Mole 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2005 Well it is Elektra. But I don't want to see this, it looks horrible and is a DVD rental if anything.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2005 It didn't suck, but it wasn't great. It was okay, not worth $8 though.

Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2005 I liked the movie, but it hugely suffered from lack of explainations / unanswred questions, loopholes in the storyline which would especially affect people who aren't comic book fans: 1.) What was the Order of the Hand? 2.) Why are they evil? 3.) Why did they want Abby so bad? 4.) Why was she called "The Treasure"? 5.) Why did the Hand kill Elektra's mother? 6.) Why was Elektra being haunted throughout the film constantly through flashbacks by her father making her tread in a swimming pool? 7.) What did happen to her father? 8.) What made Elektra become an assassin? 9.) How did she wind up at her sensei's place? 10.) Why were they training her? 11.) Why is it when Hand members died, they turned into green smoke? The movie also didn't explain how It went from Elektra being killed by Bullseye to being in an ambulance to all of sudden cut to where she winded up bringing brought back to life [how which was also unexplained] by her sensei. Although Bob Sapp and the guy who played Shang Tsung being the movie gives this movie some cool points. And of course, we have to wait for the Director's Cut on DVD for the answers and that's if they are given. There's not one single mention of DareDevil in the movie either. : \
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2005 Got this off IMDB.com: As an avid fan of the Elektra series since I was little. The movie suffers from the same problems that The Punisher had because it failed to follow six formulas of the comic continuity. 1. Character Development: Elektra's character in Daredevil the movie was not a good representation of how she became the woman she is in the book. Her character should have died before the Daredevil movie or probably have her character in a brief flashback sequence of him holdinh her in an alley. Instead they bring her on a rich girl who can kick ass and dies by Bullseye in order to connect the characters which is what many movie adaptations of books do. 2. Character Motive: For those who read the series you all know that Elektra was cast out from the Chaste because of her rage and anger. She then decided to prove herself to Stick by joining their enemy the Hand and destroy them from the inside. But instead she was corrupted by them and became their top assassin. The movie ignores this major factor of her story and fail to explain why she kills in the first place. Her character is supposed to be trying to rid the corruption of the Hand from her soul which could have made the movie more better. 3. The Hand: The Hand in the book never had any supernatural powers like manifesting tattoos and poisoning the enviroment or have skin of iron. They are simply ninja assassins who fight using their skills. And also mentioned above they Hand should have been used alot better in the story. If the director is not going to completely follow the comic at least have Elektra and Kirigi have a better connection than him killing her mother (which DID NOT happen in the book at all). They sacraficed a key element in the book for unknown reasons. 4. Action and Abilities: This should have been a martial arts movie considering the fact that they had three people who either have martial experience and they are Jennifer Garner, Will Yun Lee, and Cary Tagawa (Who barely had role at all). The fighting doesn't have to be like Kiss of the Dragon or Drunken Master but more down to earth than having CGI sheets and corny powers flying around the screen. But like The Blade series, they sacrafice using the actors physical talent for cheap effects. And the Kimogiri technique had to have the corniest power to give a character like her who is known for physical abilities alone. 5. Violence: This should have been the bread winner of the entire movie along with the action. Ever since her brief appearance in Daredevil there has been bloodshed and death whenever she fought and compared to the books of today; Elektra is known for her brutal and visceral battle scenes that leave a huge body count. The rating should have been R with more intense battle scenes. The beginning of the movie should have should not only shown how violent she is but how skillfuo she is as well. Her fights with the ninja were non existent in the movie leading to a more toned down thirteen year olds than adults. 6. Elektra: Elektra does not cry, smile, play games, hug, kiss,or speak more than a few sentences unless they have an impact on her story. The book version is probably the iciest female warrior in comic history. Her face should convey how conflicted she is with what she does and how the corruption inside her is still present. Having her kiss the father? WTF! She never gets intimate except with Matt and that's it. It amazes me how they were capable to turn such a hardcore character into what we saw on film. Positively Kanyon 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2005 I agree with you Deon, they completely missed the boat with Elektra. Another comic book adaption that "could have been..." Did anyone catch the Daredevil cameo? It wasn't really a cameo, more of a nod to DD... There was a shot of a graffitti wall with a anime style Daredevil image, in the alley where Elektra, Mark and Abby go to meet Stick
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2005 I thought Jennifer Garner did a great job in that movie, 13 Going On 30, but then when I saw her on Leno I realized that it was because she acts like a 13 year old in real life. I have no interest in seeing a movie that's as serious as this that looks as cheesy as it does.

Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2005 Deon's post contains a bunch of crap. If that's what people wanted out of this movie, they never should have made it, as that would never, ever work.
