Vince McMahon has to have truley lost his mind to be favoring Hunter's personal World Title over his own family's creation and legacy known as the WWE Title. Does anyone here have any analysis on why Vince may be doing this. The man has turned his own family's company's creation into nothing more than a mere midcard title.

But, why?

JBL's reign has been better then Triple H's on again off again back on again reign.

It's nothing to do with what belt it is; it's the guy carrying it. If HHH wanted to be the CW Champion; he'd take it and that would main event the Mania's and such.

The title just looks better on paper

RAW main eventers

HHH, Jericho, Michaels, Benoit, Kane, Orton, Batista, Edge

I think any one of these guys could hold the title at any time and not be a real disapointment.

Smackdown main eventers

Cena, Angle, Taker, Big Show, Guerrero, Bradshaw

Cena's been squashing midcarders for months now, Taker's locked ina feud no one cares about, Guerrero can't get a win, and the champion is even a stretch as a legit main eventer. Half of their top guys are hosses.

Which title would you hold higher?

The WWE title seems important because it's been held by one man for so long. It only comes across as less important due to the fact that the booking is superior on raw.

The monday night show has always been the flagship of WWF/E programming, all the way back to the Prime Time days.

SmackDown is always going to be viewed as the B show, because that's exactly what it was when it started. If WCW was still around, Thunder would still be their B show no matter how they tried to promote it.

Well then, WWE has become WCW in that perspective, because WWE is making the same mistakes that WCW made.

There is no possible way to make Smackdown equivalent to RAW w/o hurting RAW.

If they poured millions of dollars and talent into Smackdown, we'd all be calling RAW the inferior brand.

It's really quite textbook- comparing two brands, one will always be better then the other. It's like a parent favoring their child. Yeah, you say that you don't have a favorite, but it's human nature. One will always be favored over the other.

It's very much in Vince's character to prefer the brand that makes him more money- and that has always been RAW, from Day 1.

Yes well. You get the idea.

Not to mention RAW has a bigger potential audience than SmackDown. I mean, do YOU know anyone who admits to watching UPN?

Posted

According to stereotypes and Family Guy, only black people watch UPN.

Why would they want to watch Booker by held down?

That's incorrect. More people watch SmackDown than they do Raw.

It seems that its all relative to how the show itself is promoted and how they conduct business per brand. Raw is ahead on points but Smackdown is far better than where it was a few months back when it was just abyssmal. Its like the WWE can only expend their Creative team to come up with compelling storylines for one show, and just half ass it for the other. With few exceptions to that rule however since there are a few interesting feuds and angles brewing in Smackdown, but other things are repeditive. How long before Cena either takes the shot at the WH title perhaps at wrestlemania? After he spent months bouncing off Rene Dupree and Kenzo Suzuki as US contender opponents like a ping pong ball?

Vince is a mark for HHH

HHH is a mark for the Big Gold Belt (because he thinks he's the reincarnation of Ric Flair)

Hence the World Title gets the bigger push

To me the WWE title is more important though

yea thats the thing an arguement can be made that the History of the WWE Title stretches back to the past WWF World championships since it is a direct connection While the Gold belt is obvious background in WCW NWA etc...

However, the WWE isn't about Legacies as much as they are about the Here and now... Hence the current WWE US title.

Speaking of which, do you think they will revert back too the US Flag US title belt if and when Cena loses the belt?

Or is Cena gonna Ultimate warrior his way up against JBL and Win and keep both Belts at Wm?

I will always prefer SmackDown as the better brand, no matter what Vince or JR says. SD! right now, has the more entertaining wrestlers and puts on the better matches than Raw IMO. For example when they were in Japan. SD! had better matches thn Raw. besides, JBL as been a MUCH better Champion than Triple H has ever been. its been what, 8 month? sence JBL won the title, and I'am STILL not sick of him. So JBL is definlly doing something right, I wouldn't mind if he held it past Wrestlemania. hes that entertaining. and its been 2 month sence Triple H won the title back and I'am already sick of him. The Triple H/Randy Orton feud has really put me off as seeing Raw as the better brand. nonthing on SD! has bored me as much as the Trips/RKO feud.

