I picked up this CD on the notion that it'd be something different, and it turned out to be fucking superb. This guys a Hasidic Jew who does roots reggae music. I really can't recomend it enough, not just as a Jew, but as a music lover. If someone wants to give him a listen I can send you a track or two via the AIM.

I just had an interesting question pop into my head based on this thread. Contemporary Christian music exists. Is there Contemporary Jewish music? I mean as a genre.

Nope. Theres TONS of Jewish musical artists, head over to www.jewhoo.com and look in the music section if you want a list, theres some surprising ones. Klezmer would maybe be the closest? I wouldn't call it contemporary, and it definitely isn't pop - but its very Jewish and its still being made.

Father in the Forest, Aish Tamid, Exaltation...He also has some good beatboxing and live stuff recorded. Matisyahu is a great live performer, and I met him after his set at Sasquatch Festival...pretty cool guy.
