Guest DVD Spree Report post Posted June 17, 2005 How did he make his transition from wrestler to announcer on Smackdown? Was it sudden, or was there an angle around it? I forget. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, I know he initially got his break after his feud with Lawler, during which time he hijacked the announce booth and gave full-on JRisms like "Slobberknocker!" in Tazz's inimitable New Yawk drawl. Apparently he impressed management. When his push inevitably fizzled out, both he and management figured that he's be a greater asset doing colour/play-by-play than just being a 5'6" guy on Heat. Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Report post Posted June 17, 2005 IIRC He got his first few goes when he "invaded" the booth during the Alliance invasion angle and got the gig full time after the brand split and Lawler was restricted to Raw.
Guest jm29195 Report post Posted June 17, 2005 His last match was tagging with Rikishi against Billy and Chuck at a June Smackdown house show
Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2005 His last televised match was against Mr. Perfect on the Raw the night of the first draft. He choked him out.
Guest news_gimmick Report post Posted June 17, 2005 Did he start announcing on Smackdown soon after the draft? Or was it in May 2002?
Jingus 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2005 It was during the Invasion that he first announced. "Mr. Dreamer, will you please escort Mr. Lawler to the back!"
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2005 Yeah Jingus...except that Jerry Lawler did not work for the WWF during the Invasion...
Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted June 17, 2005 I know he took over "The King"'s spot at NWO 2001, after Lawler's match with Stevie Richards. And then, I believe Paul Heyman took over for Lawler.

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2005 Tazz did Heat with cole starting with heats move to mtv in sept 2000) He started announcing sd after lawler left. When ecw joined the invasion he left for like a week then came back with cole. after the invasion ended, lawer came back and did sd with cole as Tazz had one last ring run and won the tag titles with spike. when the draft happened cole and tazz became the permanent hosts of sd. Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2005 Actually, Heyman commentated in Lawler's absense during the invasion. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yea heyman was still on raw during the invasion, tazz did sd with cole. but when lawler returned tazz left (but returned by december as a wwf resigned wrestler)as the alliance was defeated. so king did both raw and sd for a time.
