ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 OK...just for my own personal edification, I decided to make a chart of the current Tag Teams in both Raw and Smackdown. This came about after watching WrestleMania V, seeing how many tag team matches there were. So, officially, here are the teams I currently see on both rosters. RAW: CHAMPIONS: William Regal and Tajiri La Resistance Christian & Tyson Tomko The Hurricane & Rosey Simon Dean & Maven Muhammad Hassan & Daivari SMACKDOWN!: CHAMPIONS: Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio The Basham Brothers Hardcore Holly & Charlie Haas MNM Kenzo Suzuki & Rene Dupree (possibly will team if they return) The Dudleys (MIA for now) ...if the rosters were combined, that'd make a pretty in-depth tag roster. razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 The real tag team division is La Resistence, Bashems, MNM, Dudleys while the rest are just jobbers for the OVW elite...
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 The real tag team division is La Resistence, Bashems, MNM, Dudleys while the rest are just jobbers for the OVW elite... Even Hassan and Daivari?
CBright7831 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 What happened to Suzuki and Dupree? Are they still on TV? You can tell I watch Smackdown! each and every week.
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Maven and Dean I'd consider a real team since it seems they're being paired up thanks to the lack of effort in both characters (not by the guys themselves though). Christian and Tomko are more of the "we team when we need to" variety. Thankfully The Shane Twins and The Heartbreakers should both debut shortly. Oh, and Hassan/Daivari are part of the "OVW Elite" as Raz called them. And I wouldn't count them as a team, since they're yet to have a tag match together. It's more like when Fuji would team up with the Powers of Pain or something at this point.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 What happened to Suzuki and Dupree? Are they still on TV? You can tell I watch Smackdown! each and every week. Suzuki I don't know. He might have a legit injury. Dupree...the last we saw him was slightly before WrestleMania...when Undertaker Tombstone Piledrove him into the ring steps. PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Each brand has a sparse selection, but I think it would be a little crowded with all those largely bland teams in the mix.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Davari is a manager who should never wrestle on a regular basis but only on hot feuds used to get Hassan over. Why isnt Chris Masters working with Simon Dean? Nova would be the perfect mouth piece for Masters. Masters, Nova, Maven > the Smackdown MNM.

Well, maybe that will change soon, and Hassan and Daivari will actually become a regular tag team in the future.
PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 From what I've heard Daivari's perfectly competent, they might have life as a team once Hassan's streak is ended.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Each brand has a sparse selection, but I think it would be a little crowded with all those largely bland teams in the mix. Hey...it worked in 89. Let's see some of the teams we had back then: The Rockers The Twin Towers The Bushwhackers The Fabulous Rogeaus Strike Force The Brain Busters The Hart Foundation The Honky Tonk Man & Greg "The Hammer" Valentine The Powers of Pain Demolition And I'm sure there were more not at WrestleMania V. Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Daivari is way better in the ring than Hassan, so I hope so too. Dean/Maven is an entertaining undercard deal, since no one is going to take them seriously anyways. They should stick Dupree back with Grenier and let Conway go solo and turn face if they gave up on Rene's solo push. Stick Snitsky and Heidenreich together as a hoss tag team. They'd be so obscenely bad the crowd would eat them up as cult favorites and turn them face. Bashams could be great if given promo time and a better gimmick than JBL lackeys. Before his Cruiser push, I would have suggested London and Haas as a new WGTT. Screw Holly. Hurricane and Rosey need gimmick makeovers STAT.
PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Though a lot of it was hollow gimmickry, those teams were all pretty distinctive. Course, in those days that was enough.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Though a lot of it was hollow gimmickry, those teams were all pretty distinctive. Course, in those days that was enough. Well, that may be true. One thing that's really missing from tag teams these days: Team Names. I could easily make team names for some of the teams without names right now. Let's see: Hurricane and Rosey: The Hurri-League Simon Dean and Maven: The Simon System William Regal and Tajiri: The Asain-Euro Connection (If it were Regal and Eugene: The Special Team) Hardcore Holly and Charlie Haas: The Technicians
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 It's no so much the need to end the brand split as it is just having the tag division on one brand...but who knows if that is even the wisest thing to do...
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 It's no so much the need to end the brand split as it is just having the tag division on one brand...but who knows if that is even the wisest thing to do... Yeah...that worked REALLY well the LAST time they did that. But just for curiousity sake, which brand would you put the Tag division on...Raw or Smackdown?
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 I guess Smackdown as long as Raw is the HHH show...to be honest, though, on Raw, whenever they have tag team matches involving the ACTUAL tag teams, I don't watch unless it involves some super group like Benoit and Jericho or Edge and Christian or something along those lines... Let's face it, tag teams these days just aren't cool like back in the day...Bulldogs, Hart Foundation, Demolition etc...THOSE were tag teams...seems like anymore teams are formed with jobbers/lower carders that have nothing better to do and need to have their contracts justified... Guest Coffey Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Like it even matters. Why give them a team name? They'll be split in a month.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Like it even matters. Why give them a team name? They'll be split in a month. I dunno...Regal and Tajiri need SOMETHING to do, so teaming together should be fine. ...at least till Eugene gets back.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Actually, when Eugene comes back, Regal will probably turn heel on him and they'll feud. I don't expect Tajiri/Regal to last that long. I wouldn't be surprised if whomever accepts the open challenge beats Tajiri/Regal for the belt and then they split right after. Or at least the seeds will be planted that there's friction. Regal and Tajiri don't need anything to do. WWE doesn't have anything to do with The Hurricane, Val Venis, Steven Richards, etc. Why should they be any different?
