Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 I thought excommunication was a Catholic thang.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Good. Democrats are soulless beings anyway...
The Czech Republic Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Who'd even want to be a Baptist anyway. Church did 'em a favor.
SuperJerk Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 I thought excommunication was a Catholic thang. That's what I thought.
Carnival Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Good. Democrats are soulless beings anyway... indeed...vote Bush - 2008...just write him in.
SuperJerk Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 I'll be the first to acknowledge I don't have a soul. I'm not a Democrat, though.
Big Ol' Smitty Posted May 6, 2005 Author Report Posted May 6, 2005 Who'd even want to be a Baptist anyway. Church did 'em a favor. Way to bash the largest Protestant denomination in the US.
The Czech Republic Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Way to IliveinthemidwestwhereeveryoneisLutheranorMethodistandhardlyanyonegivesashitabou ttheBaptists
Carnival Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 I don't know one baptist. Everyone is catholic here.
The Czech Republic Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 My neck of the woods is Catholics, Methodists, Lutherans, Presbyterians.
SuperJerk Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 I can't fling a dead cat without hitting a Pentacostal.
Big Ol' Smitty Posted May 7, 2005 Author Report Posted May 7, 2005 We have like 8 bagillion Baptist churches in my (southern) hometown.
SuperJerk Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Leave me out of this. Love him or hate him, Czech's a funny motherfucker.
Kahran Ramsus Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 In Florida there are Baptists everywhere. In Ontario they aren't nearly as common. Where I grew up it was mainly Anglican & Greek Orthodox. I find Baptists to be quite rigid in their beliefs for the most part.
Big Ol' Smitty Posted May 7, 2005 Author Report Posted May 7, 2005 I thought excommunication was a Catholic thang. Well, kicked out...shown the door...whatever you wanna call it. Whatever you wanna call it it's bullshit.
Vyce Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 I don't know one baptist. Everyone is catholic here. Well you do now. Hi.
Guest CronoT Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Baptists and Catholics hate each other so much because they both think the other is going to hell. Catholics have pedophile Priests. Baptists have Jerry Falwell and Fred Phelps. Any questions?

Baptists have Jerry Falwell and Fred Phelps. Any questions? They don't hate each other. I was raised as a Baptist and neither I nor anyone I know hated Catholics. My mom married a Catholic. And I think Pope JP 2 even issued an edict or something that said Protestants were "brothers in faith" or something like that.

The kind that live down here think the sun shines straight out of their collective asses.

Come to think of it, there was a Catholic kid in my Boy Scout Troop who told me and the other Protestant kids that we would go to hell. We did pick on him a lot though, so we probably deserved it. He was chubby and slowed us down on hiking trips.
SuperJerk Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Baptists and Catholics hate each other so much because they both think the other is going to hell. That's been my experience as well. As a non-Christian, I find these inter-denominational arguments hilarious.

AndrewTS Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 I've never met one Catholic in my age range that thought Protestants were going to hell for being non-Catholic. Plenty of Baptists I know find plenty of the Catholic rituals quaint/weird but don't hate them for it. There's also plenty of types of Baptist sects with slightly different beliefs. Methodists are exactly the same as Baptists except they believe you can lose your salvation.
CheesalaIsGood Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Anybody kicked out of the church should see it as the opportunity it is. A Chance to sleep in! Play some video games. Maybe throw one in the old lady.
SuperJerk Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 I've never met one Catholic in my age range that thought Protestants were going to hell for being non-Catholic. Maybe they just didn't want to admit it.

I got a LOT of problems with Catholicism as a whole, but I think that stems more from me being a Protestant rather than a Baptist. And some of those criticisms can be applied towards the protestants as well. I'm not sure what Crono's trying to say, unless he's referring to how Protestants (not simply Baptists) may view Catholicism as a doctrine of works rather than faith. And some of us are really, REALLY disturbed at how much emphasis the Catholics place in the Pope and Mary, neither of whom should ever be treated with anything even close to divinity.

Light up the room with your witty banter.[/sarcasm] Back on topic..... When I was dating that hardcore Catholic chick about 6 months ago, we went to her Catholic church one Sunday. When I asked about whether the "blood" part of the Communiom was grape juice or actual wine, she told me it was wine, but that I couldn't partake in it anyway. My immediate mental reaction was "WTF!?", and I think it may have slipped onto my face. But, I simply sat there like a good Christian, ignoring their (her) arrogance and elitism.
