Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2005 Was just reading the WM article, and they mentioned several WWE debuts for guys like Hogan, and Orndorff. It's fun the remember when a noted wrestler makes his first appearance for a new company. Jericho's Raw debut on August 9th, 1999 in Chicago, Illinois interupting the Rock's promo. Undertaker's Survivor Series debut. Not sure when, but Steve Austin's WWE debut has I believe the Taskmaster Ted Dibiase's milliondollar champion or something like that. The four radicals in I believe Pittsburgh. Ric Flair on Superstars for his initial run in the WWE. Scott Hall on Nitro sometime in May. Maybe Memorial Day. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted April 30, 2005 Steve Austins first WWF appearence that I remember seeing was on the Brother Love Show (as the Ringmaster) where Ted Dibiase introduced his new Million $ Champion. Not a very good debut. All he did was cut a pretty bland promo.
Guest Stunt Granny Report post Posted April 30, 2005 Triple H's debut vignettes were f'n great. Hunter sitting in his mansion sipping a tea or some shit, when he turns to us and is all like "pshhhhhhhhh" and goes back to drinkin' his fuckin' tea. BAD----ASS. LessonInMachismo 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2005 Raven at Unforgiven 2000. Actually that was a return. For me, I will never forget Hall's WWF debut as Razor. The vignettes, like when he was in the restaurant, kicked ass. I became an instant fan.
Guest news_gimmick Report post Posted April 30, 2005 I remember the Roaddogs debut in December 1994 acting as a cable puller, and ended up holding the British Bulldogs leg in order for Jeff Jarrett to get a count out win. Not a huge debut but it was out of nowhere for me at the time. And of course you can't forget the f'n PARADE Hogan got coming to WCW in 1994. Talk about absurd. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted April 30, 2005 4 or 5 times? He must've said it every 10 seconds for 5 minutes. By the way, that wasn't his redebut. He returned at No Way Out, where along with Nash and Hall, STILL had trouble beating up Austin.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2005 Ric Flair on Superstars for his initial run in the WWE. Flair actually debuted on Prime Time Wrestling. It's on the Flair DVD.
Guest Hass of Pain Report post Posted April 30, 2005 I thought that Scott Steiner's debut was awesome in the Garden for Royal Rumble. They loved Scott Steiner, and he had the whole sirens and strobe lights effects for his entrance, and the arena was popping huge for his pushup routine. Steiner was awesome at that point, it's a shame they cut him off at the knees and brought him in as a face. Lance Storm's Raw run in where he debuted was pretty sick too, Canada popped huge for him and it was probably in the top five InVasion moments.

We didn't really give him much love in Boston at the Rumble 2 months later.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2005 I love your signature. There should really be a picture of Phil Mickelson, there, however. His 2004 Masters win was extremely reminiscent of Benoit's WM victory.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted April 30, 2005 Steiner dug his own grave at the 2003 Rumble. He was gassed about 30 seconds into the match (he was barely able to get up without use of the ropes!), and did the belly to belly suplex 50 times. That reminded me of War Zone and Attitude. Do the move too much, and the crowd will shit all over you. Sometimes Triple H exposing a wrestler for sucking is a good thing.

The fact the act that followed was the greatest match I've ever seen live. Maybe ever. What a night. And thanks for the compliments. Mickelson definately would go along with the trend, but I'm not that big of a golf fan. I guess I had to do just because the eeriely similiarity of Benoit/Red Sox is beyond belief, now that they both won "the big one."
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted April 30, 2005 That was weird, but I'm even more surprised the crowd didn't die for the rest of the show, regardless of how good a match was. HHH/Steiner is the first match that I can say really put me to sleep. (The other being the HBK/HHH mess from Bad blood).
iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2005 It was such an awesome feeling when they put up the graphic for Angle/Benoit and playing "Falling Apart" after cutting away from Steiner with his arms in the air because the place made a big pop and everyone around me, including myself was all "Now it's time for some fucking wrestling." The crowd was basically dying for something to blow us away after that and boy, did we ever get our money's worth. I almost wonder if Benoit would of gotten the standing ovation if it wasn't for the match before. Not saying it wasn't possible, but it's something to think about. We all weren't just going to sit on our hands and do nothing for the rest of the night because you gotta think of the money you spend to go to a PPV (which boggles my mind at some crowd's being so dead at shows...yeah they may suck, but at least get your money's worth.) I also went to Backlash 2003 a few months later and even though the match quality wasn't that great, it was really enjoyable, almost maybe even more fun then the Rumble. But Rumble will have so much more of an impact on me through life than Backlash ever did. Though I did get to see Rock's last singles match ever. And the Hollywood entrance live, which is the greatest thing ever.
Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 That rumble match was brutal. I was ROTFL at my friends house watching steiner blown up and tripping while doing moves and Trips had this look on his face. Crazy stuff, you wonder why WWE decided TO HAVE A REMATCH AT THE NEXT PPV (which wasn;t as bad as the rumble one though) kudos to the boston crowd for letting steiner hear it. 10 Pounds 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 I was in the crowd for NWO 2003, and the crowd reactions for HHH/Steiner were great. First of all, during the video package before the feud, Earl Hebner came out and there already were fans chanting "You screwed Bret" at him. All he did was standing on the ropes and flipping off the fans in the front row. To be honest, I think we'd had the intention of crapping over this match all along. Many of the fans were smart marks (Quebec had a strong IWC a few years ago). We booed Steiner at the second he came out, and there weren't that much of a reaction for HHH, there were some for Flair though. I missed the beginning of the match (piss break) . The spots I remember was the crowd shitting on Steiner for not being able to rip Triple H's cast, Triple H getting a monster face pop for shoving Hebner, the first belly-to-belly Steiner threw (we remembered what he did at the Rumble ). There was also a spot when Steiner had Triple H cornered (Boos), HHH reversed it (Cheers) and Steiner got back the advantage (Boos). Finally, the match dragged on too long and there were some "boring" chants, and the crowd was begging for the match to end when the belt shot didn't worked. Even tough the match sucked, we had a great time all night long. Montreal was great for having smart crowds, but the last shows we had have been pretty lackluster. Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Raven at Unforgiven 2000. I don't remember this one at all. What happened? Boy, I really don't remember much of anything Raven did in WWE...I remember him briefly teaming with Tazz, and then that stupid ninja angle with Torrie (not Wilson), but that is about it. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted May 3, 2005 He ran in, stood there, DDT'ed Lawler into next year, then left. I always loved appearences like that. By the way, the other "Torrie" was Tori, just so it's easier to know the difference between them.
