Eclipse Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 I have a question. I finally convinced my mom to get DSL, after the crappy 56K service, and their limitations on it. Now, the newest plan is that with a one year commitment, you pay 29.95 a month, and they give you a modem and wireless router. What I JUST realized is that I don't have an ethernet card installed. Would Verizon supply me with one? I remember that my friend was getting DSL, and Verizon sent him one, but I believe at extra charge. OR, is it better just getting one from the stores?
MrRant Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 You can buy one from Best Buy etc, for around $15 bucks for a wired and around $25ish for a wireless.
Eclipse Posted March 20, 2005 Author Report Posted March 20, 2005 Yeah, I just noticed the prices. For some reason, I thought an ethernet card was expensive. My friend has one that Verizon gave him. Hopefully, that one works or something.
MrRant Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 Try about 40-60 for a wireless one. Depends on where you shop.
redbaron29 Posted March 28, 2005 Report Posted March 28, 2005 They gave me a converter ethernet-USB converter. It suppose to be a bit slower, but in the week I used it untill my Nic came in, I didn't notice much difference.
Eclipse Posted March 28, 2005 Author Report Posted March 28, 2005 The modems that Verizon DSL give out now are pretty cool It's the DSL Modem, with Wireless, and it's a router at the same time. It has 4 ethernet plugs on the back of it, and of course the wireless antenna. Pretty damn useful. I was supposed to have my Service Ready Date for today after 6PM, but some automated voice thing called and told me they delayed it until April 4th.....bastards...
