Guest PlatinumBoy Report post Posted March 7, 2005 I always read it as the Comedian not being interrupted before he could start. Hooded's reaction to Spectre I is really fucked up and weird in that scene. I would infer that although he recognizes that Comedian was at fault in this scene, that Spectre one probably HAD been flirting with Comedian, and shown an interest in him. And in those times, that was probably looked down upon almost as much as what Comedian tried to do. Or he could just find the female form repulsive, being gay and all, or a combination of the two. He's one character I wish they had given a little more attention to. I agree on how HJ felt about Spectre. Not only was he repulsed perhaps--but even though he beat the shit out of Comedian, he came out looking like a loser due to Comedian's sharp tongue. Also, remember HJ wasn't just gay--he was way out there. He'd bring guys back from the bar and beat the shit out of them after sex to the point of almost breaking bones. I know they wanted to do it, but it would be cool to see the Minutemen more. See Captain Metropolis and Hooded Justice interact, see who they fought, see the lesser characters, etc. etc. Also, this is just purely for fun, but here's my at the moment list of how powerful each character was from what we saw. Dr. Manhattan Ozymandias Comedian Hooded Justice These four at the top, in this order. Manhattan is obviously the most poweful, then Ozy... who beat Comedian. Comedian beat Hooded Justice... so... Rorschach Nite Owl 1 Nite Owl 2 Silk Spectre 2 Captain Metropolis Next these five in any random order really. We didn't see much of Captian Metropolis, but he stayed in the game for a while. Nite Owl 1 was a great fighter from what we saw, Nite Owl 2 wasn't half bad and had his gadgets. Rorschach was an animal and super clever, and Laurie was pretty handy in a fight as well. I'd probably place Rorschach at top, Captian Metropolis on the bottom, and the other three could go in any order. Dollar Bill Mothman Silhouette Silk Spectre 1 These four were the "loser" superheroes who died ungloriously or weren't strong/tough at all really. Lastly, to keep this going, who would you cast in Watchmen? After watching Red Dragon tonight, I defintely think Ed Norton would be a good Rorschach. He's smaller, but still can come across as a physical threat, and I think he could do a good job acting it out.
teke184 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2005 Comedian- I could see this being a Gene Hackman, Christopher Walken, or Clint Eastwood role. Silk Spectre 2- I'd probably go with Jessica Alba or Sarah Michelle Gellar instead because they have the acrobatic background required by their work on Dark Angel and Buffy. Rorschach- Edward Norton is a good choice. I could also see other noted psycho actors like James Woods, Kevin Spacey, Steve Buscemi, Walken, etc. However, this is one part that should legitimately consider a no-name actor taking the part because the audience should wonder what the deal is with the Sandwich Board Guy until he's unmasked as Rorschach. Nite Owl 2- The best fit I can think of offhand is probably Nick Nolte, because Nite Owl is supposed to be an out-of-shape guy who used to be a real ass-kicker. I could also see Kiefer Sutherland in this part if he makes himself look really washed up, like he's done for portions of 24. Ozymandias- Matt Damon perhaps... It needs to be someone who isn't too old, is really athletic, and at least comes off as being somewhat smart. Damon was my first pick because he has the same general look as Ozy in the comic. Dr. Manhattan- Doc will probably be a digital creation, like The Hulk in the recent movie, especially because of the special effects involved. Moloch- Leonard Nimoy Nite Owl 1- Adam West. No question about it.

So why pick Matt Damon then? Two words: Jason Bourne. He was able to pull off that role fairly well, unlike his buddy Affleck who failed miserably in every similar situation. I see someone with more of an aloof worldliness quality playing Ozymandias, such as Jude Law. Matt Damon's got too much of a cunning streetfighter hero type for the part. Special K 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2005 I thought Jude Law too. He can play a arrogant pretty boy quite well. The only thing, is it may make Ozymandius's villainy a bit too obvious.
Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2005 To see perfect casting, draw the Nite Owl costume over a picture of Dan Aykroyd. It's uncanny.
Special K 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 The hardest thing about it is that every character except Dr. Manhattan shows up both in their prime and over-the-hill. It's easier to make an actor look older than younger, but the character's appear for the majority of the story as their older counterparts. I guess the masks will help that. Dan Akroyd, for example, would have a hell of a time playing a young Nite Owl.
Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 Ha...yeah. Never thought of that. But still...uncanny.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 Actually, I think Andy Dick should be Rorshach, because he's fascinatingly ugly.

Jude Law actually DOES want to play Ozymandias. He's a big comic book fan and even has a tatoo of Rorschach's mask design.

Sass 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2005 Rorschach - Gary Oldman. He's just short enough for the role. Nite Owl 2 - Tom Sizemore. Only if he's not locked up in jail with a prosthetic piss cock. He's got the build needed. Silk Spectre 2 - Diane Lane. She looks 30 but is really 40. I'm sure she can pull off a couple of her own stunts. Her or Katherine Bell. Ozymandias - Brad Pitt. He looks like he's 30 when he's really 40. The guy has the acting chops for this. I like the thought of Val Kilmer as Ozy though. Both guys could fit the bill. Dr. Manhattan - Arnold Vosloo, from the Mummy, has the look. Everything else would need to be CGI like the Hulk. The Hulk had Bana's face and Vosloo's face looks like Manhattan's. Comedian - Stacy Keach, from Titus, was born for this role.
Guest PlatinumBoy Report post Posted March 13, 2005 Manhattan would probably be CGI, but there would be enough live action of him to justify getting someone halfway decent.
