Update: Bulls general manager John Paxson confirmed that the Knicks are interested in acquiring Curry through a sign-and-trade, the Chicago Sun-Times reports

Would the Bulls be interested in Jerome James straight up?

C'mon Sweetney...c'mon Sweetney...

Wishful thinking has the Bulls signing Curry to the max, trading him to the Knicks for Sweeney and Hardaway, then reaping in the benefits next summer (is this possible?).

An article concerning the D-league, and the following affiliations

-- Fayetteville: Bobcats, Knicks, Pistons

-- Austin: Nuggets, Spurs, Rockets, Clippers

-- Fort Worth: Warriors, Lakers, Mavericks, Blazers

-- Arkansas: Hawks, Cavaliers, Grizzlies, Raptors

-- Florida: Heat, Magic, Celtics, Timberwolves

-- Tulsa: Hornets, Pacers, Bucks, Bulls

-- Albuquerque: Jazz, Suns, Kings, Sonics

-- Roanoke: Nets, 76ers, Wizards

Players can be sent down as many as three times, but no team can have more than two players in the minors at once. Players on D-league assignments will still receive their NBA salaries and benefits, including per diem of $102, and D-League teams will be permitted to expand their rosters from 10 to 12 to accommodate assigned NBA players.

Taken from Rotoworld and since I haven't seen it, not exact quotes.

In an interview airing tonight on ESPN, Shaquille O'Neal indicated that Erick Dampier should play in the WNBA.

It was difficult to decipher exactly what Shaq said to Stephen A. Smith, but he implied that Dampier should play for the Monarchs and not the Mavericks, and that he said ''WNBA, not the NBA,'' when referring to Dampier. Dampier has caught a log of heat since proclaiming himself the second best center in the NBA last year, and we're not sure he's even in the second best 10 centers in the league. Sep. 21 - 10:41 am et

I love the trash talk.

The Lakers are lacking at guard, right? I mean, right now they're looking at starting Aaron McKie or a rookie alongside Bryant. They could do a lot worse than Spree who would be a bargain at this point. I wouldn't expect his old game, but I wouldn't expect him to pout and play like shit like he did last year either. It would also allow Kobe to handle the ball while keeping the big lineup that Phil Jackson likes.

Is he going to play point? The only thing I have a problem with is his attitude, and that comes into play when on a young team such as the Lakers.

Speaking of the WNBA, it's nice to see that the girls in Sacramento can get the job done, unlike their male counterparts. Defense is a hell of a strategy.

That's a really good pickup for Chicago, props to John Paxson. Sacto didn't have room for him with Abdur-Rahim and Thomas, but he can play, and he'll get the chance with the Bulls.

He's the perfect backup PF. He's willing to do dirty work and has skills under the basket. When motivated, will actually hit the boards. Also posseses a good outside shot.

Payton signing with the Heat just inches us closer to the NBA dream Finals of San Antonio vs Miami.

Only to have their hearts broken when either Detroit or Indiana Beats them.

I mean seriously. No outside shooters, no defenders equal no championship.

My bad.

I'll blame Ripper for putting my whole quote in his reply instead of just the part about Payton.

DA: making sure it's anyone else's fault but his own since now.

San Antonio is nowhere near my dreams for a NBA Final.

Latest on Eddy Curry, from ESPN.com

Sep 28 - What to make of the mess that is Eddy Curry's situation? Who knows? Sam Smith of the Chicago Tribune breaks down some different scenarios:

"The Bulls could extend the qualifying offer in hopes of working out a trade because once Curry signs the qualifying offer, the rules make a trade unlikely. Curry would not be under contract until he signs the qualifying offer, so he could not participate in training camp or play.

"If the offer is not extended, Curry would take the Bulls/NBA physical and presumably would pass since a DNA test is not involved. The Bulls likely then would seek the DNA test and Curry apparently would demur. That would lead to arbitration.

"If Curry wins the arbitration, he could play for the Bulls this season at the approximately $5 million salary. If Curry were to lose and the test is ordered, his lawyer said he'd refuse it. That would lead to suspension, and uncharted waters. Curry couldn't play in the NBA again unless the Bulls gave him his release.

"Which probably would lead to a trade, with the Knicks, Grizzlies, Nuggets, Warriors and perhaps the Lakers or Spurs the most likely partners. There is a major complication in a potential sign-and-trade deal because Curry falls under the arcane NBA base-year compensation rules. ... So the Bulls would have to take back multiple players, meaning they would endanger expected major salary-cap space and flexibility while also having to include players."

Penny Hardaway and Tim Thomas' contracts expire after this season. Mo Taylor and Malik Rose's expire in 07. If the Bulls are just looking to clear space the Knicks can probably help them out. The NY media think Isiah is setting up to make a run on LeBron in 07, but I seriously doubt that would get done.

There's no way an arbitrator would side with the team on this. You can't compel someone to have a DNA test outside of a criminal investigation.
