Sandman9000 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2006 Along with "Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeebird". Minus a couple "e's". From a post at the Guitar Hero forums, "Killing In The Name" is in there as well, beaten on expert by a tester who played with his back to the screen. Either way, I'm still fucking pumped for this game.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2006 "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Killing in the Name" are good choices, with my only concern being whether they use the original versions or not, because I have my doubts about getting a good cover vocalist to mimic Axl or Zack, since a bad cover vocalist can really spoil a song (see "Ace of Spades") "Freebird" - boo, I hate this song, largely due to it's ever-present spot on classic rock stations' daily playlists
Guest BOOT Report post Posted August 23, 2006 I don't know most of these songs, but 'Killing in the Name' should be cool. I assume 2 will have as least as many songs in it as the original. More would be better, but if there are more parts to play in each track i'll let them off. I've still got the last two songs to do on expert on the original. Haven't tried 'Bark at the Moon' yet, as I keep messing up 'Cowboys from Hell' and getting agitated. Struggled with the opening riff at first, but can now do it fine, although not perfect. However, when it comes back to the exact same thing a second time I always fuck it up. My timing just seems to go to shit and once i'm off, it's so fast I can't get it back. Bah. Guest Ninja Report post Posted August 23, 2006 You can watch clips of "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Freebird" on Gamespot. The vocals on "Sweet Child O' Mine" aren't too great , but I'll live.
Special K 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2006 Freebird is going to be insanely frustrating, since it's like 9 minutes long, and only gets hard after about halfway through. Every time you lose to that long-ass solo on extra, you're going to have to go through that looonnnngggg intro section. I expected it to be on there, though. "Killing in the Name" seems to be absent however.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2006 Man, to echo an earlier post of mine, I see a lot of those and think "Good band choice, bad song-by-that-band choice"
A Happy Medium 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2006 I can already think of different songs for both Heart and The Rolling Stones. Gimme Shelter and Barracuda come to mind.
Darthtiki 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2006 My list if I were programming Nirvana; "Heart-Shaped Box" (Good choice, but why not Teen Spirit) Primus (original recording); "John the Fisherman" (I'm not a huge Primus fan so...) Stone Temple Pilots; "Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart (Vasoline would be good so would crackerman or sex type thing) Anthrax; "Madhouse (Not an Anthrax fan so...) Motley Crue; "Shout at the Devil" (Kickstart My Heart would have been great) The Police; "Message in a Bottle" (Any Police song would do so I'm good here) The Pretenders; Tattooed Love Boys (I'd rather see My City is Gone or Human) Spinal Tap; "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight (Stonehenge) Heart; "Crazy on You" (I like the song, but Barracuda by far at this rate put Alone or These Dreams) Allman Brothers Band; "Jessica" (I know nothing about the Allmans) Lynyrd Skynrd; "Freebird" (No problems here) Avenged Sevenfold; "Beast and the Harlot" (Fuck this band, where's my Rage) Dick Dale; "Misirlou" (This or Ghost Riders in the Sky) Lamb of God; "Laid to Rest" (No problems here) Alice in Chains; "Them Bones" (Same thing with the Police) Reverend Horton Heat; "Psychobilly Freakout" (No problems here but a Tiger Army or Nekromantix track would suffice) Black Sabbath; "War Pigs" (Sabbath, gotta have sabbath) KISS; "Strutter" (I'd rather have War Machine or Detroit Rock City) Butthole Surfers; "Who Was in My Room Last Night?" (Pepper) Van Halen; "You Really Got Me" (If this doesn't have Eruption attached, then Panama) Guns N' Roses; "Sweet Child O'Mine (Jungle, Don't Cry, Nighttrain or You Could be Mine) The Rolling Stones; "Can You Hear Me Knocking?" (Brown Sugar or Start Me Up) Rush; "YYZ" (Tom Sawyer, but I can't stand Rush)
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2006 I would keep the same songs, but add different songs, for some. Sandman9000 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2006 Something I just noticed: Drist's "Arterial Black", one of the first songs announced, isn't on the list. If that isn't a typo, I'm wondering if Marcus Henderson's (who did guitar work for the first and second game) leaving the band lead to the song getting pulled, or something along those lines.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2006 The major rumor bits I've seen have it as being up in the air, with no confirmation as to it remaining or going. Shame if it gets pulled though... while I can't find the full song, I liked what I heard in the preview video, and I'd definitely take it over shite like A7X or LOG
Sandman9000 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2006 Last I checked, the full song's on their myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/drist
Sandman9000 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 MTV may be ran by boobs, but this means profit for you! http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/05/guitar-h...h-danzig-et-al/ An unofficial song list, since artists haven't been confirmed, but as close to one as we're gonna get before we drop the "un" part there. Opening Licks: Strutter - Kiss Mother - Danzig Monkey Wrench - Foo Fighters Shout At The Devil - Motley Crue Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight - Spinal Tap Amp-Warmers: Heart Shaped Box - Nirvana Message In A Bottle - Police Woman - ?Wolfmother* You Really Got Me - Van Halan (Kinks) Carry On Wayward Son - Kansas String Snappers: Surrender - Cheap Trick Them Bones - Alice in Chains Search and Destroy - ?The Stooges* Tatooed Love Boys - The Pretenders War Pigs - Sabbath Thrash and Burn: Cherry Pie - Warrant Who Was In My Room Last Night - Butthole Surfers Girlfriend - ?Darkness, maybe Mathew Sweet* Can't You Hear Me Knocking - Rolling Stones Sweet Child of Mine - Guns N' Roses Return of the Shred: Killing In The Name - Rage Against The Machine John The Fisherman - Primus Freya - ?Sword* Bad Reputation - ?Thin Lizzy, maybe Joan Jett* Jessica - Allman Brothers Relentless Riffs: Crazy On You - Heart Trippin On A Hole In A Paper Heart - Stone Temple Pilots Rock This Town - Stray Cays Last Child - Aerosmith Stop - ?Janes Addiction* Furious Fretwork: Madhouse - Antrhax Already confirmed songs: Hangar 18 - Megadeath Laid to Rest - Lamb of God Misirlou - Dick Dale Beast and the Harlet - Avenged Sevenfold Freebird - Lynrd Skynrd YYZ - Rush. Psychobilly Freakout - Rev. Horton Heat As me and Slayer might be the only ones who care, there is no Arterial Black in this list. I would garner that they're out of the game due to Marcus Henderson leaving. However, I'd have no problem being wrong in this case. EDIT: I just C'n'P the list. Obviously I know how to spell Anthrax, but Joystiq doesn't.

Ced 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 PS2 exclusive like the original unless plans have changed. YYZ is pretty nuts on Hard. I haven't played for awhile so the hammer-on and pull-off sections are giving me trouble. And the new animation they added whenever you blow a combo, where the whole playing surface quickly turns black and shakes, throws me off alot.

Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2006 First YouTube videos are starting to show up. "YYZ" seems to be the early favorite off the demo. Here it is in co-op: . Done by a guy with the screen name "Echelar". You oughta check out his other GH videos. If he's not the best player out there he's probably one of the top 5. Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2006 I think I've decided to wait for the 360 version of GH2, but I'll be playing the hell out of the PS2 demo. Heck, I might break down and buy GH2 for the PS2 at a good price then get the 360 version as well.
