Eclipse 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2005 http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=58734 Click that link for the confirmation. This info was released online, along with some magazine scans. It was translated, and it revealed some info about the game, along with new screenshots.. The info is... -The starting point of the game has been revealed. It's a place called Toaru Village. The first couple of missions will be a tutorial like thing. -You start off young in the game, and you don't start off with that legendary green tunic. You age in this game as well. There's more, but I will let you guys read on. NINTENDO is PISSED, as this info was to be shown at E3. Alot of screenshots from their E3 demo are in that magazine. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2005 Aonuma also revealed that this will be one of the biggest Zelda games ever, apparently two or even three times the size of Ocarina of Time with the potential for more than 70 hours of gameplay. YES!! Aonuma said that the game's graphics, despite the rendered look, would be taking a stylistic approach heavily influenced by Japanese shonen (boys) manga, and not simply aping the CG look of Square Enix's current-gen Final Fantasy RPGs. NOOO!~~ I would have preferred something in between Wind Waker and OOT myself, but eh--it won't deter me. Of course, the visual style isn't exactly news to us by now. I may need buy a Gamecube again. Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2005 Oh man... This sounds so awesome... And hey, don't knock the looks of the graphics just yet. I mean, I liked the look we got the from the teaser that just showed us what it looked like. I also find this game instantly more appealing with Link growing (punny, I know) into becoming the Hero. This should be cool.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2005 This game cannot come out soon enough. I hope the gameplay stays true to the Ocarina of Time formula, because that is my favorite game of all time. I guess I have enough Zelda to hold me over, though. I got into Zelda late (I played the older NES games but didn't own one til OoT) and I've only finished OoT and the original NES game. There's still Zelda 2 , Majora's Mask (didn't like it back in 2000, but I'll give it another shot), and the Ocarina Master Quest which I have, along with the several Game Boy games, Link to the Past, Wind Waker, and even those wretched CD-I titles to explore. Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2005 This'll make a nice launch title for my Revolution.

I know, I can't wait, Zelda has always been my favourite (excuse the pun) franchise of game, I've got every game on every platform, it simply is that good. Agreed on OoT too, I'd rather have that sort of game than Wind Waker (not that there was anything wrong with that, the cartoony graphics just didn't do it for me) Then again, I have Zelda 2 on a GC disk and they were hardly super graphics
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 24, 2005 I actually played Zelda II before I played the original so I consider it a classic. It was way more difficult than the original and it was alot longer.
Eclipse 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2005 If I am right....this is gonna be a GameCube release.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2005 I'm aware of that, but I don't see much point in buying a GC now.
Guest Lawlerm Report post Posted April 25, 2005 Well they aren't going to bring it out on both formats so it certainly won't be a launch title for the Revolution.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 Revolution is supposedly backwards compatible (or at least that's what's going around the rumor mill). So hence why you could just wait for Rev. Besides, if you wait for Rev, GC prices drop down mighty far, so you'll be able to pick one up for cheapness.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 I thought Backwards Compatibility was confirmed? I'm psyched for this one, since I just beat the Water Temple on OOT. Plus I've started a new game on LTTP. Cubes are pretty cheap already when you consider they're a mere 60 bucks used these days. The issue isn't so much cost of the system for me as it is space. Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 (edited) It was confirmed, but Xbox Next was supposed to have a harddrive, and then they said it wouldn't. So until I see the machine, I ain't believing it. Edited April 25, 2005 by Lightning Flik

The XBox360 is confirmed to be backward compatible IF you get the version with the hard drive. But I guess, yeah, plans could change. PSX, 64DD, etc.

Eclipse 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 LOL, forgot about the backwards compatibility of the Revolution. The controls should be similar to the OOT style, since L-Targeting is in the game.

Just kidding around, guy. So the graphical style will be similar to Wind Waker, then? Is that what's meant by the shonen comparison, or am I off? Because I gotta say, that's a major turnoff for an old-school fella like me. It still sounds like a pretty boss game, though.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 So the graphical style will be similar to Wind Waker, then? Is that what's meant by the shonen comparison, or am I off? Because I gotta say, that's a major turnoff for an old-school fella like me. It still sounds like a pretty boss game, though No, it'll be more manga-esque. Maybe to pull more Sony-loving females in. However, if I hated the visuals and it was nearly as good as OOT, I'd still buy it (and then try to decide whether or not to wait for the Revolution or pick up a Cube). If the only thing keeping you from playing Wind Waker (which doesn't seem to be you, though) was the visual style, you're a damn fool. Since I've stuck by that opinion, it's only fair that I follow it myself. If you hated the tedious sailing and relatively weak (compared to OOT) dungeons in WW, more power to you. Hoff 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 I've played a little Wind Waker and found it decent, I just wasn't a fan of the graphical style. For some reason, I haven't gotten into any of the past TWO generations of Zelda games (Ocarina, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Four Sword) despite hearing good things. Even sadder is that I own the Zelda bonus disk for GC. Hopefully I can turn things around with the new one, and maybe pick up Minish Cap as well, since I love by little SP like a child. TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 and maybe pick up Minish Cap as well I'm glad someone mentioned this, I bought it ages ago and never really got into it, but I started playing it about a week ago and it's awesome.

{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 EDIT:Actually, from the link in the first post According to the preview, Link begins the game aged 16 in a place called Toaru Village (without his iconic green tunic, interestingly) and then grows up (and gets changed) as the game plays out. Hoff 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 I'm REALLY curious to see how they work the tunic in. That could, in part, make or break the game.
