Probably the 4 wins over New York. Football-Super Bowl is a lock, and should be number 1. College Football-since no Bowl games stood out. USC/Cal or Louisville/Miami. Same with a 'Top Performances of the Year' list or something like that. As a game it wasn't much. There should probably on be one game from the ALCS on there and Game 4 and 5 were MUCH better all around. Some of the good NLCS games might not find a way on which would be a shame. If anything, golfers are in better shape now than ever before. Plus, the final round of the Masters was one of the greatest sports moments of the year. Sorry to do the old hated cliche of "Wrestling analogy in a non wrestling folder", but Mickelson winning was like Benoit winning WM 20 for golf only bigger. Add in Vijay's amazing year, Ernie Els getting shafted at all the majors, a GREAT Match Play tourney at the beginning of the season with some good matchups (Love vs Mickelson, Love vs Tiger) and you have a good year of golf. Find a close up shot, his loose shirts don't really highlight how muscular he really is. Check out Mickelson in 2002 and his enormous man boobs. He at least looks fit now. Well, Stadler's still fat, but he's on the Champions now, so he can at least have an excuse. Yes, The Masters is among the best sports moments of the year, top 10. You kind of have to be a golf fan to appreciate how big this was. Mickelson's performance made it easy to overlook the end of Arnie's era. The Benoit analogy is extremely accurate. A fine year of golf indeed, lots of comeback players, couple players to watch to return in 2005, great tournaments, Singh taking over, Els's shaft.......Best I've seen in some time. One of my friends freaking got to go to the Masters. The idiot doesn't watch Arnie's last hole. He calls me the next day like "What was the big deal, just some old guy retiring!" I was dumbfounded. Also--look at Vijay. Guy works out HARDCORE in the weightroom and hits balls for like 4 hours a day. When people like you and I play golf we think "I can hit my 9 iron 150-175ish" for example. A tense pitching matchup involving a near rookie facing the spotlight (Brandon Backe), great defensive plays (Rolen's grab down the 3rd base line, Beltran's diving catch in center), and a Hollywood type ending with a 9th inning game winning homer. Can't remember the whole order offhand, but the whole ALCS was #1 (the July 1st Yanks/Sox game was there as well), Mickelson's Masters win was #2, and the Superbowl was #3. Events I can't remember the ranking: Duke/Maryland ACC tourney final, Andy Roddick's nearly three hour loss in the Australian Open final (that was #10), UConn/Duke (where the UConn women's win streak was snapped), Lightning/Flames game 6, Pistons/Nets game 5, and Georgia/Purdue Capital One Bowl. Game 6 was pretty good, but there was lots of better hockey this year. Canada/US Prelim at the WC, for example. I'm not into college sports, for example, but I can appreciate talent in any sport when I see it....credit where credit is due. And this might sound like sour grapes, but I don't honestly think if the Flames had won it all that ESPN would have recognised it.