As for the World Title/WWE title situation. I don't view one World title over the other. I just see the titles as the top belt of their respective brands equally. When I watch Raw, The World title is their top belt. When I watch SmacKDown, the WWE title is their top belt. thats how I see it. I only judge depending on who the Champions are. But still theirs no dening the fact that the WWE title is more pregitus(spell check) than the World title. Smackdown! or not, the WWE title has the better history than the World title.

Also, the WWE title contenders is just as good as Raw's, you got..

I hope they burn Cena's title. It looks ridiculous.

Its over though

Agreed.

I think if Cena wins the world title at Mania that they'll do like they did with Warrior, strip him of the US Title and hold a tournament. I'd expect Carlito (if healthy) to win the tournament. If not? Either someone obvious like Eddie or Booker or someone unexpected like Orlando Jordan. It would be a great chance to put over Charlie Haas, much like Perfect winning back in 90 did, but fat chance of that happening.

As for Vince favoring the world title, I don't see it so much as favortism as it is circumstance. RAW is the #1 show, so initially they put the WWE belt on SD! to make the brands seem even. HHH is the favorite son, as well as a mark for the big gold, so that combined with RAW makes it seem more important. In Vince's eyes he probably thinks the WWE title is as strong as it's ever been, considering he's a mark for JBL. And as much as I dislike this whole JBL push, just by sheer ammount of time with the belt it will be important when he loses it, so I have to give them that much.

I'll give JBL this, he has elevated the Honky Tonk Man style manner in being a title holder.

Honky Tonk man as the IC champ was one of the most hated IC champ, and people Just were Begging for Anyone to beat him for the belt and he always slipped out.

Even hated HTM was over as a IC champ for that purpose..

JBL is working it the same way though he uses more of his stable to get him out of those situations.

this may be a rare example of vince actually liking something about WCW. no matter what you say, that title technically is the wcw world title, which had its early history in the NWA title (but sinc ethe NWA broke off from them it doesnt have the lineage) so vince is actually saying he likes wcw in a weird way.

and I dont want to hear about how it doesnt count since wcw is gone. since vince bought wcw he bought the title lineage as well. the undisputed title had the wcw and wwe titles in it. since brock jumped to sd, the title was disputed (in kayfabe then bischoff went to the board and got permisision to strip the world title out of it-of course he chose that belt he was the former head of wcw)

nonetheless, it probably is a good idea to have a champ for each show, even though the roving champ idea was something new, this at least keeps the split right (i refuse to call it a brand extension, its a roster split) . think about it, theyve at least done the split well, infact so well that we all marked out for the sd vs raw clash at the rumble. and interpromotional matches will have a lot of luster to them due to the fact of the 3 years of the split and some new stars who hjave never faced wrestlers on the other show.

that being said, sooner or later the whole split idea will end , most likely if TNA or some other promotion gets a monday night show and actually starts to draw comparable ratings.

vince loves raw, its his baby (he was the first to have the idea of a live/taped show every monday as opposed to studio segments introing taped matches from house shows like prime time was-wcw sat nite doesnt count cuz it was on sat duh lol)

smackdown came along only because of the wrestling boom and vince wanted to outdo wcw (who was the first to create a second live weekly show with thunder, though it tanked after the top stars stopped appearing on it)

so thus vinc ecares more about RAW. Personally I come to favor RAW myself, but thats mainly due to the fact that it is on cable and is live every week, opposed to the taped/edited sd on an inferior network like upn(my local upn has terrible picture quality on my cable so thats also an issue)

but its better to have two different shows a week, as opposed to watching the same people twice a week.

Is it just me, or is JBL getting his fair share of face pops lately?

In Japan, they showed people dressed as Bradshaw. In Montreal, my cousin said their were alot of JBL fans in attendence.

I don't know about most people, but this guy so totally rocks. I'll admit, I 1st hated him, I didn't want him to be WWE champ at all. But i've grown to like him. He's funny, he's smart, he's what a heel should be.

Posted

all good heels eventually get face pops. JBL will have a face turn this year, you can probably bet on that.

the reason he eventually got over as the main eventer is because he developed a unique heel persona, the beer drinking bradshaw had little room for upward mobility. He must be thanking the stars that ron simmons got fired.

he is a strong heel champion whether the smarks admit it or not. sure he needs help to win alot, but thats totally old school booking there so its cool. when ever he loses the title it will mean alot more.
