Never heard he had it before, I have heard of it but never with his name attached to it (i.e. I've heard PSA ads for awarness and treatments but never in the "Hi, I'm Reggie White, and I have sleep apnea..." variety) If that really is the cause of death, I hope that it boost the cause for awarness of sleep apnea Anyway, here is the Fox Sports article Former NFL star White dies Former NFL star White dies Story Tools: Print Email XML John Czarnecki / FOX Sports Posted: 31 minutes ago Reggie White, the former Green Bay Packer and Philadelphia Eagle defensive star, died today at the age of 43. White, whose free-agent signing with the Packers in 1993 altered the NFL landscape, died of respiratory failure due to sleep apnea, according to White's widow, Sara. Sara White spoke this morning with Fox studio co-host James Brown. White's arrival in Green Bay, orchestrated by then-general manager Ron Wolf, proved to be the main defensive ingredient, coupled with quarterback Brett Favre on offense, to the Packers' run to victory in Super Bowl XXXI. Green Bay was upset the following season, 1997, in the Super Bowl by the Denver Broncos. White, whose NFL career began in Philadelphia, played six seasons in Green Bay. He came out of retirement in 2000 to play for the Carolina Panthers. He finished his NFL career with 198 quarterback sacks. He is the only NFL player to have recorded nine consecutive seasons of double-digit sack totals. Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted December 26, 2004 You know I was never a fan of the Eagles, Packers, or Panthers so I only really saw Reggie play on the national stage from time to time or in highlights. Still...this is really hitting close to home with me because he passed away from something I'm affected by and never thought was at all something that could risk my life. Sorry to make another post about it but wow...I'm just in shock right now. I hope Reggie is at peace though...if anything I know he found true happiness after football with family and god. Just a couple weeks ago I was watching the mid-90's Packers in the evolution of Brett Favre's career as they showed it from 1993-2004, and reminiscing that day just makes this so much harder to take. Reggie left in the same year Holmgren did, and while I wasn't too happy he came out of retirement for a failed stint with the Panthers, I never thought any less of him or his accomplishments. The 3 sacks in Super Bowl XXXI particularly stand out to me, and watching him play I learned how to do the club move when I played high school football. This is some tough news. R.I.P. Minister of Defense. Cheeseheads and even those nasty Philadelphia fans will always remember your accomplishments, and Packer fans will always be grateful for you coming to Green Bay and bringing the title back. Reggie White was obviously a great player, and seemed to be a genuinely nice guy too. My Reggie White jersey is still hanging in my closet. Rest in peace. He did say he'd go into the HOF as a Packer and he did get his Super Bowl ring as a Packer and there is plenty of sentiment that it was his coming to Green Bay that was the "final piece of the puzzle" for the championship team I don't recall how contentious his parting from the Eagles was, he wanted to be granted free agency and I think the Eagles were starting to "break up the band" as well Its possible the media is going by where he got his ring and where he said he'd want to be remebered by when he got to the Hall (I'm guessing in those oil painting portraits that adorn the hall as the busts are all "helmet less" busts there in Canton) Steve Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Think about all the talent that left Philly after free agency started: Reggie, Keith Jackson, Eric Allen, Seth Joyner, Clyde Simmons, Keith Byars, and a whole bunch of others. Had Braman actually shown some brains and selected Jeff Fisher instead of Kotite after canning Buddy Ryan, the team would've probably done better than they did in the early to mid 90s. "Green Bay Packer, former Philadelphia Eagle..." sounds about right. And I'd completely forgot about his stint with Carolina, how many games did he actually play for them? It must be completely devastating to his family and those close to him, especially given that it was the day after Christmas. As for the Philadelphia/Green Bay HoF argument, stat-wise, he had the best production as an Eagle, but he won his rings as a Packer. I also don't think I can remember any quotes of Reggie White saying he hated gays, just that he believed homosexuality was a choice, and according to the bible, a sin. It's a belief that many others have, he just happened to have a platform, and he used it. You may disagree with his beliefs, as I do, but he, like you, is entitled to his opinion. And for the few quotes you can come up with that make him look bad(you've never said anything stupid?), I can find a quote from someone praising him as a great man, and stories of him doing great things off the field for those in need, to help people.
