With the casting of Tom Wilkinson and Rutger Hauer in Begins, and now the above men in The Dark Knight, it's safe to say that Nolan must have some major pull to be able to score such sweet actors in supporting roles.

Anybody starting to think they're telling 'The Long Halloween' in this one?

 

Nolan & Goyer stated in an interview a while back that 'The Long Halloween' was their main source of inspiration for 'The Dark Knight' much in the way 'Batman: Year One' was in regards to 'Batman Begins', although they will be sourcing material from other Batman stories.

 

I've also read a persistent rumor over the past 6 months that Black Mask will be featured in the film to some extent, although at one stage the Penguin was said to have a role, but that has recently been shot down.

You forgot Equilibrium and Blades of Glory. Though admittedly, the latter was a very small role.

Rumor has it that Hall is playing

a Batman-inspired vigilante (i.e. some guy with a cheap Batman costume who thinks he can do some good for Gotham). He runs afoul of both Batman and The Joker, the latter with gruesome consequences.

 

Again, just a rumor, as TDK is more closely guarded than Begins ever was. Also, it turns out that one of the leaked pages of the script spelled out "SEE YOU IN DECEMBER" with the first word on every line...
