Head 2 Head Fantasy Baseball 2005

Recommended Posts

I bench JD Drew last week since I thought he was hurt and wouldn't play much, and he hits 3 HRs.

I put him in my line-up for this week, and find out that he broke his wrist.

My team sucks enough, I don't need more shit like this dragging me down.

Good

-I was able to dump Kenny Rogers before the suspension was announced

-Got Carpenter and Robertson in trade

Bad

-Jim Thome went to DL again

-Outfield got weaker by trading away Burnitz

Ugly

-John Smoltz trade offers

It looks like my pitching staff FINALLY got it together last week getting 2 wins and have a combined ERA under 3, as I stopped my 5 week or so winless streak.

Already, this week seems positive as Scott Elarton pitched a complete game, while my opponent's ERA is going to be screwed after Bruce Chen's sterling 1.1 inning 6 run performance. Plus, his starting 2B second baseman just went on the DL. Hopefully, that will bode well for this week's game.

Since Thome went down on your team I offered Richie Sexson and Sean Estes (a top first baseman and a mediocre starter) for John Smoltz and Dmitri Young (a top starter and a mediocre 1B). If you didn't like the offer, you could have just rejected it. Instead, responding with Neifi Perez and Carl Pavano for Miguel Tejada and Livan Hernandez is just stupid and reeks of trying to get me to accidently press "accept".

With that said, I'm still looking for a *good* starting pitcher and am dangling Richie Sexson, Mike Cameron, David Delluci, Raul Ibanez, Mike Lowell, Darin Erstad and Jay Gibbons. Not all at once, of course ;-)

My team continues to be the most inconsistent in the world. Last week i was only a K away from losing 10-0, and now i go and beat the King of Baseball Knowledge Al. Now that i'm in 13th hopefully i can sneak into the consolation playoffs at least.

Ugly

-John Smoltz trade offers

What's ugly are those Hawpe, Monroe, and Young for Giles and Bay offers. Ugly as hell.

At least it was a 3 for 2 deal.

Since Thome went down on your team I offered Richie Sexson and Sean Estes

It did look good but my pitching would never win a stat without Smoltz.

After picking up Shelton, Ive decided that Phil Nevin is tradable.

He's on the DL right now, but he's supposed to be back sometime after the break. I'll also consider trading Ohka after Mike Hampton returns (after the break as well).

I can see why you don't want 3 1B considering 2 of them are on teh DL...another one in the red won't hurt. Hell I got tired of that myself and dumped Dmitre Young for Thomes prospect replacement.

With both Clint Barmes & Cesar Izturis on the DL and the free agent crop looking completely terrible, i'm in need of a shortstop. Throw some trades at me, all will be considered.

The highlight of my week was winning 3 games today to give me the win in that category. I still got my ass kicked, though. Again.

If anyone wants to trade me a good, young pitcher, Eric Chavez is available.

Shouldn't it be fleshed out to see who has the most "real" all stars from this year? I've got 4, with Tejada and Kent as starters and Mora and Livan Hernandez as reserves.

I had:

Starters

Brian Roberts

Chris Carpenter

Reserves

Michael Young

Aramis Ramerez

John Smoltz

Does the traded all star dance too....Carpenter for Kenny Rogers.

I have Teixeira, Soriano, Ensberg, Anderson, Podsednik & Izturis (if he counts) from the All-Star crop, and had Jason Bay and Scott Rolen for a while before trading them.

Wow, all those all stars and my team is still totally shit.

Trade announcement!

Rockbirds get:

G. Maddux (ChC - SP)

A. Boone (Cle - 3B)

Brockvegas Posse get:

D. Erstad (LAA - 1B)

R. Drese (Was - SP)

Boone will be released immediately, so it was really a 2 for 1. Finally got my pitching upgrade in Maddux. Hopefully Erstad (who didn't have a spot to play on my team) and Drese, who while improving needed upgrading, can help treble's team rebuild.
