Worst WWF/E card of all time?

Recommended Posts

Guest Frank_Nabbit

Here's my early canidate:

WWF @ Clarksburg, WV - Nathan Goff Armory - January 3, 1988

Johnny V defeated David Sammartino

Dan Spivey defeated Scott Casey

Outback Jack defeated Barry Horowitz

The Ultimate Warrior defeated Steve Lombardi

The Junkyard Dog defeated Hercules

B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell defeated Nikolai Volkoff & Boris Zhukov when Brunzell pinned Zhukov with a small package after a mask switch

Filled with guys who were on the verge of being cut, plus jobbers and has beens. The only guy on the card who had any value at the time was Hercules. Warrior was not anyone of note at this point.

WWF @ Moline, IL - January 12, 1990

Earthquake defeated Paul Roma

Tugboat defeated Frenchy Martin

Hercules defeated Tom Stone

The Bushwhackers defeated Nikolai Volkoff & Boris Zhukov

Rick Martel defeated Brutus Beefcake

WWF IC Champion the Ultimate Warrior defeated Dino Bravo

Not as bad as the one above, but with the deep roster they had this is awful and the only potential ok match is Martel/Beefcake.

As a ppv this is pretty brutal- UK No Mercy 99- from May 99

Gillberg vs Tiger Ali Singh

Tori vs Nicole Bass

Droz vs Steve Blackman

The Brood vs Acolytes/Viscera

Kane vs Mideon

Mankind vs Billy Gunn

Shane McMahon vs X Pac

Austin vs HHH vs Taker

Every single match was belwo par and the Foley match is the worst Foley match I've ever seen...

There's also this UK PPV gem from December 1998, called Capital Carnage

Gangrel vs Al Snow

Animal and Droz vs Headbangers

Edge vs Tiger Ali Singh

Sable/Christian vs Mero/Jacqueline

Shamrock vs Blackman

HHH vs Jarrett

NAO vs D-Lo/Henry

Rock vs X-Pac

Taker vs Foley vs Kane vs Austin

Another card full of half arsed performances....

Waylon Mercy defeated Bob Holly

Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Psycho Sid

Jean Pierre Laffiette defeated Aldo Montoya

Wow, there is NOTHING good on that card.

WWF @ Memphis, TN - Pyramid - March 5, 1993

Crush defeated Papa Shango via submission with the head vice

Virgil defeated Terry Taylor

Kamala defeated Kimchee

Jerry Lawler defeated Jeff Gaylord

Typhoon defeated Skinner

Rick & Scott Steiner defeated the Beverly Brothers

WWF @ New York City, NY - Madison Square Garden - April 30, 1990

Televised on the MSG Network:

Hercules defeated Haku

Paul Diamond pinned Jim Powers by reversing a powerslam into a small package

Jake Roberts pinned Bad News Brown

Prime Time Wrestling - 5/29/90: Nikolai Volkoff pinned Jose Luis Rivera

The Barbarian pinned Jimmy Snuka

The Big Bossman defeated Ted Dibiase

Prime Time Wrestling - 5/29/90: Dino Bravo pinned the Red Rooster

WWF World Champion the Ultimate Warrior defeated Mr. Perfect

Greg Valentine & the Honkytonk Man (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated the Bushwhackers via count-out (1st Annual Battle of the WWF Superstars)

Hulk Hogan defeated Earthquake (w/ Jimmy Hart) via disqualification at 8:39 when Jimmy Hart broke the pinfall after Hogan's legdrop; after the bout, Hogan fought off Earthquake before dropping him with a bodyslam (Hulkamania Forever)

The only match I would bother with is MAYBE Roberts/Brown, but you have to remember it was around this time when his in ring performances were starting to get... not as good lets just say.

Capitol Carnage wasn't completely worthless, it at least had Jacqueline's mighty onyx mountains on display for all to see. But all the rest of the cards listed here... yep, Vince is a genius!

Hey, it's not often that Bob Bradley, the Brooklyn Brawler, Saba Simba, and the Orient Express all get wins in the same week, let alone on the same card.

I won't even comment since I have no idea who at least half of the people on those shows are, although Santana/Zybysko vs. Samoans and Hogan vs. Santana looks very tempting.

Eh, I dunno. Tracy Smothers vs. Dirty White Boy, Ron Simmons vs. Hardcore Holly, and Jerry Lawler vs. Barry Windham all sound like they might at least be watchable, plus the two main events are just fine, so I don't think this card is nearly as bad as some of the others listed here.

I was at this show....

WWF @ Vancouver, British Columbia - PNE Coliseum - January 18, 1988

Tom Magee defeated Iron Mike Sharpe

Davey Boy Smith & the Dynamite Kid defeated ?

Jake Roberts defeated Moose Morowski

Brutus Beefcake defeated Greg Valentine

WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan defeated Rick Rude

Considering that only two matches went as advertised, I'd say it sucked pretty bad. And the Bulldogs match was a singles with Davey Boy vs. Haku, which was good, but Bulldogs vs. Islanders (advertised) would have been better.

But, hey...I got to see the MEGA MAN~! live!

I've seen too much of 1996 from all of these guys, and I think I know what a bad undercard is. God, I hate 1996... so... much. That show is all double Main Event. The rest can be forgotten. (Cries... damn you 1996!)

I'm not even sure if that double "main event" could save the show.

From what fan cams I've seen / show reports I've read, Taker vs. Mankind was mindless brawling for 2-10 minutes with Taker eventually hitting the chokeslam / tombstone then rolling Mankind in the casket for the win.

HBK / Vader sometimes lasted less than 5 minutes. At the TV tapings, it would often be under 30 seconds with HBK getting the superkick for the pin.

Good point (about UT/Mankind and Vader/HBK). I thought it was a typo when I read a HBK vs. Vader match lasted 30 seconds. Wow, who thought of that idea?

Barry Windham is completely useless & unwatchable from failed run as "The Stalker" (WWE '96) to Blackjack Windham (WWE 97) to NWA Invasion member Windham (WWE 98) to Bischoff/Hennig friend Windham (WCW 99) to Rap is Crap Windham (WCW 99).

Windham Vs. Lawler?

I think Haasan Vs. Lawler was probably better.

^--- someone has their head screwed on just right. Windham, In my opinion, hasn't had a good match in over a decade. And when he's wrestling JERRY LAWLER, expect something like -*** ratings.
