BlackFlagg 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2005 http://fox.com/theinside/ Tim Minear and Howard Gordon's new show starts tonight...description from IMDB. Rachel Nichols stars as rookie FBI agent Rebecca Locke in the new FOX series, "The Inside". Locke is brought into Los Angeles's Violent Crimes Unit, which deals with the most taxing and dangerous cases, by Virgil "Web" Webster (Peter Coyote). Webster is obsessed with solving cases, so much so that Agent Paul Ryan (Jay Harrington), who becomes Rebecca's partner, believes Webster will sacrifice members of his own team to do so. Both Ryan and Webster know that Rebecca is something special, however, for her past allows her special insight into the minds and motives of those they hunt. Also in the cast not mentioned above is Adam Baldwin. Lost filled the Buffy/Angel void nicely, but now that Lost's season is over hopefully this will take over nicely. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2005 David Fury is also involved, he wrote LOST's best episodes. I didn't even think of starting a thread for this... Always one step ahead of me, Flagg.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2005 Pros: - She's hawt - Peter fn Coyote - A neat twist at the end, with Coyote "firing" her, only to bait the real killer. Can we assume that Coyote knew it was him all along and kept him on just to "test" her? - Coyote shooting the guy in the head at the end... it was SUCH a Mal thing to do. *sniff* Minear didn't forget his roots. Cons: - What? Like, seriously. I am a CSI fan, and even though their science may be debated by jackfucks, they at least provide an explanation and details into the science, how-tos, etc. of the crime and how the CSI's solve the crime. This? Not so much. Blame it on editing or whatever, but I don't really buy the "she's gifted" thing, so they have to do a lil bit better in splainin things. - The "look" of the video - not the stylish elements like the screen "thumping" with the music at the end when she's following the dude, or the conversation between her and Coyote in the victims house, but the grain of the video is like it was filmed in the early 90's. I like slick production, not some "looks like it was taped over a copy of the 1992 World Series". It was really off-putting. - First episode. Tim Minear. Exposition out the wazoo. If it wasn't by Minear, or if I wasn't familiar with his work, it wouldn't have mattered. It was, so it was very obvious. "His conscience" is a nice line, but does it really have to be told to the audience? - What was with Baldwins hair?!! - I didn't like the other chick on Wonderfalls, and I don't like her here. - I miss the comedy. Overall, I'd give it a B, maybe a C+. I'll give it a few more shows to develop before passing ultimate judgement.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2005 I liked it. Baldwin played a dick very well....it was entertaining. And it was a first ep. I trust these people.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2005 Actually, I trust the creative team as well. What I don't trust is Fox to keep this show past the summer...
Mole 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2005 From Zap2it.com The dark drama "The Inside" debuted to a 3.2/5 on FOX.

Mole 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2005 But does she really have any "abilities?" They didn't show them really, she just is really good at figuring out what the killer was doing. I don't call that an ability.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 From Zap2it.com The dark drama "The Inside" debuted to a 3.2/5 on FOX. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'll assume that rating, which would be bad for regular season, probably isnt much better for the summer season. I wont get too interested in it then, even though it was really good.
Mole 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 That is not a good rating for the summer. UPN would kill to have that in the regular season though.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2005 The second episode was an improvement in many areas. The better: - The video quality was much better. Clearer. They didn't do nearly as many "tricks" with it - just the 'scream'. - A lil more comedy than the last episode, though I'd like a lil more. - Baldwin's hair was much better! So was his performance. The moustache thing was great. They also took away the gray from the other dudes hair, which was good. The Good: - The guest this week was great. I don't know his name, but he's the dude who was in Die Hard. Fuckin great at playing Smarmy. Strong performance, IMO. - Though it was obvious that the cop was the one doing it, I liked him doing the rape thing and then shooting himself in the head. The theme of "control" was nicely done there. It wasn't a "nice and tidy" finish. - The preacher with the cookies. Nice. - I liked how they took us step-by-step through her cuffing. I prefer the systematic method of detective work (like they do in CSI) than the "something is not right here" style. The bad: - It seems really quick. I dunno why. I guess I'm so used to serial killers on CSI getting 2 or more episodes to develop. While they took us through the process of her cuffing, they didn't really take us through anything else. I like the more technical aspects of solving crimes, rather than the "let's use Locke as bait" method. - Two episodes. Two "it's not who you think" twists. Two times Coyote set up Locke. Two times Locke got in trouble and managed to solve the crime. The shock for the next episode would be not having any shocks at all. - I still can't buy her in the role. She's too pretty, or something. She's not a particularly bad actress, I just... they haven't really done anything to give her credibility. I'd rather her spout off technobabble than her just look at shit and come up with shit. This whole silence of the lambs thing just ain't workin for me. - I still don't like the other chick. She just doesn't fit. Though I like that they put two Minear-vets together. - The black guy. Could he BE any more "the black guy"? Overall: I liked this episode enough to watch it next week. starvenger 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2005 I'll be honest - I fell asleep watching this ep. I just couldn't get into it last night, and I think it's because of one of the "bad" things you noted - Rebecca Locke isn't a great character. It's never a good thing when your main character is kinda blah.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2005 Okay, some weeks have gone by, so what do people think about the show now? I personally love it. I loved the ep with the evil little girl and how it ended, I loved the nail biting guy from last week...hell..I loved the killer of serial killers before they were serial killers thing. I also like that the pretty much tell you who the killer is in the beginning. Its not so much figuring out who the killer is, but how are they going to catch them. As the characters are becoming meshed and liking each other more, the show is becoming better in my opinion. I barely watch television anymore, but this show and lost has turned my wed. nights to TV night.
Mole 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2005 Has the show been any good? I've been away all summer without TV and I haven't been able to watch it. Is it worth downloading?
