Try mixing up some Lean and sipping it over a period of time.

It sounds like IDRM and Jingus were both at first plateau. Did you feel like you had eaten fake/weak ecstasy?

Dunno, never done X, been afraid to ever since a girl I knew got a bad batch of it and died. It felt more like I was drunk than anything else. I could definitely tell it was working, but a bowl of decent weed would've done the same thing if not better.

One should really combine the two. Did you get double vision? That's the sure sign of second plateau.

Nah, it's a long story but I can't get any weed right now. (Unless I made a road trip up the coast and got Kotz to score me some.) No double vision either, just a general mild buzz and drunk-like clumsiness. What is this system of "plateaus" you speak of?

DXM isn't the only drug that does this, but it's a good example. There are four very different, distinct levels of intoxication. First and second plateau are really the only ones most folks bother with recreationally.

Third plateau makes a person completely useless, and fourth is total mind/body dissociation.

Ah, this is similar to how I grade my reefer highs.

1st level: mild buzz. I can tell it's working but I want more, now.

2nd: officially stoned, just wanna sit back on the couch, sip cola and watch wrestling. Maybe pack another bowl in a little while.

3rd: fuuuuuucked up. Coherent conversation and walking in a straight line are basically impossible. Takes almost an act of God to get me out of my chair. No more for me, I'm good.

4th: completely goddamn obliterated. I just sit there in a trance, almost completely unresponsive to the outside world. Probably stay this way til I fall asleep.

Pot doesn't do that, really. You might think it does but it doesn't. Pot works more like alcohol, only with a finite point of saturation where you aren't going to get any higher.

Well, if you're talking about hallucinogens, then you're talking alone as my experience with 'em is limited at best. Typically though you're right, weed alone can't get me anywhere near the 4th stage; it's only done that once, the second time I ever smoked it (and it was some FINE-ass bud). Usually it takes a combination of stuff: those nights when I smoke a lot, plus have a couple beers, and a xanax, and a pain pill, and some cough medicine, etc.

Speaking of which, I'm trying this robotrippin' one more time. I found a Tussin mix that has both DXM and my own pet favorite, pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, plus I've got a couple loritabs and half a bottle of that expectorant-hybrid crap if I get desperate. Synchronize watches: chugging in three, two, one...

Since when am I the drug hookup guy? Yeesh.

That second plateau of robotripping is real fun. I could never do it with any kind of regularity, rather saving it for some kind of specific reason or event, but it's nuts while still having control.

Speaking of drugs, thank goodness that four day bake-off ended. My tolerance was getting alarmingly great. My schtick is that I'm a lightweight with everything, I can't have this sully my reputation.

Kotzenjunge's latest drug fascination reminds me of the girl who discovered booze in grade 8, but can't afford it, and in turn resorted to chugging cough syrup.

Whatever you do, don't fuck up and accidentally go 4th plateau, or there's a good chance you might not come back completely..

I can handle it. How does one reach this promised land? Up the dosage?

Damn... why am I stuck down here away from home and all my good connections? Curses! I needs my reefa like Popeye needs his spin... uh, spinach.... that green crap that I can't spell right now.

FUCK, if I knew you were gonna do this tonight, IDRM, I woulda saved the bottle so we could've started at the same time, all scientificly precise and shit. I've mostly come down now, it was a fun trip tho. I highly recommend the "maximum strength cough & cold" formula with a beer on top of it, it's worked out much better than any of the others.

One piece of advice: if you watch any movies, make sure they're GOOD movies, I watched The Missing while I was trippin' and damn near clawed my eyes out at the depressing predictability of it all.

It finally did it for real this time, I was full on tripping. Agent must be a lightweight, what with his half a bottle stuff. Took two full bottles. I'm coming down now. I loved the experience and would do it again.

That's more so you make sure you're not the second type of DXM user. The first is Kotzenjunge. Yeah, fun, but not a habit. Sounds like you're the third. The second type goes to hell, due to their body's inability to effectively turn the chemical into the FUN chemical (which escapes me at the moment). DXM itself is no fun, it's when it gets all oxidized and spread around and such that it's recreational. Two bottles in the system of someone who can't handle it can be way worse than an acid flip-out.

I don't know about a habit... I'd do it again, but I'd imagine as more of special occasions thing, due largely to my inability to do much of anything while in the throes of it's influence.

Now that I'm pretty much down, my reactions:

It wreaked havoc on my sense of time. It seemed as though years were passing, while at the same time no time was passing at all.

It gave me slight cotton mouth for some reason. I was drinking diet code red mountain dews, which I'm sure only made it worse.

I felt three distict stages of the trip, although the last may have been a regression to the first. It's hard to tell. I was able to converse fairly coherently throughout, both on the computer and to people in the room. I did experience some mild disassociative affects.

Yeah, that third gear was the step down. Classic 2nd plateau. Remember any conversation?
