New Limp Bizkit

Recommended Posts

The new Limp Bizkit (limpbizkit?) album was released on Tuesday, which I wasn't even aware of til now. I really liked LB's first 2 albums back in the late '90s, but aside from a couple songs, their last couple efforst haven't impressed me much. I did, however, like Fred Durst's move from rapping to singing on the last album.

Well now, Wes Borland, AKA the best part of the band, is back, and it shows. The guitar work on the few songs I've heard (especially the song, "The Truth") is top-notch, but why, God, why must Fred Durst attempt to rap again? Some decent screaming vocals over the awesome guitar riff in "The Truth" would have been great.

What do you guys think of the new Limp Bizkit? I probably already know the answer...

I've been known to like a few LB songs. But they mostly suck.

Oh my, where to begin? At this point I hope Fred Durst just keeps on releasing stuff just to either piss people off (and amuse me). The whole nu metal/rap metal thing was always garbage, but I do admit that I kinda like a few Limp Bizkit songs. Rearranged isn't bad, My Way or the Highway was a good WM theme, I even sorta enjoyed that cover of Behind Blue Eyes aside from the goofy spelling bridge part. But man when Durst sucks he REALLY sucks: Break Stuff, Rollin, My Generation (what is WITH Durst riffing on the Who?).

This album is way different than anything they've done in the past 5-6 years, to try to offer a different opinion here than the consensus that it sucks without hardly anyone here even giving it a listen and just leaving it as "Fred Durst sucks, blah blah blah." It's not like Results May Vary or Significant Other at all.

Overall its a short CD and should have been more to it, but from whats on here, its kind of reminiscent in a way of how Metallica tried to go back to a basic formula with St. Anger of just putting out the garage band feel with songs with little structure, the tracks are all over the place, almost like its just a band doing a first cut together and calling that the final version, but heavy as hell overall.

I'd give it a chance before you immediately say it has to suck because its Limp Bizkit and Fred Durst. This album grows on you immensely after a few listens and is almost like they are going back to basics here more on the line of Dollar Bill but more harder and rough feeling. Definate change of pace for sure.

Scott Ian said it best when he called LB "NSync with guitars"

I've heard a handful of Anthrax songs that sound more like N'Sync than anything Limb Bizkit has ever released.

Just to be fair, I went to Amazon and listened to the sound samples from the CD

The backing band is allright, but Robert Van Durst is still awful

Oh man. Let this music die already. Got to admire Fred Durst's tenacity, I guess. He's like nu-metal's version of Danzig.

Fewer statements have been this accurate. Wow. Limp Bizkit is like the new Danzig. I just want Fred Durst to get decked by someone in a high-profile way soon as well.

I haven't heard anything by the Mars Volta, but I heard that they're opening for System of a Down on their new tour, so I guess I'll be exposed to them sooner or later...

I have my doubts that you've ever listened to NSync

Actually, now that I think about it, I always confused that song with Larger Than Life by the Backstreet Boys.

Oh come on, Danzig's better than Limp Bizkit. Danzig is more easily compared to Dio, I think. He's not really that great, but he's done a bunch of material, he's fairly famous, has a cool logo, and did lead vocals for a short period with a very famous and influential band. The people that are into him are WAY too into him, everyone else thinks he's whatever, and they're both short and ugly. Fred Durst doesn't try to be an evil tough guy.

Fred Durst is more like Vince Neil.

At least Vince Neil killed someone.

If only Durst would kill himself

I took a look at the recent Mars Volta album and its tracks and LB aren't remotely as bizarre as that. I mean hell I don't even know what in the hell those titles even meant on Mars Volta. Note the only song they released as a single (The Widow) is the only one with a normal title. Ironically The Widow sounds like a title off this Bizkit album.

As far as Mars Volta as a band, that single is pretty cool I think. It doesn't seem much like At the Drive In (Bixler and Rodriguez' previous band) aside from knowing it's the same singer.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't "Part 1" included in the title to LB's new album? Perhaps this is just a throw out there kind of CD to gauge a reaction before releasing part 2 with 15 or so songs on it?

How is the Mars Volta, by the way? I dig that single they've been playing...The Widow? is that it? Anyway, I was going to scoop it up Saturday but decided not to...

More like they could only come up with 14-16 songs and wanted to milk as much $$$ as possible by releasing them seperately on 2 albums.
