NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2005 So I guess we can thank Heyman for this match as it was him that had to argue his ass off to the writers to do this instead of Angle/UT.

It's a shame his other arguement didn't work out He also wanted Benoit Vs Undertaker.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2005 Shawn v Kurt was put together because a lot of the top people, including Hunter and Flair, felt they could have a great wrestling match, and that this was the place to do it.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2005 As well as the time. Who knows how much longer either man got? Better do it when the chance is there.
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 9, 2005 I'm almost positive that Shawn will win this match. But I'm HOPING that Angle wins, to be honest. Then again, if this is Angle's last big match, it might be better for Shawn to go over.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2005 Getting back to Angle's Billy Madison angle of completing Grade K - 12 in 2 weeks... or something like that, this is the most intrigued I've been in reading SD! spoilers and then not watching the show in some time. While I hope things get rolling with Angle throwing Jindrak threw a window then winning the tag titles with Big Daddy Reigns, that's probably not what this angle is about... but if that's not what it's about, then I don't know what it's about at all! You also have to figure Eddie and Rey are losing the belts soon unless they just run their match as "the tag champs feel like having a friendly match". That might be best as it wouldn't turn either of them heel.
Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2005 It would be awesome if Angle went about recreating the lowest moments from Shawn's career, as people have already jokingly stated. Imagine Angle relinquishing his gold medals because he lost his smile, then realizing he's not a cry baby, and he came back from a broken-freakin' neck. Or he can compare his title wins to Shawn's less-than-savory ones ("sudden death in an iron man match?!" or the screwjob, since we can never drop it). Or he can try and recreate DX with Luther not fitting in at all before realizing he has" more class than Michaels ever had". Et cetra.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2005 It sounds like you just don't like WWE style, period. Which is fine, but to criticize the fact that two WWE workers will wrestle a WWE-style match is rather pointless. I _said_ it would be "a very enjoyable, "fun" match", so how does that sould like I don't like the WWE style? I just don't think it will be as great as everyone will say it will be, because though I don't hate the current WWE style, I also know that it is too limiting for truly great matches to occur under. The great matches that happen in the WWE happen outside of "the WWE style". I am moreso criticizing the people who will go gaga for it, than them. However, Shawn and Angle -these supposed great wrestlers- should be able to go beyond the WWE style like great wrestlers could and would. They won't. Because they simply don't know how to. I don't think most people here even know what they're being excited about. RRR: Wondering why he writes paragraphs when the responses tend to be under 3 sentences. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2005 I'm almost positive that Shawn will win this match. But I'm HOPING that Angle wins, to be honest. Then again, if this is Angle's last big match, it might be better for Shawn to go over. If Shawn loses it is 100% guaranteed that Orton is going over Taker. Personally, I think Shawn should go over. Heels shouldn't win these one-time-only matches, especially when the heel wouldn't benefit that much from the win.
Sass 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2005 I think RRR outdid the WWE with his own booking of the match. Throw in some Bellt-to-belly, T-Bone, Double-Underhook, and Floatover suplexes, and you have an interesting match. Neither guy can sell for shit long-term in an ongoing match but they can drop eachother with bombs. Well, only, really Angle is the one who will be dropping someone. Shawn doesn't even use a Vertical suplex anymore. I think he should at least bust out the Tear-Drop suplex to counter the Angle Slam. Talk about a blast from the past. Angle should bust out the moonsault for old time's sake to. It would be puzzling to see a guy 15 + minutes into a match hit a throwaway move but if he hit it then perhaps it might be of some value for Angle to use. This will probably be the MOYN like Jericho/HBK was at Mania '03. The ME('s) won't be able to hold a candle to this match. Both guys are going to kill eachother for our enjoyment in this match. That doesn't mean it'll be any good though automatically. Angle might break his neck mid-match or else Shawn's knee could finally give out on him. That would be the oppositie of the water cooler talk the WWE would want coming out of the match. Nice work Rudo.

Talk about a blast from the past. He did use that Tear-Drop Suplex in his RAW match vs HHH on December 2003. I don't quite remember him doing it again since, though. The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2005 This match will proabilly be a lot like Jericho/Michaels at Mania XIX for me. I'll say nothing will be able to top it, then I'll try to watch this again a few months later and be disapointed. Some matches don't age well, and I think this is one of those matches. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2005 There could be a lot of neat stuff done in HBK/Angle that probably won't get done. They could do an "evolution of Shawn Michaels" thing, which Angle is sortakinda doing now. Have Shawn bust out the fist drop off the top, tear drop suplex, piledriver, and superkick. Hell, even have a sharpshooter spot. Have them all fail. The story: The Shawn Michaels of old can't beat Angle. Have Shawn win with a new move. The story: The Shawn Michaels of today can. Guerrero vs. Lesnar was the last great match in the WWE, and it was totally outside the WWE style (cept for the run in at the end, which is classic WWE style). Great storytelling involved.
