He's 10-6, not 9-7, and beat Bored to take first in the division. Buffalo, New England, Cleveland, Houston, Tenn and Denver are in the AFC playoffs. All but New England has a 10-6 record. I'm going to back-check each of the team's records before going any further, but it looks like Bob will be the fourth seed, and there's a three-way-tie for the first three seeds. It looks like I'll have to go through several layers of tie-breakers, with the deciding factor being strength of victory between CLE, DEN, and TENN... kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2005 Update on AFC playoff picture. First off, here are the final results for the AFC South. Tenn, not Hou, is the Division winner. I had an extra loss for Chuck because I mistook him for Indy one week in which he won and Indy lost. Below is the regular-season record for Tenn and Hou. Because they had split their season series and have the same Division record, the Conference record was the deciding factor, with Chuck winning with a 9-3 record to Bored's 7-5 record. Tenn: Week 1: beat Mia 9-7 (1-0, 0-0 Div., 1-0 Conf.) Week 2: beat Indy 6-4 (2-0, 1-0 Div., 2-0 Conf.) Week 3: lost Jax 7-9 (2-1, 1-1 Div., 2-1 Conf.) Week 4: lost SD 6-7 (2-2, 1-1 Div., 2-2 Conf.) Week 5: lost GB 6-6 + TB (2-3, 1-1 Div., 2-2 Conf.) Week 6: lost Hou 8-8 + TB (2-4, 1-2 Div., 2-3 Conf.) Week 7: lost Minn 5-5 + TB (2-5, 1-2 Div., 2-3 Conf.) Week 8: beat Cin 5-3 (3-5, 1-2 Div., 3-3 Conf.) Week9: BYE Week 10: lost Chi 9-10 (3-6, 1-2 Div., 3-3 Conf.) Week 11: beat Jax 11-7 (4-6, 2-2 Div., 4-3 Conf.) Week 12: beat Hou 11-8 (5-6, 3-2 Div., 5-3 Conf.) Week 13: beat Indy 10-9 (6-6, 4-2 Div., 6-3 Conf.) Week 14: beat KC 9-8 (7-6, 4-2 Div., 7-3 Conf.) Week 15: beat Oak 9-7 (8-6, 4-2 Div., 8-3 Conf.) Week 16: beat Den 7-7 + TB (9-6, 4-2 Div., 9-3 Conf.) Week 17: beat Det 8-4 (10-6, 4-2 Div., 9-3 Conf.) Hou: Week 1: lost SD 7-9 (0-1, 0-0 Div., 0-1 Conf.) Week 2: beat Det 10-8 (1-1, 0-0 Div., 0-1 Conf.) Week 3: beat KC 6-6 + TB (2-1, 0-0 Div., 1-1 Conf.) Week 4: beat Oak 9-8 (3-1, 0-0 Div., 2-1 Conf.) Week 5: lost Min 5-8 (3-2, 0-0 Div., 2-1 Conf.) Week 6: beat Ten 8-8 + TB (4-2, 1-0 Div., 3-1 Conf.) Week 7: BYE Week 8: beat Jax 7-5 (5-2, 2-0 Div., 4-1 Conf.) Week 9: lost Den 6-9 (5-3, 2-0 Div., 4-2 Conf.) Week 10: beat Ind 5-5 + TB (6-3, 3-0 Div., 5-2 Conf.) Week 11: beat GB 9-5 (7-3, 3-0 Div., 5-2 Conf.) Week 12: lost Tenn 8-11 (7-4, 3-1 Div., 5-3 Conf.) Week 13: beat NYJ 13-8 (8-4, 3-1 Div., 6-3 Conf.) Week 14: lost Ind 7-11 (8-5, 3-2 Div., 6-4 Conf.) Week 15: beat Chi 6-4 (9-5, 3-2 Div., 6-4 Conf.) Week 16: beat Jax 11-5 (10-5, 4-2 Div., 7-4 Conf.) Week 17: lost Cle 10-11 (10-6, 4-2 Div., 7-5 Conf) In addition, nl5 got the sixth seed over Bitch due to a better Conference record 7-5 to 6-6. Coming next: the AFC Division seedings. Buffalo, Cleveland, Tenn, and Denver all have 10-6 records. I am now going to use the rules as seen on NFL.com: 1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest-ranked club in each division before proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants. Step 1 does not apply in this case since they are all division winners 2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.) This does not apply because not one team faced off against all the other three. 3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. Here are the following Conference records: Denver 9-3 Tenn 9-3 Cleveland 9-3 Buffalo 8-4 Buffalo is the fourth seed. 4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four. There were not four common games between Denver, Tenn and Cleveland. 5. Strength of victory In other words, take the won-loss records of the opponents each team has beaten. Cleveland's wins: Baltimore (8-8) Washington (4-12) Pittsburgh (8-8) Cincy (8-8) NY Jets (6-10) Cincy (8-8) New England (9-7) San Diego (8-8) Miami (4-12) Houston (10-6) Total Record: (73-87) Denver KC (5-11) San Diego (8-8) Tampa Bay (7-9) Oakland (9-7) Houston (10-6) San Diego (8-8) Miami (4-12) KC (5-11) Tenn (10-6) Indy (8-8) Total Record: (74-86) Tenn Miami (4-12) Indy (8-8) Cincy (8-8) Jack (4-12) Houston (10-6) Indy (8-8) KC (5-11) Oakland (9-7) Denver (8-8) Detroit (9-7) Total Recrod: (73-87) Denver has the top seed, so now it's time to go to the Two-team tie-breaking rules. 1. Head-to-head, if applicable. Nope. 2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. Still tied. 3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four. Here we go. The teams are Cincy, San Diego, Miami, and Houston. Jack played Cincy twice, and Chuck played Houston twice, so whoever has the best record against these four opponents gets the second seed: Cleveland: Beat all four opponents and won all five games. Tenn: Beat Cincy, Miami and Houston once. Lost to San Diego and Houston once. Cleveland has the second seed. The AFC seedings are as follows (until I find something else I did wrong...) 1) Denver 2) Cleveland 3) Tenn 4) Buffalo 5) Houston 6) New England
