Does anybody here subscribe to the Observer

Recommended Posts

Guest Neon

I go this off of a couple boards reported to be form the new Observer.

"Just read the new Observer and apparently Laurinatis has been told to hurry up and sign CM Punk, Samoa Joe, and Bryan Danielson. This is in the wake of Meltzer last week reporting that TNA was wanting to sign all three."

Can anybody confirm this? If it's true did Meltzer say if they were more like to choose WWE or TNA?

If they choose TNA over WWE, they're fucking retarded.

Depends on the deal offered.

AJ turned down aWWE developmental deal as TNA allowed him to spend more time at home with his wife, be a 'top' guy, or at least far far higher on the card than he'd get in WWE, and take Indie bookings so he can make pretty much the same if not more than the money WWE offered for a developmental deal.

Doesn't strike me as being such a dumb ass choice.

AJ doesn't really have much of a chance outside of WWE's cruiserweight division. Punk, Joe and Danielson do.

The only reason AJ didn't publically take the WWE offer was for two reasons. One, it was a development deal which means a year or so in OVW. Two, the money was only about $70k or less and he can make more in indy bookings where he goes for $500-1000 an appearance.

He's stated several times his dream is to work in WWE. If they offer him a reasonable amount of money he'll take it.

I don't know how you see that.

Punk would need to put on a lot of wieght to not look ridiculous with anyone but cruisers...

and he's not a cruiser.

Punk can actually talk. So he'd have a chance to rise above the Cruiserweight level. AJ can't do that.

I heard that Doug Basham guy was a pretty good promo, too. Never seen it in the E though. I don't really see how Punk'd be any different than all the supposedly great OWV workers who get called up and do nothing.

Both Doug and Danny Basham are great talkers if given the chance.

Danielson wouldn't get much of chance without a tan and more muscle mass, and even then he'd be limited. Joe would get put in the 'Samoan' bracket because of his background, plus his physique would hold him back. Not to mention that he's barely over 6ft as it is, and compared to the rest of the WWE guys, he wouldn't look big at all. Punk can talk great, but he's lacking the size and mass WWE likes, so he'd almost certainly get very few chances to break out from the pack.

If AJ ever goes to WWE, I predict that we'll see a long term AJ/RVD tag team, leading to a feud between the two which will lead to nowhere.

If TNA even last that long.

Oh I know AJ isn't going to WWE anytime soon. It's not like RVD will be anything more than what he is now by '08. ;)

You can't rule out AJ going over before that though. Anything can happen, blah, blah, blah.

I also think TNA will be around for quite some time. It's already overcome so much over the past few years that it'd be foolish to totally write them off. The group wasn't supposed to make it a month, a year, two years, but they just keep on going forward.

Punk I could see. They gave him a surprising amount of offense against Val Venis when he got the Heat gig. He didn't look massivly out of place size wise either. No more Pepsi Plunge though.

Joe would suffer from Rhyno syndrome...where everyone buys him as a monster, until he ends up in the ring with guys taller, more muscular and then has his moveset raped.

I don't know about Danielson either. They could use him in Benoit's old heel role and it'd work better, because Danielson can cut a better promo and has more 'charisma'. How they go about booking him without making him seem like 'another Benoit', I don't know. Bringing in Danielson would 'take away from Benoit's uniqueness', in WWE speak, which is why Mysterio's the only masked Cruiserweight on the roster.

Didn't Punk pretty much burn his bridges with TNA? Has something changed there?

Joe and Danielson could be great in TNA.

As far as I know, Punk has burnt his bridges with TNA and passed the point of no return. But isnt loyal to ROH and heading their school (how he can do this I have no idea, its not like his name is known outside the communitry)?

Danielson is pretty much a free agent so I can see him going to SD as a CW.

I havent heard much about Joe recently and dont think that ROH are pushing him as much as they used to. Hes more a WWE guy than Punk and Danielson, but he would just be stereotyped and Vince will jack off by watching him jobbing every week. Hed get a kick out of flushing ROHs greatest champ down the toilet.

The Bashams rule on the Mike, so does Matt Morgan.

Regarding RVD, if he werent to get a mega-push straight after coming back, I think he will reconsider his future at WWE and move to TNA which would be great for them and then you could see RVD-AJ, RVD-Daniels, RVD-Raven, RVD-Killings, RVD-Monty, RVD-Aybss, . . .

That would be the best name TNAs picked up to date.

I could see Danielson getting a nice push if he's willing to wrestle as American Dragon and play the uber patriot. Maybe a nice feud with Angle.

Er...Hassan, Suzuki, and Dupree? And La Resistance? Depends on the draft and all. And I'm assuming they book him with any sort of intelligence, which is asking a lot of the current WWE staff, I know.

Suzuki is still with the wwe? :|

Nothing original here and I cant see him being the foreign wrestler killer.

I can see him fighting against the Japenese CWs though after Angle, being Tajiri, Akio and Funaki in a series of exibition matches and then lead them to a multi man CW elimination match.

That's true, Cena was the designated foreign heel killer(remember the "feuds" with Suzuki and Dupree where he won just about every match against them within 3 minutes)

Ugh, please, dont remind me. That really brought in the ratings, didnt it? :S

I would prefer it he was portrayed as Matt Hardy was. Slighty overweight CW, and he can lose weight and go for CW title or go for the US belt.

Either way it's a HUGE blow to ROH....

Nothing they couldn't survive. Styles and Daniels are returning soon which would replace the name value of anyone leaving, and the undercard is full of guys who could step up.
