Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2005 5 - Marvinsalunatic 6 - treble 7 - Cartman 8 - Razaztec 9 - Vern Gagne 10 - Slapnuts That's who's up. Current information is up to date. In regards to treble, I've got your picks kind sir, and I thank you for sending those in. Quite sure you'll get the first one.
Styles 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 I'm beggin' ya Flik, can we try finishing this in an AIM chat?
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 *begs with Slapnuts* I know...we still have a month, yadda yadda...but I just want it done before opening day. Assuming we go 5 picks a day from here on out(on a good day), that's 110 picks out of a total 180 picks(excluding the 4 keepers and rounds 1 & 2). In order to reach 180, we'd have to go roughly 8 picks a day.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 I suggust that the people who slow down the draft should send a top ten list to the commish while the rest of us can continue without them.
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 Yeah, but how can we get together everyone for an AIM chat if we can't quite seem to get them together here? It just seems like it could be tricky since we have a bunch of people in different time zones and what not. I just see it going disastrously, especially with the amount of picks we still have to make. EDIT: I like Raz's idea. Maybe Flik can cut the time down to like 6 or 8 hours, instead of 12 as well. Styles 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 Do it on a weekend or something, try to find a time that suits at least 2/3 of the people for those who absolutely can't make it, have them send a list of picks (maybe 30 or 40) in order they'd draft that Flik could be in charge of... Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 I said pick up the pace people. This is not a sign of "OMG its not gonna make the date." Its a sign that I'm concerned with how much we've still got to go. Although, the later rounds should speed up, I'm just concerned that we're taking a little too long to make easy choices here since you should have a ready and waiting list of players you wish to take. As for doing an AIM chat, I'm willing, but hesistant to agree to anything since I doubt we could get everyone for it and I could keep up with draughting down everyone's information (a big problem last year and another reason this is being done the way it currently is). I've been in talks with someone who thinks we should just do the list thing for the later rounds so we don't have to worry about them. For anyone needing facts on why I'm concerned: We'll be done in 23.7 days, or roughly April 3rd if we can't pick up a little. Although, if we can do 11 picks a day (as we currently are at 10) we'll get to 20.9 or roughly March 30th. So far still on schedule, but dipping a little bit into the area of falling behind. Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 I disagree. I think Flik just needs to encourage the use of PM. For instance, if you know you aren't going to be Online for awhile and there are 5 picks until yours, you just send Flik your top 5 or 6 or what have you. It's like right now we're waiting for Marvin. As it is, pretty much everyone who has a pick coming up has been on TSM around an hour or two ago. Assuming Marvin had been around, we'd probably be at bravesfan's pick about now. Considering him, Bored, myself, cuban, iggy, and smell the ratings are usually on during the later evenings, we'd likely have a round done by morning. I honestly think we can get this done this way, we just need to find a way to make sure no one gums up the works, so to speak.
Styles 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 I think maybe the concern is people don't like to reveal their "depth chart" so to speak lest someone steals their picks. So, could we maybe modify this by finding a volunteer who's around the board a lot who'd be willing to accept PMs from everyone? Under this system I propose the new rule is: -Everyone must submit to whoever our neutral party is your top 5 picks. -When it is your turn you get a shortened time limit (4 hours?) since the last person picked to post your pick. -If you do not show up by that time, and the neutral party is on, he will post the team's top avaliable pick instead. -We can alter this rule to state that if "X" amount (3?) of teams with upcoming picks within 5 places after the team currently on the clock, and the neutral person is on, the teams can request the top pick be posted of the current on the clock team even under the time limit to speed things up and allow the lurking posters to get theirpicks done. -If all 5 of your "que" picks have been chosen, you can send a new top 5. -If you surpass the time limit, and all your top 5 has been chosen and you have neglected to send a new que, then the team following will be allowed to pick, and the draft will continue. -Whenever the team who "lost" a pick returns, they can post their pick regardless of current order. (But, if who they wanted was chosen by someone after them in the order, that's too bad). How do those rules sound? Amendments? Ratify it? Tell me to blow off and be patient? MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 BTW, I was around all last night and like 2 picks got made in all. I would have pm'ed some picks but it was still like 7 picks in front of me and had I sent a PM, with my couple of picks, they would have been gone (I wanted Boone or Willis). razazteca 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 Did Treble already PM his pick?
Cartman 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 Yes, and I just PM'ed 2 players also. So as soon as Flik gets back they will be posted.
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 I am not really blaming you, Marvin. I can understand about slow periods, as I have noticed that this draft either has 4 or 5 picks all within a few minutes of each other, or like 1 or 2 in a few hours. I am just saying, in a general sense, if we found a way to cut down on the slow periods then things would move a bit quicker, as it seems one slow period leads to another and so on. I just used you as an example. since it was current. Just wanted to clear that up.

To comment on the "neutral party" just to ease people's fears about me using it as a way to draft people others have: 1) I always am notifying HarleyQuinn and Al all of the people I'm willing to select as I've been asking HQ for projections all draft long and Al because he's freaking Al. So they can confirm that the pick I'm trying to make isn't a steal of someone else's. Unless its like someone I've projected (and frankly has anyone had these players I've got on their depth chart, don't think so). 2) I've already done this for four people and I haven't stolen any of their picks yet, nor do I intend to. If its someone I've asked for projections from HarleyQuinn, well then I apologize ahead of time. 3) Come on. Like you people really have to worry about me. I use a freaking Magic Sorting Hat for crying out loud. Do you need to fear someone with a Magic Sort Hat? Huh? That's a magic sorting hat to make my picks. However, if someone will find me a neutral party that is on as often as I am (just saying), then yes, I'll agree to doing this no problem treble takes Jeff Bagwell Cartman takes Guillermo Mota Due up: 8 - Razaztec 9 - Vern Gagne 10 - Slapnuts Edited March 10, 2005 by Lightning Flik
