Worst feud going into a match?

Recommended Posts

Booker T/Edge from WM which was over a shampoo commercial.

Jericho/Kane over spilt coffee.

I'm sure there's others.

What are some good ones?

How about Al Snow stealing Socko and wrapping it around Head?

Well, the Snow/Mankind match was part of the Survivor Series tournament...so, it wasn't so much of a feud as a side-story. Technically, they would have wrestled, Socko or not.

I always thought the Shawn/Bulldog Diana angle from 96 was a very lame reason for a world title feud. Davey Boy got it squashed before it really even started, so that month of build was rendered pointless.

Bret/Jean Pierre Liefette feud in 95 over Bret's leather jacket.

The Bulldogs/Islanders feud in 88 over the Matilda kidnapping. Heenan made it somewhat watchable, if it was anyone else other than him, it would have gone down as one the worst angles ever.

Bad News Brown's sewer rats vs Jake's Snake from Summerslam 1990.

Brian Christopher and the Blue Meanie had a very brief feud on Shotgun/Jakked/Metal over who was the better dancer

Nothing can touch the HHH/Kane Katie Vick angle. NOTHING... except Shane Douglas/Kidmans viagra on the pole build up (SD can't get a boner... and thats basically it).

Don't forget the fact that Torrie Wilson used to be fat.

Ohh, and and watching her man lift weights makes Torrie horny.

And then Douglas rubbed Kidman's face into the pills if I remember correctly.

My favourite:

Steve "Mongo" McMichael vs Davey Boy Smith. The epic feud was started by Mongo walking up to Bulldog back stage, and uttering the famous words "Don't just stand there drinking coffee when a man's talking to you!"

For me, it's just the ultimate I-want-troubble-and-I-don't-care-how-I-get-it line:-)

Just imagine walking up to someone, delivering that line and punching them in the face...

Beautiful.

Chris Benoit vs Kurt Angle @ WM X-7

We need a match!

That one gets a bye because of the participants ;)

Plus I kind of like the idea of 'no bullshit, let's fight and the winner will be one step closer than the loser'. Two top contenders going at it for no reason other than determining who is better is a hell of a lot better than some bullshit thrown together to make the fight 'entertaining'.

I think Ric Flair vs Ronnie Garvin would have to be up there (after Garvin won the World Title), since Garvin basically disappeared before the rematch because no one wanted to put him over, and it was a given that Flair would win the rematch.

Any Kane Vs. Undertaker match.

The undead zombies former manager who ran a funeral home brings his brother, another undead zombie with powers to set people on fire wants revenge, then the manager reveals he's the father...

Whats wrong with that? Actually, thats probably the BEST feud between them. Anything since then was stupid...

"KANES HUMAN!"

"IM A MONSTER!"

"YOU'RE DEAD! DEAD DEAD DEAD!"

I was going to mention the coffee thing and the shampoo thing heh. Um...Tully turning on gino Hernandez just after they won the tag belts made little sense, especially after they had been after the tag title for AGES.

Chris Benoit vs Kurt Angle @ WM X-7

We need a match!

Hey not that there was anything wrong with that

They just didn't have a darn thing for them to do other than realize "Hey you know neither Benoit or Angle are on this card?"

At least thats better than some of the reasons for feuds listed

In fact, whatever happened to just plain "THEY HATE EACH OTHER" buildups

I thought it was started during a Mean Gene interview with Mongo and Mongo going off on all the new talent coming from all over and DBS comes out and says "I need a bone to chew on. You could be that bone" or something like that

Have I got it wrong? I think I read it at the Wrestlecrapsite, and they usually get it right...Well, never let the truth get in the way of a good story:-)

That may have been the "official" start of the booking of the feud and the promo was just a way of reintroducing DBS in WCW, just so happened that Mongo was the other guy in both segments

Who knows... I just always liked that quote "You could be that bone" and it just stuck with me

Don't ask me why Mongo was the "go to guy" to ask about all these new talent coming into WCW at the time...

I think the build up to Angle/Benoit at WM 17 included Benoit stealing Kurt's medals and sticking them down his trunks with Angle trying to remove them in a rather gay moment.

Rock and Bulldod's feud over dog shit was pretty brutal. Although Cole's call of the Rock Bottom into it was priceless.

That was the build up for Judgment Day's 2/3 Falls Match I think. At Wrestlemania X-Seven, Angle has his medals with him, but I don't have Backlash, so I can't confirm if he didn't have them then.

Yeah, the X-7 match was a simply Angle going on the RAW previous and saying "Hey, I don't have a match for Sunday" and Benoit appearing and saying "Now you do."

I mean hey, at least it got them on the show, and they did continue the feud afterwards so I think that can be forgiven.
