I love EA.

The NFLPA is included too. I agree that the biggest hit is the baseball games. MVP just crushed its competition this year. With the other sports, the difference in quality is not as great between brands.

That's the thing.  It won't be "Madden" being that this year was probably Madden's last year with the series.

So, nor more Madden?

It won't be the same game.

Crap.

If a lot of Madden fanboys think that its not Madden anymore, and decided not to buy the game since its not Madden, then it'll hurt EA even more.

haha, that would be sad. I have a real hard time believeing that people won't but EA football if it didn't say Madden on the cover. Nobody buys it because of John Madden, people buy it because it's been the best football games for a very long time. Reputation means alot, a washed up coach/announcer means little.

It hasn't been for the past three years.

I think the name has to do with some of the sales.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

the fact that it's Madden has everything to do with the sales, but not the fact that it's named after Madden, if that makes any sense.

Well there's lots and lots of idiots runnin' wild on this big rock so you definitely have a point :)

As for Redbaron, that's all subjective. VC has been improving their football games the past 3 years no doubt, but in my opinion, and majority opinions of consumors, Madden is still superior all around.

I bought both games the past few years just to compare, cause i'm a sports game freak and have to try everything. This year was definitely the closest VC has come to EA in terms of game quality, but they just haven't perfected the Franchise mode like EA has...and I personally like the way Madden plays. The sportscenter highlight feature, and the compatibility with the HDD were BIG pluses for ESPN but after a while the highlights of other games got repetitive and there were too many glitches with the way Franchise mode was run.

Closest?

The closest was in 2003, and Madden dropped the ball in 2004 and Sega picked up the fumble and ran in for a touchdown.

It's not just madden, but all the games in EA's department has gone downhill (except baseball).

You see, part of the reason I prefer the 2K games is because Madden was too focused on extra features, and the gameplay became too cartoony. The 2K series was much better for "on the field" gameplay to me. That and I HATE "EA Trax."

January 24, 2005 - It's not exactly news that Take Two is swinging back in the sports exclusive battle suddenly erupting in the past few months: last week we let you know about a sweet deal with the Major League Baseball Player's Association. Today, however, Take Two announced the agreement officially.

For seven years, Take Two Interactive has exclusive third-party rights to video games using the MLB brand. Unlike Electronic Arts' recent and controversial deal with the NFL, Take Two is leaving some room for competition: first-party developers (i.e., Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo) can still use the MLB goods. The contract officially begins in 2006.

"The baseball video game business has been underdeveloped for years," said John Olshan, the MLBPA's Category Director for Interactive Games. "The upcoming change in technology makes this the perfect time for us to implement our plan for growing the business, and we have no doubt that Take2's proven creativity and innovation, combined with their incredible distribution strength and powerful commitment to baseball, will add real excitement and depth to the video game marketplace. Baseball fans will be the big winners."

Take Two, of course, has of late been a publishing partner (along with SEGA) for Visual Concepts' ESPN sports titles. Electronic Arts recently announced it also nabbed the rights to the ESPN brand as another exclusive.

Funny trivia note from Tips n' Tricks--Madden 05 for Playstation 1 (yes, they made one) had more up to date rosters than the PS2 version, because it came out later. So it had Roethlisberger in it while the others didn't (at least what the article said).

EA fired 60 employees from it's EA Studios.

Oh, for S&Gs, EA's mission statement:

"Electronic Arts' mission is to make fun software for consumers and to help

interactive entertainment become a part of everyday life. To play a leading role

in this new industry, EA needs a dedicated team of pioneers with vision, a

passion for quality, a willingness to innovate and a desire to achieve great

things while vigilantly maintaining our integrity.

Everyone in and around the video game business knows that Larry Probst is a fuck off. Like I've said before, EA really went downhill when Trip Hawkins left.

this sucks. I bought my first nfl game for ps 2 (had a ps2 since dec 02) and it was espn 2k5. the price intrigued me and I just fell in love with the game (not literally) The best football game I have played PERIOD. I have been having tons of fun with franchise mode and simulating this years playoffs. My jets-chargers sim came very close to the actual game itself, except the chargers failed to score on the final drive to tie it.

anyhow EA is the antichrist

in the words of good ol JR

damn you, damn your soul to hell -
