mike546 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 Gotta hand it to KC, they did play a heck of a game, save Stairs getting tossed out a third trying to stretch an overthrow from first. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not really, it was more the Yankees fucking up. Bernie getting a pathetic jump on Stairs double which Matsui would have had, Matt Stairs of all people tagging up easily on a catch in short CF by Bernie which reached the cut off man on a bounce, Cano throwing it past Tino when he had no chance on the double play, A-Rod throwing to first on the impossible throw when he should have not thrown it with a runner on 2nd, Wolmack getting picked off 1st, Posada swinging at a 2-0 pitch after Cisco hadn't thrown ONE strike in the inning, Bernie and Rube not swinging ONCE with Matsui on 1st, Jwter swinging at three HORRIBLE pitches in the 9th. Tell me if I left anything out.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 (edited) And they did their part, came to the park with a solid effort, and capitalized on every Yankee mistake. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 Cubs' pitching comes together to throw a 10-inning one-hitter in a exciting 2-1 win over the Dodgers. Penny and Zambrano both went eight, but ultimately, it was up to the pens. Neifi Perez of all people drove in the winning run. The bottom of the 10th wasn't without drama, though, as Dempster smashed Antonio Perez in the head on the payoff pitch. Nervewrecking, but five in a row for the Cubs, and another save not blown by Dempster.

mike546 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 (edited) Why is it that everyone in the world can hit Tim Wakefield beside the Yankees? I just don't get it. EDIT: And RJ has already given up two runs. *sigh* What is it with Randy Johnson and sliders? He gotten everyone out lately with fastballs, but all the runs hes given up, now three today, came off SUCKY sliders. Edited June 2, 2005 by mike546

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2005 wow theyre going to lose again. ehh what can you do. Just keep the faith I guess. I will never turn on my home city or team. This doesn't make any of these other cities like chitown or baltimore or what have you, any better or cooler than NY anyhow so who cares. We are all still baseball fans. Yea I love my Yanks, but after all it's just entertainment right. Hey I'm trying to calm down some of the fairwetaher fans. Don't worry they will go on another long win streak soon, if only cuz my dad will be going back to NY on Monday for a trip.

Guest OSIcon Report post Posted June 2, 2005 Brian Roberts went back to Baltimore earlier today to have an MRI done on his shoulder. He sat out yesterday after mentioning soreness in his right shoulder, but made it sound like he could have played. They say that it still could just be muscular and he will take the Detroit series off no matter what the MRI shows. Hopefully it is just muscle soreness and nothing worse because the O's really don't need another injury (especially to Roberts) right now.
mike546 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2005 If the words, DON'T PITCH TO DAVID ORTIZ WITH A GAME ON THE LINE aren't at the top of every teams scouting reports against the Red Sox, it needs to start now. I *think* there were runners on 2nd and 3rd, and in that case, I don't care it lefty/lefty, I walk Ortiz.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2005 That makes no sense. Intentionally walk Ortiz to get to Manny Ramirez? If this is three weeks ago, MAYBE, but when you've got the most dominant left-handed closer in the game against a guy who has traditionally struggled against lefties, you take your chances with him and don't set-up a lefty/righty match-up with one of the premiere hitters in the game; a hitter who has been on a tear the last week. Bored 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2005 http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2074677 Ocatvio Dotel is going to be out for up to two years due to elbow surgery. Thank god for Huston Street. At least Dotel isn't signed beyond this year but A's lose any chance to get anything for him in a deadline deal.

mike546 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2005 You miss Radke and Santana.Plus Mauer, Morneau and Punto are all hurt for the Twins. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We just got swept by the Royals in seriously the most pathetic three games I've ever seen them play. The amount of dumbass plays commited in the last three games seriously reminds me of the complaining done by cubs fans last year when a Cubs player made a running mistake everday. Whether it was Bernie getting thrown out at 2nd trying to tag up and killing a rally, or Giambi getting caught in a run down, or Wolmack getting picked off. The starting pitching was once again bad. Brown and Pavano blew chunks, Pavanos given up now TWENTY more hits than innings, and 14 home runs. The D was pathetic. Bernie throwing to the wrong base, Cano killing a double play, Posada with three passed balls. Also, nobody is hitting, absolutley no one. The Royals starting pitching, horrible beside Grenkie, kept us down, including a 4 hitter against a guy with a NINE era. Their bullpen held us to one run in ten innings. The only positive I can get out of this series is that Tanyon Sturtze and Gordon continue to dominate, both with ERAS now under two. I honestly wouldn't be shocked to be swept by the Twins. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2005 Twins better win the fucking series. They'll probably not show up for tomorrow's game and make the Yankee starter look like Whitey Ford.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2005 It was pathetic, indeed, and I hate nitpicking, but it's Womack, not Wolmack. I normally wouldn't be a dick and point it out like that but I've seen people spell it that way before, whether it was your or not i don't know.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2005 Orioles are still in first place.. 4 game split with Boston is ok with me, they just need to make sure they take the series up in Detroit, unlike last weekend.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2005 Derrek Lee another 3-for-3 with a pair of walks in a 5-0 game that sees Glendon Rusch go the distance. Not sure if it can last, but it's fun to see the Cubs have just been on this past week. Their seven-game winning streak is already longer than any one they had last year. Guest Mosaicv2 Report post Posted June 3, 2005 Holy crap dude! Derrek Lee is becoming the Ryne Sandberg or Andre Dawson (for Cubs fans) of this time; his team just plain stinks and pretty much carries it.
