geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2005 The main event for Hardcore Homecoming is scheduled to be: Terry Funk vs. Sabu vs. Shane Douglas in a triple threat match according to Meltzer. That may be the worst match ever. Sabu was done before his recent medical problems, Funk is way too old, and Douglas is not good enough to carry them. As far as the announced main-event, it will be a terrible match but for fans who were at the ECW Arena when those three fought in the first ever three-way dance, it should be something special. Funk's hardly the poster child for physical health either, there's bound to be a ton of run in's and various distractions to cover up the many, many limitations of all involved. WWE will likely have Benoit/Jericho/Eddy/Melenko/Storm/Credible combo, Psicosis/Mysterio, Crazy/Nunzio/Tajiri. What they need is four more matches that have cheese graters, barbed wire bats, shopping carts, and Nintendos and one match with two very overrated workers who will put on a gymnastics display that the mutants will clap for before having a sloppy spotfest. For the most part that is what ECW was. I enjoyed the product at one pint but I doubt I'd waste my time on it now. Dude, you're about to anger many. Why, for telling the truth? I enjoyed ECW for time and enjoyed it for what it was, sloppy spotfests, make believe 5 Star matches, great promo work from Taz, Buh Buh, Douglas, and a few others, and generally good booking. That fact that Heymen has managed to convince so many people that RVD is a great worker (he is entertaining but not a great worker by any stretch of the imagination) is a testament to how good a booker he is.
