Raw 1.3.05 Speculation, Reactions and Complaints

Recommended Posts

I think Vince was just trying to fool people in the beginning to think this Hassan storyline would be anything more then the classic racist-simplistic America vs. Anti-America angle. Hassan is supposedly Arab American, yet just stands there while the fans chant "USA USA USA" why does he not address that with a rebuttal of "Hey idiots, I am american" Then JR with the classic redneck response of "love it or leave it" The only redeemable quality of this entire piece of garbage angle is the fact that Ross and Lawler get beat up.

Oh and I hope this angle doesn't get Hassan assaulted on the street. You'd like to think most people are smart enough to draw the line between acting and reality, but if one of these Hassan live appearances takes place I dunno in West Virginia, or South Carolina, hopefully there is ample security to get him around.

RAW really needs a change in presentation. The red ropes and "in your face" style polygon set need to leave a.s.a.p. It's take the focus off the, you know, wrestlers.

The debate was pretty bad, but Hassan is getting over, and he should be feuding with Shelton for the IC strap instead of the super-bland Maven, who has no interesting or unique qualities whatsoever.

I thought Kane coming back was cool, but why did they spend the entire spring, summer, and fall of 2004 doing one of the worst angles of all time and mainly standing home the fact that Kane and Lita can't stand each other...and now Lita is HAPPY about Kane?

WHAAAT?

Ain't it weird seeing Nash and Goldberg on WWE TV again? I've really liked the buildup for this year's Elimination Chamber by showing the buildup from the first two.

And what's with Coach playing face tonight on the commentary?

am I the only noticing that Victoria is slowly turning into Ivory ?

edit : also looks like she gained weight

I was actually thinking she looks like she's lost weight. She looks good, so does Lita tonight which scares me :)

I thought Orton/HHH really picked up at the end...I thought their false finish tribute to HBK/HHH from Summerslam 2002 (@ the Nassau Coliseum) was pretty cool.

Elimination Chamber is easily the only reason why I want to see the PPV this Sunday, but it was an OK Raw...as usual, nothing that we'll remember in about a week.

Wrestling wise, one of the best of RAW's in months.

Amen!

I agree it was great. I was sure they were going to do a six man tag main event but they went the right direction with the three seperate matches. The Regal segment was hilarious and the debate was the only thing that sucked.

Why bother having a OAOsite if idiots cant go to the link?

however;

I caught the first 25 minutes and missed the rest during an important phone convo, i saw some stuff and caught the tail end of the show. So i gotta read the OAO to figure out what happened. OAO sucks after the shows over. nothing(if it ever was) is funny and annoying. and damn near impossible to figure out what the fuck happened.

basically the only reason for the PPV is the elimination chamber, and even the interest in that has waned once I found out HBK was the special ref.

I enjoyed the Jericho/Edge match quite a bit. But what I don't get is why Jericho and Edge had a competitive match with Edge getting a cheap, cheap win while Benoit gets pinned clean. Why not Jericho get pinned clean? It's not like anyone thinks Jericho is a contender in the EC. Benoit is a pretty strong contender. Why make one of the strong contenders look weak while the one guy who is predicted by just about everybody to get eliminated first is sorta protected? That had me a bit confused.

That being said, all three of the EC related matches were fun to watch. The clusterfuck at the end made sense too, since there was rhyme and reason for who attacked who.

Quick comment: How weak did Lita's punches and brawling look compared to what Victoria and Trish were doing in their match? And who does a monkey flip during a beatdown?

Benoit's head being banged repeatedly on the exposed turnbuckle != clean

Why the hell wasnt Batista making Jericho look like a jobber instead of Benoit.

We all knew Edge was winninig and cheating, so if he cheats and beats Benoit...Benoit loses nothing. And Jericho has ZERO chance to win and is being treated as such...so feed him to the talentless hoss who can't take a German Suplex properly yet. Now, Benot looks like a bitch because somebody who is big and stuff can just sit up from is finisher. AND Jericho has no shot. Not to mention that Batista is #6, which means he wont win, BUT THEY STILL NEED HIM TO LOOK BIG, so he destroys the credablitly of the guy who made the damn title held up in the first place!

Very stupid.

Why was it that Coach castrated himself and became a face commentator when he was in there alone? Saying of Eugene "Well, I know we aren't friends, but you have to give him credit." and things like that.

And I think we either have a late entry for 2004's or an early entry for 2005's WrestleCrap awards with Hassan. Just have Lawler beat him at the PPV and repackage him as something else, I beg of you.

OKay, okay, I see your point. But was that ever mentioned after the match? Because all I heard JR and King talking about was how impressive Batista's strength was and how they were shocked that someone countered the crossface. On the flipside, Edge's win was seen as cheap, and rightfully so.

I absolutely hated the booking of Raw tonight.

Sure, it looks like Triple H will face Batista and not Orton at Wrestlemania, and sure, you need to make Batista look good. But having Batista go over Chris Benoit totally CLEAN in the first match of the night is so ridiculous. That's the type of match you save for a Raw main event leading to Mania or the Rumble, or even better, a PPV. Perhaps the strong push they gave to Benoit throughout 2004 was simply an illusion, because the booking tonight showed they don't 'get' Benoit's worth.

Also, why would they just give away Orton vs HHH with no buildup, no hype, and no semblance of the matchup being even somewhat special? It boggles the mind how they can go from having the plans be Orton vs HHH for the main event of Wrestlemania and then two weeks later, they just give the match away like it was nothing. I mean I do think that would have been terrible for Mania, but come on. However, I must say, Orton is pretty heatless right now.

The writers are doing a good job with the Batista/HHH skits though.

Hey, at least Edge WON the match.

And I think giving away HHH/Orton tonight most likely means that they aren't going at it at Mania, and are replacing Orton with Batista.

No, no. Thats HHH.

Orton is out popping Benoit and Jericho consistantly.

Wow, that crowd looked like fucking morons during the Hassan segment. Opening match was solid, main event felt strange. I'll elaborate on the main page, I guess.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I was just pointing out that Jericho was unnessesarly protected while Benoit wasn't. I expected Edge to get a cheap win over who ever he faced (well, Benoit or Jericho at least). I didn't expect Batista to win relatively clean over Benoit, who could have been portrayed as a big threat in the EC.

Dont forget no-selling his finisher and destroying its cred.

But having Batista go over Chris Benoit totally CLEAN in the first match of the night is so ridiculous.

If Batista is going to Wrestlemania against HHH, then they had to pull the trigger on him now.

Going over someone HHH couldn't beat in 2004 sends a message to the fans that Batista is a better wrestler than HHH, thus making the upcoming match-up compelling.

Besides, Benoit's getting beat "clean" in a great match doesn't make him seem less important. Losing to man in the midst of an amazing match like that one gets both wrestlers over.

The match wasnt graet or amazing. It was a 7 minute opener on RAW during a hype show for a crappy PPV.

It makes Benoit look like shit and when Batista does NOTHING on Sunday, his win will be forgotten. But Benoit looking like a jobber wont.
