The drama ended two hours later when the suspicious item was identified as a 30-inch burrito filled with steak, guacamole, lettuce, salsa and jalapenos, and wrapped inside tin foil and a white T-shirt. “I didn't know whether to laugh or cry,” Principal Diana Russell said. Someone called authorities Thursday after seeing a boy carrying something long and wrapped into Marshall Junior High School. Law enforcement arrived to search the premises. More than 30 parents, alerted by a radio report, descended on the school. Russell said the mystery was solved after she brought everyone together in the school auditorium to explain what was going on. “The kid was sitting there as I'm describing this (report of a student with a suspicious package) and he's thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, they're talking about my burrito.' ” Afterward, eighth-grader Michael Morrissey approached her. “He said, ‘I think I'm the person they saw,' ” Russell said. The burrito was part of Michael's extra-credit assignment to create advertising for a product. — The Associated Press Steak AND guacamole? Deadly.

Jobber of the Week Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 This is more of a Current Events topic, anyway. So says the worst poster on these forums since that one guy who had "5 days til ban" gimmick that eventually wound up with his being banned beause he sucked. I'm going to drop the F-bomb up in this hizzy: This is Fluff.
Guest CronoT Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Actually, I believe that it's a poignant reminder of the fear and paranoia that we've forced ourselves and our children to live in.
2GOLD Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Giant thing wrapped in t-shirt and what appeared to be metal being carried around in the school. It's not paranoid, it was common safety. If they do nothing and something had went down, we would have never heard the end of it. The parents? They were just being silly but at the same time, I wouldn't completely call them foolish since I would have probably pulled my son/daughter and let em have the day off as well. Why? Because they can avoid the discussion in the classroom about it and they can watch sports or cartoons or play video games instead. Middle school is worthless, video games offer more education than that place.
