Jorge Gorgeous Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 I picked up this CD on the notion that it'd be something different, and it turned out to be fucking superb. This guys a Hasidic Jew who does roots reggae music. I really can't recomend it enough, not just as a Jew, but as a music lover. If someone wants to give him a listen I can send you a track or two via the AIM.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 I just had an interesting question pop into my head based on this thread. Contemporary Christian music exists. Is there Contemporary Jewish music? I mean as a genre.
Jorge Gorgeous Posted May 2, 2005 Author Report Posted May 2, 2005 I just had an interesting question pop into my head based on this thread. Contemporary Christian music exists. Is there Contemporary Jewish music? I mean as a genre. Nope. Theres TONS of Jewish musical artists, head over to www.jewhoo.com and look in the music section if you want a list, theres some surprising ones. Klezmer would maybe be the closest? I wouldn't call it contemporary, and it definitely isn't pop - but its very Jewish and its still being made.
Jorge Gorgeous Posted December 21, 2005 Author Report Posted December 21, 2005 I posted this topic forever ago... is anyone else listening to it yet?

Mole Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 King Without a Crown is an amazing song. What other ones are good?
snuffbox Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 Father in the Forest, Aish Tamid, Exaltation...He also has some good beatboxing and live stuff recorded. Matisyahu is a great live performer, and I met him after his set at Sasquatch Festival...pretty cool guy.
Jorge Gorgeous Posted December 21, 2005 Author Report Posted December 21, 2005 King Without a Crown is an amazing song. What other ones are good? Close My Eyes and Beatbox off of 'Live at Stubbs' though... just buy the whole CD, its all good.
