and sent Matt flying out of the ring. Overconfident, Joey crowed to the audience, little realizing that Matt was quickly back in and ready to take advantage of Joey lowering his guard. With that, Matt controlled the match for a time, until a finger-poke to the eye by Joey gave Joey a chance to take control. During all this, Mo' Green came to the announcers' table to complain about the Heartbreakers not being given a shot at the belts. Whatever Green's complaint is would have to wait, as back in the ring Capotelli and Jeter cleared the ring of both Matthews and Nitro, and Jeter flips over the top ropes to smash the M and N of M-N-M to the ground, and then throwing Joey back in for Matt. Soon after, Jeter was tagged back in and it appeared that Matthews was about to have to give up the ghost; until Melina attracted Brisko's attention, allowing Nitro to throw Jeter into the ringpost and out to the ground. Jeter re-entered the ring, only to get double-teamed by Matthews and Nitro and then thrown back out, followed by a Melina clawing up Jeter's back as he moved back towards the ropes. With so much abuse, Jeter was set to be pinned by Nitro, but Matt came in for the save by dropping his weight on Joey. As Matt was being told to move back outside, Nitro and Matthews again double-teamed on Jeter, and Nitro was tagged in. After a short bit of work on Jeter, Nitro tagged Matthews back in for a pin-attempt that Jeter still managed to stop in time. Finally, Jeter tagged in Matt, only for Nitro to try to stop him. Nitro got kicked out of the ring by Matt for his troubles, and a second attempt carried the same results for Nitro as well. Still, Matthews and Nitro managed to double-team on Matt, leading to a two-count as Jeter managed to stop it. Jeter and Nitro then moved to the corner to fight, which drew Brisko's attention away from Matt and Matthews. With Matt down, Joey motioned for Melina to grab a steel chair from under the apron. Melina found the chair and was in the process of handing it up to Joey when Mo' Green dashed out and struggled to take the chair way from Melina. In the scuffle, Melina lost her grip, causing Green to fall backwards and accidentally smash the chair against Joey's skull. As Joey staggered in pain, Matt pulled Joey backwards and into a pin for the win. The Thrillseekers hold up the belts painfully, but proudly as another excellent night of OVW came to a close. I need to pick up some of the older OVW shows methinks, from the sounds of this thread. Especially with The Bashams, if only to see what potential's currently being wasted.
