The NFL Pro Bowl Thread

The Pro Bowl Skills Challenge is at least somewhat entertaining. Michael Vick completed maybe one pass. And Manning surprisingly finished behind Drew Brees, who apparently is still going through his "trying to prove everyone wrong" phase.

Allen Rossum won the Fastest Man Challenge.. And what the hell? Darrell Green is still playing?!

Eagles are at it again....

Eagles players making pitch to Muhammad at Pro Bowl

By GREG BEACHAM Associated Press

HONOLULU - For the NFL's best players, a trip to the Pro Bowl is an honor, a working vacation and a most-expenses-paid reward for a year of hard knocks.

For a week, they're VIPs in an island paradise, reveling in exceptional treatment and privileges for their whole families.

And the all-stars who travel to Hawaii with unsettled contract situations become stars among the stars, who sometimes use this quality time to encourage reunions back on the mainland. After all, it certainly worked last season, when Donovan McNabb sold Terrell Owens on his move to Philadelphia by schmoozing the San Francisco receiver all week. A few of the Eagles were at it again in the week leading up to today's game. One by one, they sidled up to Carolina's Muhsin Muhammad and encouraged him to move to greener pastures - Eagles green, that is. They even goaded Muhammad to pose in a team picture with Philadelphia's 10 Pro Bowl representatives.

"It's definitely a time to see your old friends and make new ones," said Muhammad, who could be released if he can't rework his contract with the Panthers before he's due to receive a $10 million roster bonus next season.

Muhammad still says he wants to stay in Carolina, and he's focused on his second trip to the Pro Bowl, which will be played before an enthusiastic sellout crowd at Aloha Stadium for the 26th straight year.

These recruitment efforts go on quietly, because everything about Pro Bowl week is designed to avoid controversy or stress. The players hole up on Oahu's west side in a luxury resort entirely rented by the NFL, and the week is filled with family-oriented parties and events for the players and coaches. Even the halftime show is almost guaranteed to go off without a wardrobe malfunction when 74-year-old Hawaiian singing legend Don Ho performs.

I love how the NFL's pawns ESPN are quick to dismiss what Troy Aikman said this week. The players we talked too are exited to be playing in this game. B.S., their exited to get a free trip to Hawaii. Matt Birk of the Vikings said, if you see me trying in the Pro Bowl take me out back and shoot me.

No, Green was the defending champion of the competition so he came back to defend his crown.

And old Darrell is quick enough to still be a nickel back in the NFL if he wanted. Lot better than Deion Sanders.

I wish everyone would quit complaining about the Pro Bowl.

Yeah nobody cares but it is fun to watch them go out there and do goofy things and just do whatever to have fun. I enjoy watching it.

Most people do.

I'll be far more excited next Sunday. The NBA All-Star Game is by far the best of the all-star games.

Agreed. Plus there's the dunk contest and the Rookies vs. Sophomores game.

Did I just see Roy Williams autographing his helmet for Peyton Manning?

I think so, this is some kind of Pro Bowl tradition that players autograph each other's helmets.

Well, that game proved what we knew from the start of the season.

AFC > NFC

Although they did almost comeback.

To be fair it's not really accurate considering the amount of players that regularly drop out each year. I don't think Favre has ever played in more than maybe one or two, and he's certainly been elected a lot more than that.

Bill Cowher may not be able to lead The Steelers to a Super Bowl, but By Gawd he Is now 4-0 as Head AFC Coach In The Pro Bowl!!

Yeah, I know, but we In Western PA have to have SOMETHING to cheer about In Feb.

Yeah, the NFC would have won for sure if Favre played. :D

I didn't say Favre alone would make the difference, I was just using him as an example.
