The Amazing Rando Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 Lagoona! - The Journey Lagoona! - The Promised Land Oy...i have tons of burned techno but no idea about track names. The Rave Method Cynic Project Trance Factory Hardfloor 303infinity and alot of people would probably suggest DJ Encore
nl5xsk1 Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 Kompressor (http://www.kompressormusic.com/) The guy's gotta rock ... Tower Records quivers at his mere presence. All kidding aside, like Rando said, I have a ton that I've burned or been given, but don't know many track names. And, I think it depends if you like drum-n-bass or ambient or any other certain genre of techno. EDIT: Damnit, I fucked up the image ... it just comes up as page cannot be displayed.
Nighthawk Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Nah, don't listen to Aphex Twin. That's not what you want. Except his song "Didgeridoo". That probably is.
Gary Floyd Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Suggestions? Too many to mention, so what the hell Aphex Twin Orbital Meat Beat Manifesto The Orb Autechre Kid 606 Cex Ulrich Schnauss Goldfrapp Luke Vibert Atom Heart Boards of Canada Plastikman Pole Mouse in Mars Oval Underworld Air Four Tet Squarepusher Telefon Tel Aviv Plaid Tetsu Inoue U-Ziq Two Lone Swordsmen Future Sound of London Pan Sonic I Am Robot & Proud Coil (some of their stuff is very techno) To Rocco Rot Jega Fluke Bogdan Raczynski Nobukazu Takemura LTJ Bukem Global Communications Cabaret Voltaire (Their 90's material was techno) Roni Size Adam F and well, thats it, I guess.
Nighthawk Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Disregard that list as much of it is not at all what you're looking for. This dude just wants club trance, guys, jeez. He's not trying to expand his mind.
Guest Failed Mascot Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Polish techno is hilarious
Lil' Bitch Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 "Sandstorm" by Darude anything from Paul Oakenfold uh....pick up any techno compilation CDs, can never go wrong there.
Special K Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Hmmm, I usually don't listen to much stuff like that. Scooter? Takkyu Ishino definitely fits the bill. Orbital's Halcon+on+on is long and danceable and almost always a hit, it has nonsense lyrics though. I'm assuming above that you want hard-driving thumpa-thumpa techno to dance to, not extra-spacy techno. If you want extra-chill techno with long songs, some of Future Sounds of London Will fit.
Nighthawk Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 You'll like most of the big names in the house music scene. I would guess these will be the kind of artists you're after: Paul Oakenfold DJ Tiesto John Digweed Sasha Paul Van Dyk ATB Guys like that are very consistant and produce a lot of material. That's tons of stuff to work through. I also feel like I should mention Ken Ishii, who really is the best at this stuff, although more challenging and experimental. If you start listening to this stuff and get into it, be sure to give him a listen.
Guest Vitamin X Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 If you can find Cookie Dough Dynamo, download it. ASAP.
Epic Reine Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 "Never Gonna Come Back Down" by BT is one of the techno songs I actually like.
Art Sandusky Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Disregard that list as much of it is not at all what you're looking for. This dude just wants club trance, guys, jeez. He's not trying to expand his mind. Ah. Gotcha. I think my mind's already expanded enough as it is... I did download some DJ Encore...it's ok. On one of the radio stations (WCYY...94.3 FM) I listen to, it has a techno hour on Sunday nights and when I'm driving around it's cool to listen to...it's not like crazy ass shit like Sandstorm, but yeah. Thanks for the suggestions...keep em coming if you can. IM me. I can help you with this, big time.
The Czech Republic Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 any songs you suggest (other than Sandstorm, lol)? "Sandstorm" by Darude
Special K Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Just listened to Sandstorm. Oh it's THAT song. These artists may be 50/50 with the kind of stuff you want to here, but what's there is good. Crystal Method (I highly reccomend their remix of Keoki's 'Caterpillar') Juno Reactor (Hm, looks like Beyond the Infinite is out of print.) Download 'Guardian Angel' and 'Mars' to see if you like them. Daft Punk (don't personally like them, but you may) And play the game Frequency! EDIT: I feel ya. | | \/
Edwin MacPhisto Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Juno Reactor out of print makes me feel old. Listened to a lot of that in 10th grade. I still have Beyond the Infinite, though I haven't really listened to anything "electronic" that isn't Underworld or Aphex in ages.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 IDRM must get so frustrated in these threads. If people wish to list recommendations, then list the shit you think the person will like, don't just run off a list out of your winamp playlist of all the shit you know.
Special K Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 That's what I've been trying to do. EDIT: I'm sorry sir! *weep weep weep* | | \/
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Don't get defensive with me, smart guy. When I call you by name, then you may address me in that manner.
Gary Floyd Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 Well, for more "Dance Orinated" Techno, these don't hurt Prodigy-Music For a Jilted Generation Meat Beat Manifesto-99%,Actual Sounds and Voices Underworld-DubNoBassWithMyHeadMan,Second Toughest to the Infants KLF-White Room Goldfrapp-Black Cherry Chemical Brothers-Come With Us
