strummer 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 Name a wrestler and give the worst year of his career. Shawn Michaels-1993. Totally dogged it in the ring for almost the entire year. Gained weight and slowed down considerably. Got into problems with drugs and had a nasty contract dispute that caused him not to drop the IC title in the ring. Just a horrific year for Shawn. HHH-1996. Jobbed to Warrior at WM. Had his intitial heel push stall big time. The Clique incident putting him on job duty. Not winning the King of the Ring as he was supposed to. Not even appearing on the Summerslam PPV. His push towards the end of the year helped, but an overall bad year. Bret Hart-1999. Start/Re-start on several pushes. Was going to feud with Hogan, then wasn't. Jobbing the US title to Piper. The Owen tragedy. Bickering betwen family members. Dealing with Russo and a career ending injury at Starcade Flair-1991. Dealing with Jim Herd. Just a political mess. Was supposed to job to Windham, then Luger, then just quit after not being able to take it anymore. Herd wanted to totally change Flair's look and halter his push. If Flair hadn't jumped to WWF, his career could have really come to an end. You could also argue the past few years for Flair, but I really think he's having fun out there.
Guest jm29195 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 Hogan- 2000- Could no longer draw and so had his characer adjusted to be like a less risque version of Stone Cold's. Refused to elevate younger talent and then walked out on WCW following BATB 2000, after publicly falling out with Russo...
Silence 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 Raven-1999-2000 ECW days (drugs, booze, overweight, slipped in ringwork, jobbed out to Justin Credible, the infamous "I did the right thing, Tommy!" promo) -2000-2002 WWE days (misuse/usually wrestling on Heat, dropped storylines/feuds) -Mid 2003-present TNA days (his ringwork has suffered between that time, in addition to him losing many important matches, especially on PPV) Damn, Raven's had more bad years than good years in recent history. Benoit -Most of 2003 (jobbed out, got his ass kicked for the majority of his matches, and a "re-tooled" Sean O'Haire gave him a bad match along with giving another one to Eddie Guerrero)
Some Guy 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Austin: 2002. Had shitty matches and poor booking, walked out on the company twice and got arrested for beating his wife. Goldberg: 99. Injury and bad booking killed his drawing power combined with the job at Starcade 98 and he ended Bret Hart's career.
Aero 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Almost every year has been bad for Jericho since 2001, most notably 2002... - Booked horribly as Undisputed Champion until WM X8 when he lost it - One month after losing the title, he's left off of the Backlash card - Loses to HHH, AGAIN, in HIAC at Judgment Day - Loses to Flair at Summerslam - Wins IC Title in September, only to lose it to Kane in October 2004 hasn't been good, either, outside of his feud with Christian. Once they had their cage "blowoff" match on Raw, it was pretty much downhill in terms of actually doing anything useful. All he did was lose to Evolution and Edge through the summer. From there on, he won the IC Title, but lost it the next month and again got lost in the shuffle.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Chris Benoit - 2003. He starts the year fighting Kurt Angle in the MOTY, then gets shuffled down to the tag division, and spends most of the spring/summer jobbing to the likes of Sean O'Haire. He spends the fall feuding with A-Train. Only at the very end of the year, do things start to turn around as he begins his march towards the WWE Title (switched to World Title the next year). Aside from Angle, the quality of his matches were suffering too. Eddy Guerrero - 1999. Starts with a near fatal car accident on New Year's. Hurt for months and when he comes back he is stuck in the awful Filthy Animals faction. This is also around the time that his drug habit was really kicking in and he was looking downright awful in the ring most of the time.
Steve J. Rogers 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 Bret Hart-1999. Start/Re-start on several pushes. Was going to feud with Hogan, then wasn't. Jobbing the US title to Piper. The Owen tragedy. Bickering betwen family members. Dealing with Russo and a career ending injury at Starcade In hindsight, 1997 may have been Bret's worse year -Rematch with HBK is flushed down the toliet because HBK throws hissy fit -Gets into a backstage fight with HBK, real life tensions between the two hit a cresendo in November -Turns heel after a long run as face, because guy he is feuding with is so over with a style that makes Bret's character so outdated and obsolete as a face -Later Bret thinks his heel character was designed to ruin Bret forever in the eyes of the US fan base, this is speculation and a conspiracy theory on Bret's part but I can where he can make that point -He is pretty much told to accept the deal with WCW and then is completely screwed out of a proper sendoff to a man he always despised 1998-2000 was pretty bad but 1997 really set the tone for the downfall of Bret Hart's career Steve
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 21, 2005 1997 would definitely be his worst year in a backstage politics way. He was in the main event for a good number of the PPVs in 1997, was one of the most over wrestlers, and was still putting on good-great matches.

BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 2003, Booker T. Him and Goldust lose the world tag team titles to the un-over Regal/Storm. Isn't even on the No Way Out PPV. Involved in a racial feud with Triple H for Wrestlemania that not only is 4th on the card behind friggen McMahon-Hogan, but also loses it. Is pushed into the midcard in favor of Kevin Nash as Triple H's challenger. Wins the Intercontinental Championship, but has an uneventful feud with Christian leading to him losing the title and suffering a back injury in early August causing him to be out till October. Part of the Team Austin vs. Team Bischoff match, but along with RVD, the Dudleys, Scott Steiner and Mark Henry, doesn't play a major part. Feuds with Mark Henry for the rest of the year. Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 infamous "I did the right thing, Tommy!" promo What was the deal with that? I remember watching him in ECW around then, but I don't remember any promos that stood out as being particularly bad
BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 infamous "I did the right thing, Tommy!" promo What was the deal with that? I remember watching him in ECW around then, but I don't remember any promos that stood out as being particularly bad Around November or so there was a promo on ECW on TNN. It featured Raven yelling about how he did the right thing (saving Dreamer), and asking why Tommy still let the drunk (Sandman) beat him up. He then kept repeating it over and over to the point in which he started saying Mommy instead of Tommy. Wasn't spectacular but no worse then anything else he was doing. Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 For Bret, I think his work on TV was too good for 1997 to count, backstage politics or not. I'd have to say 1995. Moved from meaningless feud to meaningless feud, put on bad matches with bad workers. Pushed aside, along with everyone else, to make room for the clique. He started off and ended the year well, bookending the main events for the year, everything in between was pure crap however. The Rock - 1996. I don't think this one is arguable. BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 The Rock - 1996. I don't think this one is arguable. I suppose so, thought really wasn't on WWF TV enough to classify it as a bad year. Really it was a sixth month period or so (November 96-May 97) that was lousy for Rock.

Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 21, 2005 Rocky never had a bad full year, but as mentioned, from his debut (11/96) through the mid-Spring of 1997, he was unover, putting on shit matches due to having no personality or enough rin knowledge, and couldn't cut a promo.
