Championship Week

It's Memphis so no. (I know I sound like a horrible fan but that's the truth)

UTEP is a good team that might be going to the tourney or at least a strong NIT team and Rice also had a good season. Plus UAB is staying and they had a strong year.

But if Washington can bounce back and have a great NIT- I think next year could be the year for Memphis to shine.

When do they start recruiting and all of that?

Recruiting is all year round from Midnight Mania, to 2 weeks before the Tournament, when I think they're not allowed to contact their recurits.

Then a week after the Tournament, is where most of the signings take place in the 5 week period after it.

I did feel sorry for Washington. They said "Somebody is going to have to pick that poor kid up." or something like that. I never played basketball so I don't know what that feeling is like but it can't be good.

My God in heaven. I almost had a complete seizure when Garcia fouled Washington on that 3 at the buzzer. I though "Holy fuck we did that AGAIN!!!!!!!!!" I ask you, isn't it insane that a team can foul someone at the buzzer on a 3 twice in one year (first was UK of course). I guess Washington is no Sparks though, huh?

As far as feeling sorry for Washington, ah well. Look, it was a fucking nightmare that the CUSA tourney was moved from Louisville to Memphis (which cost the conf. about 1 million dollars just to let their homies get an unfair advantage they didn't deserve), we had to play an insanely desperate team who wanted to get in the dance, etc.

But good lord, was that a GOTY candidate or what? If Memphis could bring it like that every game they'd be a 2 or 3 seed easy. As it is, bye bye boys. See you in the NIT...not. Enjoy being a glorified midmajor in a crappy CUSA while U of L goes on to fame and fortune in the Big East.

Why the hate and animosity?

It was a great game where you guys escaped with a win. I know Memphis and the Cards are rivals but I view it as more of a respect rivalry, whereseas with Cincy- I just want bad things to happen.

And moving it to Memphis didn't automatically give them a trip to the finals. Memphis has sucked at home this year. They got lucky in playing S. Florida and destroyed UNCC.

"All glory is fleeting."

Although this isn't the time to debate I will not throw my hands up and praise the soon to be 16 team Big East basketball division. They'll carve that up in less than 10 years.

Great win by Louisville, they remind me of Arizona, I could see a great tourney run, but a Saturday or Sunday loss on the first weekend may be just as likely.

Georgia Tech is BACK! BJ Elder's still not doing shit, but Bynum and Schenscher are stepping up like crazy, and they're definitely going to finish off Carolina. If they beat Duke tomorrow, they deserve at least a five seed.

To be quite honest I think they deserve a #5 seed regardless. If they are a #6 seed I would hate to be the #3 in the second round.

Oklahoma can kiss their 2 seed goodbye if they don't make a run against Tech here.

Yeah well I'm happy with a 3 seed. A team that was picked to finish like 5th in the conference winning it and getting a 3 seed? That's awesome for me. I didn't even expect this much. They're just adding icing on the cake now. But Tech is playing good. And Bobby Knight really needs this win.

Plus it's hard to win so many in a row. I was afraid if OU kept on winning that they would get into the first round of the tourney and the bubble would burst. This might end up being better.

And Ga Tech made a believer out of me today. But I don't think they're going to the Final Four. Maybe Elite 8.

This is good. This is good.

If OU came into the tournament winning so many in a row it'd be easier to get knocked out in the first round. I'd be afraid of them getting comfortable with winning and then getting upset in the first round.

Now they've lost in the semi-finals of the conference tourney. They have a bunch of time to rest. And now they can move onto the tournament pissed off and ready to win. That 3 seed looks pretty good to me and hopefully they get placed in OKC.

Also we won the Big XII regular season title. Which as Eddie Sutton said is so much more important than winning that conference tourney. And I agree with him. I'm prouder of that than winning the conference tourney.

But where does this put Texas Tech at in the tourney?

And GaTech is up on UNC. But I'm not worried. UNC knows how to come back.

Oops...

Maybe the third times the charm?

Yeah. Ga Tech is definitely better than I thought. But they're still making a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 exit. There are too many teams better than them that can make it to the Final Four. And yes I think UNC is still better than them. Well I think most people think that.

UNC has been the better team this year. It's nice to see Tech peaking at just the right moment. If they get both Elder and Luuuuke streaking at the same time, it'll be deadly. It's a shame they'll still be a 6 or 7 seed, but you really don't want to play them. I think this was the 7th game the whole team has been together (i.e. not injured).

