Now normally I dont like stuff like this(I'm more of an old school thrash fan...Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, etc...), but I've alway SOAD has always been a guilty pleasure of mine.. Their new cd is goofy as shit, with tracks like "Violent Pornography", and "This cocaine makes me feel like I'm on this song", but I thoroughly enjoyed the album, good stuff, nothing to technical, just good stuff to rock out too I guess. It is noted that Daron does a lot of singing on this album, its almost half and half with him and Serj... Anyone else hear it yet?
Matt Young Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Tell me where to download it and I'll give my opinion. I really liked "Cigaro" and, even moreso, the new single (not sure of the name). I've always enjoyed SOAD, and I associate some fond memories with them.

I dont even take SOAD's lyrics seriously....as I said before I find them goofy, but entertaining.. Im still uploading the album, I had some torrents going, and they were hogging my bandwith, so I stopped them...album should be done in a few..

I don't really care about the political statements in the music, as long as it sounds cool.

I don't necessarily agree with, say, Rage Aginst The Machine's political views or even Green day's on their newest album (although I am not a Bush supporter), but I still thoroughly enjoy the music. While I'm thinking of it, what is the name of that politically centered website that Serj Tankian and I believe Tom Morello started years ago?

Guest Vitamin X Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 I started a thread on it already when it was announced that it would be coming out, apparently the thread might have been lost or something. I've heard a few songs off the new album and I love it, but I'll wait until I get my CD in the mail (with free t-shirt~!) that I pre-ordered. From what I've heard, they've definitely stepped up the pace a lot on this album, and it's almost kind of thrashy in how fast it is. I didn't get into Steal This Album! as much as Toxicity or the self-titled one, but I've loved all 3 albums and will probably like this one better. It wasn't that Steal This Album! was bad or anything, it just kind of took a backseat to when I discovered black/death/other kinds of metal and I didn't listen to it as much. I found it to kind of be all over the place, the type of CD where I can listen to a few songs off of it at a time but never the whole thing all the way through.
