Slayer 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2005 I've tried MMORPG's before (notably EQ and FFXI) and never really liked them, but when I went down to Georgia my friend showed me WoW and I got hooked. Anyone else playing?
GeneMean 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2005 Can't find a damn copy anywhere. =( So I settled for EQ2 and promptly wished that I hadn't. (30 day trial and out) Answer this for me. How much of a time sink is it compared to the others that you've played?
Slayer 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2005 Can't find a damn copy anywhere. I know this one's been a big issue. While I was in Georgia, my friend and I tried to find a copy for me to no avail, but after coming home I found a copy at BB and promptly picked it up. How much of a time sink is it compared to the others that you've played? It's certainly addictive, but easy to walk away from when you have to (although I have high willpower). What is great about the game is that Blizzard learned from the problems of past MMORPGs and fixed them, namely concentrating more on questing rather than grinding. GeneMean 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2005 Cool, I'd much rather quest than kill the same rats over and over for a couple hours only to see my progress bar go up 1% anyday. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a copy, until then it's all about Sid Meier's Pirates! ARRR!
Guest SpiderFan Report post Posted January 15, 2005 I've found grinding for XP is much more efficient then questing post level 35. I definetly think this is the best MMO on the market right now. It's quite fun, and you can actually accomplish something in a short amount of time, instead of taking a whole week of constant playing to feel like you advanced by a tiny bit. And professions are actually fun. I never thought I'd be doing tradeskilling in an MMO, but it's actually not much of a hassle at all. So I settled for EQ2 and promptly wished that I hadn't. I tried EQ2 as well. The game was so bland, I couldn't get into it at all.
GeneMean 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2005 Rar! Finally snagged a copy and I must say that this is a kick ass MMO.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2005 Can't find a damn copy anywhere. Reason why you can't find a copy anywhere is the publisher isn't shipping out anymore copies until they find someway to adjust the servers to handle the population problems they are having. And since they said they would never ask playes to relocate or move them manually, well, they are kinda fucked for a solution. Until then, you won't be able to get a copy unless some store has them still for sale.

dubq 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2005 Isn't this game like 12 bucks a month to play or something? No thanks, for now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, which doesn't work out to much if you subscribe in three month periods. At least, not for me. LaParka.. I'm currently at Lvl18, Undead Warlock, on Hyjal. Slayer 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 I quit my first run (which started when I posted this thread) after two months to concentrate on my final semester of undergrad, then attempted to get back into it after graduation, only to quit after a week due to lack of interest. muzz 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 I, too, am addicted, but I've easily been able to walk away. After reaching 60 with a Druid on Blackrock, I stopped playing for months, apart from an hour or two every week. Now I've started playing again with a 46 Warrior on Silvermoon. It's my first MMORPG so I can't really compare it, but I will say that it's a great game, bar the server problems that plague people from time to time. Guest Skironox Report post Posted October 27, 2005 I think the design of the game is great. The only other online game I've played was Everquest Online Adventures for PS2. This is better, it get's everything right. Questing, item creation, professions, I love all of it. 21 PAL on Azjol-Nerub, probably more characters to come. Guest Coffey Report post Posted December 16, 2005 I played for a month total. I would've played longer except I always had to play by myself. It's a good game but I started playing because a friend of mine wanted me to play the game with him so he "wouldn't be bored." It turns out, he was never logged on so I was just running around doing quests solo. It's kinda like Diablo 2 in that the beginning of the game is just "power-leveling" and then the game just becomes a "treasure hunt." The only difference is that you see people talking about "power hour" & "loot" instead of "Baal runs" & "uniques." That and Diablo 2 doesn't cost $15/month. I'd consider playing it again but only if a couple of friends were playing as well.
GeneMean 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2005 I started playing again also. This time I conned my girlfriend into playing it with me. She's completely addicted so now I'll always have a hunting parter. 40 Rog 25 Hun 15 Pal
