Sounds pretty decent for six pages, gotta admit the opening is rather shocking. And I get the feeling where the fight aspect may go.

 

But I also get the feeling that this one is not going to end happy.

Rocky becomes surrogate father/trainer for Marie's kid, he ends up rising through the ranks to fight Mason. He loses, but Mason gains respect and so does the kid. Sound about right?

That sounds good to me, LPM. I'm actually thinking about picking up the next issue of that magazine for more...and I didn't even know if I wanted the movie spoiled for me. I just love the series that much.

With the Rocky 6 script, I guess Rocky VII won't be Adrian's Revenge.

I like this script, but Rocky really does have to get back in the ring one more time. That's what makes Rocky V different from all the other ones; I think the fans won't see another Rocky film without Balboa in an actual boxing match (see: Friday the 13th Part V as another example of this kind of situation). Would it be realistic? No. But then again, Rocky shouldn't have survived his fight with Drago if this series were grounded in realism. Also, I'd change the title from 'Rocky VI' to 'Rocky: The Next Round' or something like that so people don't get as sequelphobic about it.

The movie should not be called Rocky VI. It's been 15 + years since the last one was made. This one needs to be the one to give closure to Stallone (along with a paycheck).

Hey, I'm surprised that I actually like it, and I was annoyed to read the "continued in next issue"

I also agree giving it a different name would be better. Kind of pitch is a long-time sequel to the first Rocky rather than the sequel to Rocky V (blech). Rocky: The Next Round or something like that.

I know MGM didn't want to finance this one, but I'm guessing with the success of Million Dollar Baby, they'll want to take a chance on another boxing movie, even though the two will likely be nothing alike.
