Moments you never saw coming

Chris Jericho's WWF debut. I NEVER saw that coming.

The Rock winning the WWF Championship at Survivor Series 1998 and joining the Corporation also shocked me.

I can say in all honesty Flair winning the WWF title at the 92 Rumble was something I didn't see coming. It's all very obvious now but at the time I had only been watching for 5 months or so (and was just a kid). I thought for sure Sid or Piper (honest!) were going to win.

What are some memorable moments that made you do a double take and say "Never saw it coming"?

Ric Flair's first WWF jump back in the early 90s and Heenan's announcing of it on WWF TV. I was a know-nothing, happy little mark of a kid at the time and I was floored! Ah, good times... :D

Stephanie's heel turn at Armageddon 99. When that cute little smirk broke out on her face I was stunned.

Trips turning on X-Pac at WM15, after re-uniting with Chyna earlier on the show.

Owen Hart attacking HBK at the DX PPV in 1997.

Mick Foleys first HIAC bump against the Undertaker.

This is more of a "Stupid, what made him do this" one: McMahon doing those dumbass Billionaire Ted skits. How LOW can you be to mock a company for something you did yourself 10 years earlier to other promotions? As well as mock the guy who made your company what it was, and taking cheap shots at Ted Turner's personal vendettas.

One I haven't seen mentioned. Rickey Steamboat returns as Dustin Rhodes' mystery partner versus Anderson and Zbyszko, at a Clash of the Champions in 1991.

That's what immediately popped into my head too, that was one of the best moments ever. Arn Anderson's reaction made that debut too, looking like he'd seen a ghost and saying "Not Ricky Steamboat!!!"

The Road Warriors return to WCW at the Clash as the drivers of the Z-28 Camaro was really suprising too.

The Ultimate Warrior returning at Wrestlemania VIII.

Hulk Hogan losing to the Ultimate Warrior at Wrestlemania VI.

Lex Luger appearing on the first Nitro.

Taz returning to ECW to take the title from Mike Awesome.

I would add the 1993 Rumble finish being shocking too. I had no idea who Yokozuna was (I saw him wrestle once; a squash match) and just thought he was the random big guy to pose as a threat to someone. The silly mark in me should've noticed the only person with a hope in hell of winning was Savage, and he wasn't going anywhere near the title again.

Vader beating Sting at GAB '92

I remember during BATB '96 Mene Gene was outside the nWo's dressing room and Tony asked Gene about the 3rd man. Gene said something along the lines of "I've heard the voice before, but I can't think of it right now BUT IF YOU CALL WCW HOTLINE RIGHT NOW, I WILL THINK OF IT. JUST DIAL 1-900-909-9900. THAT NUMBER AGAIN IS 1-900-909-9900.(I made up that last part)Anyways the 1st thought that came to my head was Hulk Hogan, I was like "Nah" and just put it in the back of my head. Then when Hogan came out(before Heenan's ifamous line) I was like "MOTHER FUCKER" at that point I knew it was him.

Cuz Heenan hated Hogan back then and accused him for being a cheat since he debuted in WCW.

So Heenan really didn't mean to give it away then?

No, I am pretty sure he was just doing what his charicter was doing the whole show.

Hows about the ECW interference in the Savio Vega vs Bradshaw match at IYH Mindgames, that was just surreal, as was the ECW invasion of Raw in early 97 and Jerry Lawler/Jim Cornette showing up in ECW around the Wrestlepalooza 97 event...

And Tommy Dreamer running in on the HHH vs Taz match in early 2000.....

Heenan loved Hogan because working w/ him meant more $$$. But his character has despised him for years and would NEVER trust a guy like Hogan.

Plus, there was a sense of paranoia in kayfabe WCW. NO ONE was ruled out as being the 3rd man, so it's natural that Heenan would make that observation.