We'll see what happens when they play NC State tomorrow.

NCState or Duke. And Duke happens to be winnign right now. As much as it pains me to say.

Anyways I think they deserve a 6 or 7 seed. They haven't been very good during the year. They shouldn't be rewarded for potential.

GW/ST Joe's is going to be a good one. GW literally wore out Temple's zone last night and trapped Mardy Collins to death. This is a really fun team to watch. They basically play school-yard b-ball with non-stop running and a ton of dunks.

Many ppl say GW already locked up thier bid with 21 wins but thier are some doubters. I'd say its 50/50 but I'd rather have them win. It would be good for the A10 to have St. joe's win so 2 teams will get in. No A10 team has ever been denied a date in the tourney with 8 or less losses and more then 20 wins so it looks good for GW even though its a down yr for the A10. Watch for POPS

You're entirely right that they should be a 6 or 7. That's why its a shame (since they started ranked 3rd. That's what injuries did to the team.

Right now, NC State leads Duke, because Duke isn't penetrating.

If conference tourney's mean as much as they seem too, Wake and maybe UNC shouldn't get a #1 seed. They didn't even make it to the finals, let alone win the whole thing. Wake lost to NCST, which was a horrible team this year. There is no way the should get a #1 seed.

This is how the seeds should go:

Illinois, if they win the Big Ten or not.

Arizona, only if they win the Pac-10. If they don't win, then I could see Duke getting it if they win the ACC.

Kansas, but there tourney win doesn't count since it's after the seeds have been picked.

Kentucky, if they win the SEC or not. If they loose, then that is the only way UNC will get a #1 seed.

Those seeds only really work if the conference tourney's mean as much as they should. Since a team gets an automatic bid if they win their respected conference, then not doing well in your conference tourney should effect your seeding.

For example, if UConn won the Big East, then they would have gotten a solid #2 seed. Hell, they could have gotten lucky and scored a #1. But since they didn't even get to the finals, they are going to drop to a 4 seed or even a 5.

The same thing should be the case for Wake.

UNC had their #1 seed sewn up long before they even got to Charlotte. Wake is another story, but I think the committee will discount the loss to NC State because they didn't have Paul.

EDIT: UConn wouldn't have gotten a 1 seed no matter what they did. If they got a 2, it would have been the lowest 2 in the bracket.

But why does UNC get a #1 seed no matter what? That has never made sense to me. If they don't perform well in the ACC tourney, which they didn't, then they shouldn't get a #1 seed.

Simple as that.

They performed well in the regular season. The season is more important than the conference tourney.

I can't watch Duke anymore thanks to Vitale's constant ass-kissing of J.J. Reddick...

Well if NC State wins then maybe he'll shut the hell up. If Duke wins the ACC tourney he's going to be saying "Duke deserves that #1 seed bay-bee!!!!"

He's already planted the seeds for it earlier in the tourney.

God I can't wait to go to school Monday wearing my Duke jersey, just smiling at all the UNC fans. :D (even if they don't beat Tech, which they probaly will)

IMO, here are my number 1 Seeds.

Illinois = No Shit Sherlock

UNC = No Shit Sherlock, again. However, they will sweat just a bit now. But, losing to a Complete Yellow Jackets Team is not a bad thing.

Kentucky should they win out, or not get killed tomorrow. Cause the committee gives the SEC FAR too much credit.

Finally, I'm going to go out on a limb and say Wake Forest. I think GTech may be on a misson, and I don't think JJReddick has the legs to beat a full GTech Team. (I pray that the Orange don't get the 3 Seed that has to face GTech in the second Round.)

Though Olkahoma State or Kansas may sneak in there, and take it from Wake.

No, the conference tourney does matter.

If a team wins it, they get an automatic bid. So the conference tourney means something for some teams, but not others? That doesn't make any sense.

It doesn't mean as much as the regular season. It means a little bit but a team that had a great season like UNC and Illinois don't really have to do much in the tourney.

Anyways The Cowboys took revenge on The Jayhawks. John Lucas missed a 3 at Kansas and Kansas misses a 3 today. Awesome game. These two teams have great games when they hook it up. Hopefully they'll meet again somehow in the NCAA tourney.

OSU will probably win the Big XII tourney.
