Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted January 15, 2005 Yours truly attended the Raw house show last night at the Target Center in Minneapolis. The lower level was about 3/4 full and the upper level was completely empty. Merchandise was selling pretty fast. La Resistance interrupted the singing of the national anthem, and Hurricane and Rosey interrupted La Resistance before they could sing the Canadian national anthem. Hurricane and Rosey picked up the win after their F5/neckbreaker double team. Christian pinned William Regal in a qualifying match for the Royal Rumble. Shelton Benjamin pinned Maven, picking up the win in his home town. Lots of stalling by Maven. Muhammad Hassan won with a roll up while Chris Jericho was trying to put Daivari in the walls of Jericho. Victoria pinned Molly after a missed Molly-Go-Round and a Widows Peak. Coach came out and got some cheap heat, and then brought out Christy Hemme. Coach insulted Christy, and said he knew someone who could help her. Simon Dean came out and gave Christy some of his weight loss powder, but she threw it in his face and gave Coach a low-blow. Edge pinned Benoit after interference. Benoit laughed at Coach who was still making his way to the back, and when Edge came out, he attended to the Coach. Benoit was in control most of the match, but lost due to interference by Coach who chased Christy all the way into the ring. Kane pinned Snitsky after a chokeslam in a hardcore match. I thought hardcore matches were banned from Raw? Lots of trash cans and even a locale-friendly hockey stick was used. Randy Orton pinned Batista after an RKO. Batista was over HUGE as a face and I got the feeling that these two are going to be BIG stars. Shawn Michaels pinned Ric Flair clean after a super kick. Before the match Ric got on the mic and talked trash about Randy Moss, and then told HBK, "I don't give a shit who you are, I'm going to own you, you little bitch." Flair is God. HBK went for a sunset flip and pulled Flair’s shorts down, Flair ran around for awhile and went to the top rope bare-ass, the longest moon I had ever seen in pro wrestling. After the match Edge attacked HBK, but Benoit made the save and Edge ate a super kick. It was a fun show and everyone got their money's worth.

How was the Benot vs Edge match before the riduculous interfence ending? Any cool stuff in it? Thanks for the report by the way.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2005 Muhammad Hassan won with a roll up while Chris Jericho was trying to put Daivari in the walls of Jericho. That'd be just great if this was a feud. Because nothing says proud American like growing up in Canada! I'm glad you had a good time. Best match? Worst match?

Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted January 15, 2005 Chris Jericho is jobbing to Muhammad Hassan!?!? I retract my statement. Smackdown is better than RAW just for that.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted January 15, 2005 Whats with the recent bare ass stuff off cameras? Didn't flair and HHH and Batistia work a off camera match on raw last week bare assed?
Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted January 15, 2005 I didn't really get into the Benoit/Edge match, and if I did it was just because it was the first time I saw Benoit live. Lots and lots of chops in that match. Some fans started a USA chant during the Jericho/Hassan match, which really confused me. The HBK/Flair match was by far the best, but from a technical standpoint the Regal/Christian match was the best. The Victoria/Molly match kind of killed the crowd, which is odd since Molly's a hometown wrestler.

Guest DeathBecomesYou Report post Posted January 15, 2005 The Victoria/Molly match kind of killed the crowd, which is odd since Molly's a hometown wrestler. I heard the match was pretty good but the live crowd didn't give them a chance. Also, I heard Molly did a stretcher job for Victoria, is this true?
Hoff 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2005 The match was decent. Nothing special. The problem was Molly playing a heel in Minnesota. No one was sure what to think; it isn't as though Molly's an especially dastardly heel, so the crowd was kinda mixed. Victoria, to my chagrin, was also NOT over. So the result was a dead crowd. It was a good match, worth seeing, but nothing special. And no, no stretcher job. Batista -- let's talk about him for a bit. My friend's a big DAVE mark and I'm an Orton guy, and so we were going back and forth, starting "Orton" and "Batista" chants. Well after Batista's clothesline, he starts up, and damned if the whole Target Center wasn't right there with him. I was blown away. That man was OVER last night. Good match, too. The crowd eventually got behind Orton for the finish, which was cool. Good matches all around, not a stinker in the show, although Simon Dean's segment was awful. The best matches, in my view, were Jericho/Hassan (seriously), Batista/Orton, Flair/Michaels, and Christian/Regal, the highlight of the night for me, with some awesome chain wrestling. All the guys seemed in high spirits, and did a lot of comedy (Orton and Batista were ON as far as that goes). Best house show I've ever been to...maybe even the best live event, period. Chazz 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2005 They had a Royal Rumble Qualifier at a House Show? How much you want to bet they don't even acknowledge It come Monday?
Guest FromBeyondTheGrave Report post Posted January 16, 2005 Smackdown also had qualifing matches on house shows, this week. Rene Dupree .VS. Paul London. Luther Reigns & Mark Jindrak .VS. Nunzio & Scotty 2 Hotty. Of course, they might just completely ignore the results.
brokentusk16 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2005 Doesn't sound like that great of a show besides the HBK/Flair and Edge/Benoit matches. No Triple H, huh? Sounds like the house show I went to in Duluth a few years back that Austin ducked out on, despite being advertised for it.

franchise632 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2005 I heard that they announced Smackdown brand PPV for may was going to be at Target Center, did they give a date or any on sale ticket information? I think I heard it was on May 1st or something
Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted January 16, 2005 Judgement Day is May 22 at the Target Center, I think they said the tickets go on sale sometime in March.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted January 16, 2005 These "Rumble Qualifiers" will be ignored as results. The winners will be in of course, and most likely almost everyone who loses on House Shows too. WWE's roster is too thin a.k.a "too many jobbers and cruiserweights" to fill 30 spots with actual uppermidcard/main eventers, so... eh.
