SWF Practice Facility, Lake Forrest, Illinois

Wildchild was hunched over, his hands resting on his knees while Johnny Dangerous leaned back into the ropes, breathing heavily, as they watched several assistants carefully carry Les Miles - a local junior heavyweight – out of the ring. Les had volunteered a partner and himself to take on Wild and Dangerous, and like quite a few others in front of him, met his fate at the hands of the SWF’s tag team specialists. Somehow I got the feeling as I watched all of this unfold from the safety of ringside that he wouldn’t be the last either - Wild and Dangerous didn’t look like they were ever going to slow down!

By now I’m sure everyone is aware of what went down at SWF Slay Ride – our Christmas pay per view: Landon Maddix finally defeated Toxxic for the SWF World Heavyweight Championship, Sean Davis won the SWF United States Junior League Championship, Todd Cortez came out with the SWF Hardcore Gamers Championship, and our “men in black” – Wild and Dangerous – well… they won a chance to face Revolution Zero for the Tag Team Championship. By the looks of things, they’re not about to let that chance slip away from them either; they caught the first flight out of Minnesota and came straight here to begin training. No celebrations, no partaking in the holiday festivities – it was time to start worrying about their next match, and more importantly - Revolution Zero.

Everyday, even Christmas, started at 6 A.M. with a morning jog around Lake Forrest with the cold winds biting at their faces. A rigorous two-hour weight training session followed that, and then they finally sat down for breakfast. Afterwards they would go their separate ways until lunch; Johnny focusing on his martial arts training while Wildchild stretched his body into positions that would make a pretzel hurt, before focusing on his gymnastic routines. It’s kind of funny when you think about it, watching these two and their distinct contrast of styles, they’re as different as night and day, and yet they gelled so well in the ring when they put these two styles together.

After a light lunch, they would study tape of Toxxic and Sean Davis, both singles and tag team matches. They never had audio running on the tape, but it wouldn’t have mattered, because they’d spend the entire time discussing what they were seeing with each other. Being in the same room with them while they were studying tape of their opponents kind of gave watching the action an “MST3K” feel to it. Every so often, one or the other of them would interrupt the idle chatter to point out either a flaw in their opponents’ style, which they felt they could exploit, or to call attention to one of their opponents’ particular strengths, and what they’d have to do to avoid it.

After studying tape, it was into the ring, where they’d put some of the local enhancement talent through the wringer for hours on end; they’d wrestle from the time they came out of that conference room until security would throw them out at eleven each night. During these marathon training sessions, they’d spend hours perfecting their timing on double-teams and blind tags. They even went out of their way to find enhancement talent that were close enough to Toxxic and Sean Davis’ respective body weights for them to ensure that their timing would be precise.

Watching all of this training first hand, it was clear to me that these two weren’t taking their next opponents lightly. You would think that, as the longest-tenured tag team in the SWF today, as a team that held the World Tag Team Titles on two separate occasions, and as a team that has only lost two one-on-one tag matches in the two-plus years they’ve been teaming together, that they might be a little overconfident heading into this match… but, it’s just the opposite. They recognize the fact that Revolution Zero has dominated the SWF since the group’s inception, not to mention Toxxic becoming the longest running and most stable Heavyweight Champion of 2004! Far from taking their opponents lightly, as far as Wild and Dangerous are concerned, Toxxic and Sean Davis might as well be Justice and Rule, Hollywood Boulevard and the Unholy Trinity all rolled into one! The challengers may be hungrier than they’ve ever been; they’re totally locked in on the task of dethroning the champions!

What were Johnny Dangerous and Wildchild saying in regards to this upcoming match? Well, leave it to me to ask all the tough questions that nobody else will. It’s what I live for, and it’s the reason I took on this assignment.

“Is this going to be revenge against Toxxic?” I asked quite boldly of the Barracuda, who looked back at me stone-faced. It almost appeared if Johnny had harbored some resentment towards the Straight-Edged Sensation. I couldn’t say I blame him, Toxxic did defeat the Barracuda in the main event of the largest stage of them all – Genesis V – for the World Heavyweight Championship, and we have yet to see these two step foot in a ring against each other since then. Could this be the opportunity for Johnny, on a personal level, to even the score against the Rookie that left the entire federation standing on its head in 2004?

“This isn’t about me,” Johnny calmly replied. “The Tag Team titles are all about Wild and Dangerous, and it’s what we, as a team, strive towards in everything we do. We don’t have time for any personal vendettas; it’s all about the team!”

“Right now, Toxxic and (Sean) Davis are the Tag Team Champions,” Wildchild added, his thick Creole accent ever present. “Those belts mean that they’re the best tag team in the world; that’s what we want. We’re training harder than we’ve ever trained before because, as far as we’re concerned, this is going to be the toughest match we’ve ever had. We can’t very well be the best when Revolution Zero is walking around with those belts, and that’s why we’re spending so much time getting ready – we don’t want to take any chances; we want to make sure that we leave with those titles, and not them!”

“Wildchild, a lot of fans haven’t been able to help but notice that you’ve become a little more reckless since your return to the SWF; would you care to comment on what the impetus behind this change has been?”

Wildchild turned towards me, but just as he opened his mouth to answer, Johnny chimed in. “It’s not just Wildchild,” he said. “We’ve both decided to be more aggressive since coming back to the SWF because we know that it’s going to take an extra-aggressive attitude to regain the Tag Team Titles… I guess you could say that we decided that it was time for Wild and Dangerous to actually live up to our name!” With that, they turned their attention back to their training, and sent some poor schmuck flying through the air, and into a Silver Bullet!

The Barracuda and the Bahama Bomber, Wild and Dangerous – the pair that truly live up to their name – are ready to make their comeback complete, poised to take the Tag Team Championship for a record-breaking third time. Will they do it? I don’t know; anything could happen in the world of professional wrestling, but one thing’s for sure – I want front row tickets to this baby; it’s sure to be a doozy!

Have a happy New Year fans, and get ready - 2005 is shaping up to be the best year in the SWF yet!

- Ben Hardy

You're not the only ones in training. I've had Sean Davis bashing shit out of third-graders since Christmas.

Nice promo Johnny. But why did Ben Hardy edit Wildchild's accent? ;)

Ohhh, hype promo and such.

Let's see if you can write a match that makes it look like this stuff actually happend.

I assure you, Dace, we can and will... C'mon, man; where's the love for your ex-stable mates? You've totally "big-timed" us since you got bumped... :(

And Toxxic, :P on you; do you write with an accent? ;)

Dace, it doesn't matter what they write, because we're going to win ;) (not that I'm setting myself up for a fall, or anything).

And WC, Toxxic doesn't have an accent as such, just speech mannerisms. Calls people 'sunshine' if he's pissed off, uses curse words like 'bollocks' and 'bloody hell', and double negatives. Speaking of which I was going to ask you if we could do a quick backstage interaction where Toxxic bumps into WC while he's being interviewed by Ben Hardy. I'll knock something up and send it to you, see what you think.

I was talking about myself.

It's not a matter of love anyway. Just saying, I wonder if you can pull of a match that makes it looks like all the things there happend. Either you'll please people, or you'll get feed back.

For the same reason He'll have to edit the new accent Toxxic's going to have after W&D get through with him! ;)

Guys, if I wrote Toxx as a real, honest-to-God Midlandser, you wouldn't have a fucking CLUE as to what he was saying. But neither would I, which is why i stick to writing him how I speak.

Well, how I speak when I'm pissed off anyway.
