Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2005 Rey is different than Christian. Christian is a bit under-sized and very thin. Rey is built, and small enough that his size becomes a gimmick unto himself. Plus, he moves a ton of merchandise, and he's a far better worker than most of the roster. we agree on something!!!!!!!! Unfortunantly, Vince will never let it happen so.... oh and holding out for RVD to become champ is a lot like those folks that keep dreaming of that push for Val Venis and Stevie Richards...that ship has sailed... ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2005 To people who say Mysterio vs. Undertaker wouldn't work... I seem to remember the tournament that Cena won back when Brock Lesnar was WWE Champion that Undertaker and Mysterio seemed to have a pretty good opening round match. Course, this was back during the final bit of Taker's Bikertaker days.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted May 10, 2005 well maybe he'll get brave and Slam a car door in Eddie's face like he did to Liz and run away shouting How do you like me now?
Kardo 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 Well it's easy, have people sell his kicks to the face as death... Have Cole put over how vicious they feel and say doesn't matter how big or small, a shot to the head is a shot to the head
Downhome 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 You sound like you are talking about Tajir more so than Mysterio.
Guest The Iron Yuppie Report post Posted May 11, 2005 I could see Rey Mysterio as a credible WWE champion. (As some have already noted), since his arrival in WWE he has been booked to be the equal of Eddie, Angle, Benoit and Edge (amongst others), all of whom have been world champion (or in the case of Edge, seem destined to become world champion at some stage). The only potential problem with having Mysterio as a credible world champion is how he is presented against bigger wrestlers like Big Show and Undertaker. If they play to Rey's strengths - greater speed and agility - or avoid such match-ups it wouldn't be too big of a problem. Having said that, I don't see WWE going with someone like Mysterio as champion anytime soon.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 Maybe not his kicks to the face, because I'm thinking Tajiri and RVD have that one covered, but maybe his kicks to the legs. Those actually looks like they really hurt.
Kardo 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 Kicks, punches, anything, I mean the guys bulky enough and if guys sell it and the commentary team does. Well then people will catch on
Guest HardcoreMF'nHolly Report post Posted May 11, 2005 I think the coolest way for Rey to get his shot would be to win the Royal Rumble. That'd put him over in a HUGE way. Have him be denied a title shot because of his size, have a couple midcard feuds that he wins, have him still passed over for a shot, put the title on heel Eddie, have Rey Rey win the Royal Rumble to prove to everyone he can hang with the big boys, then beat Eddie Guerrero at Wrestlemania to become champion. It'd make Rey Rey look like a million bucks, and it'd be one of the best WM main events of all-time. It'd be a shocking Royal Rumble win, which would make that event even better. And most importantly, it'd help to erase the stigma of cruiserweight forever. Michaels and Benoit and Jericho started, but if Rey Mysterio became champion, then cruisers wouldn't be nearly as pigeonholed as they are now. And having Mysterio defend the title against Eddie, Angle, Cena, JBL, and others would be awesome. Mysterio could've won the Rumble last year, and he came close, being one of the last guys in the ring. I was hoping that they would swerve us and would've gave that title shot to Rey instead of Cena. Rey vs JBL @ Mania 21 would've been one a hell of a draw, considering that Rey is from California, and because of the large Hispanic audience who watch Smackdown and WWE. Mysterio is an excellent worker and is over as hell -- this makes him a credible champion with most of WWE's audience, and therefore should be at least contending for the title. Shooting Star 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 I would LOVE to see Rey as World Champion. The way I'd do it would be getting some high profile wins and then getting some confidence and go up to the champ but get shot down for a few months until a 4 way match gets set up (preferably JBL Cena and Eddie)Have the storyline be that the JBL is confident that he just has to get the other 2 guys out and pin Rey while rey just wants to prove that he can win the HUGE one. Somewhere along the fight Cena and Eddie get knocked out and JBL(he is the champ in my fantasy) and he starts laughing and pointing at rey then does the Lariat pins him but gets off and tauns him some more and decides to power bomb have Eddie be running to the ring as to make it look the match will keep going but Rey reverses the powerbomb into a pin out of nowhere and takes the surprise win! CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 I think that scenerio would work better with a elimination style match. Say it's with the partcipants you mentioned and JBL is in fact champion. Have Cena and Eddie feuding at the time so they eliminate each other (Cena eliminates Eddie clean, Eddie blasts Cena with a chair and JBL covers). Then JBL can toy around with Rey since it's only Rey. If Rey picks up the win in a one on one situation, it seems a bit less flukey.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2005 After seeing yet another fantastic Rey/Angle match (or mini-match), it made me want to see Rey/Angle for the WWE World Title that much more. Very few guys have worked together over the past few years as well as these two. Their matches are always hot, the crowd is always into it, and it's believable whenever either one of them picks up a win. I can't think of too many other pairs of guys in WWE right now that I'd like to see go at it in a big match more than these two.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2005 well I've always been in the "give Rey the title for a few months" camp, so you have my vote on that one...I'm sure it will never happen, but at the same time, it couldn't be any worse than what the past 4 years have provided... Guest Dr Stupid Report post Posted January 31, 2006 The thing with Rey is, he's had some good fueds and taging with Batista was good as well, but I wanted to see him wear the US Title before getting a Heavyweight push at WM. I can see him winning of someone like Angle, but they can't have him defending against big guys all the time. He can defend against guys like Orton, Benoit and Booker. But these fueds would be better in the US Title scene.

As long as they dont do that feud, I don't see the issue.

Guest Zarock Report post Posted January 31, 2006 The thing I hate about having Mysterio as World Champion is that about 90% of his matches tell the same story, which is David vs. Goliath. This is good and fine at Wrestlemania, but having a champ who always looks like the underdog is pretty awful (like Cena, but with, you know, talent). Given the fact that Cena has a LOT more charisma then Rey, I think Rey should be given a very short reign before fans get fed up with him overcoming the odds every week. Guest Dr Stupid Report post Posted February 1, 2006 Rey could beat Angle, defend for a little bit, then drop the title to a heel (maybe back to a heel Angle), then Batista comes back to reclaim his title, also allowing for more Batista/Rey tag matches. Kardo 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2006 They shouldn't push him as the underdog. He has 17 years under his belt, have him dominate matches, trick people in the ring, have him work stiffer. There's quite a few ways to give people credibility, it's not like Rey doesn't have a big enough moveset to dominate matches. I mean wouldn't you be scared of a guy who could jump out and kick you at any angle or drop you on your head from the ringpost?? All it takes is a small touch of creative booking.
