CBright7831 Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 This pretty much confirms that Randy is going over Taker at Mania. I just get that feeling it's going to happen.
MikeJordan23 Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 This pretty much confirms that Randy is going over Taker at Mania. How did you get that from that promo? Randy is jobbing, end of discussion.
Kahran Ramsus Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 I get the impression he is going over too, but I sure hope not.
Guest LooneyTune Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Randy beat up a woman! (starts witch hunt)
Shanghai Kid Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Giving Stacy the RKO....it makes no sense.
tominator89 Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 So, I'm not alone in thinking Orton RKO'ing Stacy was dumb?
Exslade ZX Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Giving Stacy the RKO....it makes no sense. Neither did the dudleyz putting women through tables, and D-von stuttering. But that got them over for quite a while.
Kahran Ramsus Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Giving Stacy the RKO....it makes no sense. He's not talented or charismatic enough to do a promo with substance, so he has to resort to cheap heat.
jester Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Orton pretty much has to go over if they want him to have any kind of credability. I won't even touch whether or not he deserves to.

It is the worst thing that would happen. You can't just put Steven Richards over HHH because the fans wouldn't buy it. He has to earn credibility first, at least enough so that the fans would buy him going over Taker. Trust me, the fans will shit all over it if Orton wins. He has to job clean. Anything else is the wrong decision.
Shanghai Kid Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Yeah but from a kayfabe perspective he's not going to get any tonight. Getting some from Stacy>>>Proving a point to Taker Now the male audience is going to REALLY think Orton is gay.
SuperJerk Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Orton HAD to RKO her. She DOUBTED him. He was sending a message to all the doubters. Glad to see him acting like a heel again.

(And the match he lost was a world title match at that) I mean, longest IC title reign, youngest World Champ, etc. the video package showed his career highlights..and in kayfabe...that's more impressive then pretty much the rest of the locker room.
CBright7831 Posted March 22, 2005 Author Report Posted March 22, 2005 He had the longest IC reign within the last five years. Of course, he hardly defended the title until the end of his run pretty much.

This isn't about accolades in a fake sport. It is about what fans are willing to believe. They do not believe that Orton is anywhere close to the level of the Undertaker at Wrestlemania. Him winning would be as big of a joke as Steven Richards going over HHH for the World Title. Any other time, and he might be able to get away with it. But if he ends the streak, his career as a viable main eventer is over. He'd never recover from the backlash that the fans give him. Think X-Pac. They need to rebuild him. You don't just put him over Taker right away.

Anything else is the wrong decision. Oh, I know the fans will shit all over it. But that wouldn't necessarily stop WWE from doing it. The question is which force is mightier: WWE's insane desire to make something out of Orton, or UT's political power? Because you know Mr. Locker Room Leader Respect My Lard Blah Blah Blah ain't happy about the prospect of jobbing for the son of Roddy Piper's boyfriend. I personally think that UT is currently politicking with all his might, so it's not going to happen. Orton gets squashed, but Undertake offers one of those stupid "respect" handshakes that do fuck all for a wrestler's credability.
cawthon777 Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Giving Stacy the RKO....it makes no sense. Unless your name is Marc Mero, heels don't have popular valets. The reasoning may or may not be there but he had to cut that tie. I was actually hoping he would do it.

So maybe he doesn't mind/wants the job to Orton if that will be the case. Ok maybe not, but, it's a possiblity.

The question is which force is mightier: WWE's insane desire to make something out of Orton, or UT's political power? Taker's power is the only thing that doesn't make this a sure thing. How Vince sees so much in someone like Orton is astonishing. He's our generation's Lex Luger. Constantly pushed despite fans hating the guy..
SuperJerk Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 If Orton wins, the entire IWC will bitch about how WWE refuses to give the fans what they want. If Undertaker wins, the entire IWC will bitch about how WWE refuses to make new stars and how Undertaker's selfish.

If Undertaker wins, the entire IWC will bitch about how WWE refuses to make new stars and how Undertaker's selfish. If Taker wins, I will be quite happy actually. Also, if Orton wins, then Shawn HAS to job. Otherwise Smackdown looks like an even bigger joke than it already is.

Ok maybe not, but, it's a possiblity. Undertaker ASKED for this program with Orton? Where did you hear this? Well actually I can't say for sure that he 'asked for Orton', but a few months back when the reports of the possible Mania match of Snitsky and Heidenreich vs Taker and Kane came about PWtorch and the like were saying that Undertaker was trying to edge his way out of that match, and get into another 'better' match. And I believe (believe) that the reports said he was thinking about having a match with Orton. But maybe it was the other way around, not sure.

If Undertaker wins, the entire IWC will bitch about how WWE refuses to make new stars and how Undertaker's selfish. Well, I am torn. I hate Undertaker, and I admit it would amuse me to no end if he lost his streak to Orton. On the other hand, I know that they should be giving a win like this to someone with much more credability and star power than Orton.

If Undertaker wins, the entire IWC will bitch about how WWE refuses to make new stars and how Undertaker's selfish. If Orton wins at Mania I never watch the WWF again. I can't stand the Undertaker but his streak still means something and it would be the ultimate slap in the face for it to be broken by someone like Orton.
tominator89 Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 I think they booked themselves into a corner here. Internet fans, myself included, who have been complaining about the Undertaker putting people over for years now are actually hoping he WINS! That really has to say something about Orton.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 I just figured that they're trying to build Orton as a future opponent for Batista after he wins the title.

I shall up this right after the Taker/Orton match. I hope you are being serious about this.
JoeDirt Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 I say the match ends with Orton winning by DQ or something after Taker busts him open with a chair Orton brings in the ring, or something like that. Orton says he doesn't want to win like that, and wants the match restarted, no DQ. He kicks out of a bunch of stuff but Taker finally wins in the end with a tombstone onto a chair or something. That's the best I can think of unless they are determined to put Orton over clean.
