No need for apologies, no nerves were touched (at least none of mine were ... I'm sure there's other Pats fans that might have been more bothered). And, truthfully, you really can't tell who's serious and who's not online.

 

Lastly, in both of our defenses, people are coming out of the woodwork to give their $0.02 on teams that they probably knew nothing about before 2 weeks ago. It's normally safe to presume that person on the other end of the message board is just talking shit.

For the year Lewis had under 30 catches and 3 touchdowns.  He had 3 catches and 2 touchdowns against the Falcons, a very good game, but please don't pretend that he was the key to the Eagles offense.  Mike Bartrum had 1 less touchdown this year.

 

What amazes me is how many people in this thread are making statements out of their asses after apparently watching one or two Eagles games this whole year.  This is a very good football team that is well coached and is not in the least bit afraid of the little Patriots that could.

But how many TDs has Bartrum had recently? Lewis was in the right place at the right time, I fully admit, but can you really think that McNabb wouldn't have loved to keep that train a rollin' and thus kept looking for Lewis near the end zone in the Super Bowl?

 

To be fair, LJ Smith was McNabb's #1 target as a Tight End this year, at least when he wasn't banged up.

The Eagles fans on here have been tame to some of the ones I've encountered lately. The best one threatened to drive to my house and kick my ass for disagreeing with his wonderfully complex agrument of, "The Patroits wil lose bcause they aer pussiees".

 

So far the ones on this board have been a breath of fresh air. Least they can spell and aren't acting like complete morons. Plus I've seen reasons presented, which is always better than "DAWKINS WILL KILL THAT WIMP BRADY CAUSE BRADY SUX!!"

Well, really trash talking is a lot of the fun in being a fan of a team. You take a certain sense of pride that a team you root for won. The fans aren't playing the game, but we are the reason why it is being played, so I think that trash talking is valid.

 

Honestly, there are going to be some people who are right and some who are wrong, but no one knows what is going to happen. That's the beauty of Sports.

I hate parity for two reasons.

 

1. It's fun to hate dynasties if it isn't your team. On the other hand, it's fun to bask in them if it is your team.

 

2. Parity has resulted in so many one-shot playoff teams and/or Super Bowl champions that it's pathetic. You'd think that you'd want your best teams to at least have SOME staying power. Now I'm not saying we HAVE to have teams winning 2 of 3 Super Bowls, but it'd be nice to see more than a couple of them sustain their success for more than one year.

See, I disagree. It seems to me that the level of fan interest in a sport is rarely higher than when there is a strongly hated team playing for the championship consistently. People want to see them lose so badly that they tune in or spend money on tickets to see it.

I guess I don't fit into that group of "everybody". I enjoyed watching Jordan but I didn't love the Bulls. I thought they were terribly over-rated as a team since they showed they couldn't do jack or shit without Jordan in those 2 years where the Rockets won the title inbetween those two 3peats.

Um, Pippen got them to the Eastern Conference Championship in '94 but they went down to the Knicks. I'd say coming a game or two away from the Finals is a bit more than jack shit.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Knicks beat the Bulls to get to the Eastern Conference Finals where they then went on to beat the Reggie Miller Pacers?

Here it is, they beat the Bulls in the Semi-finals. Getting to the Semi-finals in the NBA playoffs is a whoopity shit moment with all their playoff seeds.

 

In the playoffs New York defeated the New Jersey Nets in four games to set up a rematch with the Bulls in the conference semifinals. This time the Knicks prevailed, four games to three, and then needed seven games to drop the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Everyone loved the Lakers from where I went, until the whole Kobe saga. And I hated the Bulls.

 

Everyone liked the Niners though. They defined what a classy organization should be like. They showed it when Rice was bitching about not being the primary receiver anymore with Owens and they gave him a sweet deal to retire with the team, and instead signed with Oakland. Now he's barely good enough to be a #2 or #3 receiver on a team notorious for dropping balls.

I never understood trash-talking, particularly since you can never predict the outcome of a sporting event, and half the time you'll look like an ass afterwards.

I can understand a spirited debate with facts backing up your claims and acting as evidence but what good is "They'll win because you suck!"?
