Favorite musical montages on TV

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty sure this belongs here.

But yeah, I was watching an episode of The Shield the other day and they used a song by The Magnetic Fields called "All my little words" during their ending sequence and it rocked bells.

And seeing the hatch light up. Those who know will get it.

Anywho, what have been some standout musical montages in TV for you?

I loved the "Five O'Clock World" opening for The Drew Carey Show, but I'm not sure if that counts. Fucking awesomely fitting song that's already the shit on its own without the great Drew side-stepping dance.

The one they used on Lost when Boone died was great. Really powerful stuff, even if Boone's death (on it's own) wasn't as shocking as, say Charlie's would have been.

The Shield uses a lot of great ones.

"Trouble" by Coldplay was great to end season 1. And "Overcome" by Live was a great closer for season 2. Plus many others.

And I don't know the song, but some lovey song to close season 2 of Nip/Tuck, it was very nice...only for the show to end in vicious violence. The suicide scene from season one with "Rocketman" playing was also really good.

On that note, the music they used during Charley's "Death" scene just killed me. I have never worked so hard to fight off tears then when I saw him hanging from that tree.

The only ones that have ever really stuck with me have been the ones on The Wonder Years, especially when it's Kevin mooning over his moments with Winnie, set to something by Joni Mitchell usually. Get's ya right here…

… and here…
