Goddamn what a shitty lineup. Motley Crue?!

Shitty?

Motley Crue came out of the blue, but to say Gordon Lightfoot, Barenaked Ladies, Bruce Cockburn, Tragically Hip and a possible Guess Who reunion shitty, makes me wonder if you do care about music at all?

Also added is Celine Dion (who is not Canadian) Bryan Adams (we apologize to the American folk for Bryan Adams) Jann Arden and Billy Talent.

I wonder what bill Bruce will be on? I'm almost sure its Philadelphia, Bruce is from South Jersey after all but given the rap (and general crappy music) nature of that bill, Bruce would look way out of place.

Id like to see the Canada show...Deep Purple, OLP, Tragically Hip, Jann Arden, Barenaked Ladies, more isnt too bad.

How hard is it to get the tickets?

I don't know how Toronto will run it, but there are no tickets for the Philly show. It's open to everyone. And if TO does have tickets, admission is free (probably some kind of lottery or first come/first serve type of deal)

How is she not? Not that I'm not ashamed of her.

Bryan Adams will be performing his new single "I'm gonna wanna gonna"

Please remind me of why we're ashamed of Bryan Adams. I'm a big fan of his.

Oh, and were I in Barrie, I'd SO be there.

Every line up has like 1 or 2 bands and then pure crap

Canada's line up seems to be a better one, Not any huge bands but atleast a lot of decent ones.

That line-up is pretty underwhelming. Like Curry said, there needed to be a second stage for bands like BSS and Arcade Fire. Hell, they could have got Matt Good and k-os who have stated they would have gladly played.

BTW Curry, are you coming to the BSS/Modest Mouse/Metric show on Sunday?

Any advice for someone going to the show next Saturday?

I have a friend w/ a friend who lives a few blocks from the Museum, still, what time would you advise going to the show? When does the thing start? Where will the crowd be standings, etc.?

Everything after Reckless is considered crap. Well, I liked everything up until Waking Up the Neighbours in 1991 at least.

To CG:

When's the last time she's been to Canada, or even mentioned Canada?

To Dogbert:

Its a South Park reference, but its very true. And I'm sure he's gonna play his new single I'm Gonna Wanna Gonna.

If anyone cares, I hear the opener of the London show will be Paul McCartney and U2 singing the 'Sgt Pepper's' title track (obviously for the "It was twenty years ago today..." line), and closing with McCartney singing 'The Long and Winding Road'.

I'd advise getting to your friend's place early, since the Philly police are closing off a fairly large portion of the area around the Art Museum. I'm going on Saturday and I'm staying at a friends' apartment that is about a 10 min walk away from the Art Museum and I'll probably head up there Friday night so I can avoid the traffic.

Show starts at noon, but they'll be showing the London show on the jumbotrons at the Museum, I'd get there early if you want to be close to the stage.

I went to the Toronto show, left my house at like 5:30 Am and was in line by 7ish. Thought the show was pretty good, was within 20 feet of the stage for a fair amount of the concert, from like 4 to 530 there was only 1 person in front of me. We left after the Hip as we were badly sunburned and generally burned out from edgefest the night before. I thought the best bands were Our Lady Peace, Deep Purple, The Hip and Simple Plan

They played the first single of it, its on radio stations in Toronto now....might be called best day of youre life or somthing like that, I thought it sounded good personally. Its sounds a little more complicated then some of there past stuff. I heard some samples of the new cd and alot of it sounded pretty mellow and popish but this song has give me hope for a harder soundin cd

So in another words, crappy.

They should go back to making songs like Naveed, Supersatelite, Automatic Flowers...etc...

Bring this thread up to get a question answered - other than a few songs on the official website, does any file sharing programs have some of the Live 8 performances on mp3 or something? I havent been able to find shit but was hoping someone would have had to done a recording of the show and converted the audio to mp3 files.
