The Czech Republic Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I'm trying to copy a drum corps DVD for my friend but I haven't gotten home yet to do it so I don't know if it's copy-protected or not. Drum corps is pretty bush-league in terms of making stuff so I doubt it, but if they did wise up, is there a way I can get around it anyway? Sounds like a stupid question, probably is, but I figure there's a way to do almost anything. k thx bye
haws bah gawd Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I se a program called DVDShrink. It copies an image of the DVD to your harddrive, or wherever you want the image to go, enabling you to copy protected discs.
razazteca Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Use an old VCR to copy it to tape.
yankovic fan Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Use an old VCR to copy it to tape. That doesn't work. Tried it. The copy came up as if I was watching a scrambled channel with the occasional clear spot. Now that's if it's copy protected.

If you want to go the VCR route, you can buy a cheap video stabilizer on ebay for around $20. There's an almost 100% chance that it'll work.
razazteca Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 My Sharp VCR has been circumventing the Macrovision copy protection for years.
Jobber of the Week Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Sure, it's easy to rip. http://www.dvddecrypter.com/ However, do you want to make a direct copy or encode a compressed Divx-style AVI to play on your computer or what? Which choice you make affects which programs you download and what you do with the data after you ripped it.
The Czech Republic Posted February 17, 2005 Author Report Posted February 17, 2005 I'm just making a copy of the DVD onto a DVD-R.
